This was our fourth visit to Beadnell Towers for Sunday lunch and unfortunately our last. On this occasion I found it expensive and not good value for what was on offer. I complained about the roast potatoes which were advertised as being cooked in duck fat. They were as tough as old boots, had been re-heated and even then they were cold- Aunt Bessies have nothing to worry about. When I complained I was told by the Maitre'D had he told the chef. When leaving I noticed that a number of other customers had also left their potatoes. For the prices charged the least I expected was freshly cooked vegetables.

Chose this as a budget option which looked ok from reviews. It was every bit as good as promised. Our room was well-appointed and very comfortable and the bathroom excellent too. Breakfast was cooked to order and was delicious. The staff are warm and friendly and nothing too much trouble. I certainly hope to return for a longer stay.

On a day trip, we called in to this fish and chip shop. I am so glad we found it. This is a little gem. We placed our order which was delivered pretty quickly. Freshly made. We both had cod and chips and I have to say it was fantastic. The best fish and chips we'd had for ages. If you go to Newbiggin I an certainly recommend this place.

Delicious fish and chips. Beautiful white flakes of tender cod cooked to perfection in crisp tasty batter. True chip shop chips and plenty of them. The owner is always friendly and the staff are polite and efficient . The best fish and chips in Northumberland award very well deserved .

The Broadway Chippy has been our regular for many years of visiting my dad. We’re big fans of the cod bites, freshly prepared, massive flakes of tasty cod, gorgeous. Although we’ve recently started getting the special small cod, chips and gravy/curry sauce or mushy peas which is great value and equally tasty. Thank you for your service over the years, for your smiles and genuinely helpful and kind service.

Delicious breakfast, we were hiking Hadrian’s Wall and spent the night at the Railway Inn. The staff was very kind and helpful and the rooms, bedding and baths were very comfortable. I recommend this establishment.

Dipton Mill Inn is a lovely, idiosyncratic little pub. Approaching it from Hexham it felt almost "Hobbiton" down in the valley and with the beautiful autumn climbing foliage all over the front. Inside it is a small, cosy space, you can feel that it has been a pub for a long time - it has a steady and welcoming atmosphere. No TVs, no music and no slot machines (which we very much appreciated)! Though maybe a little quiet music would lighten the atmosphere a bit (and mean we weren't overhearing other people's conversations quite so much)? The home cooked food looked and smelled amazing and we will definitely return to try it sometime. We couldn't stay long but felt like somewhere you could get comfortable and while away and afternoon perhaps after a walk or day in Hexham? The staff were lovely and made us feel at home. J said the beers were all excellent. There was a good selection of wines and some quality cider available, too.

Have visited the Angel Inn numerous times mainly for Sunday Lunch must admit this time food was very average not what I was expecting I had the roast beef which was overcooked and very uninviting , cheeseboard afterwards was 3 small slivers of cheese and stale biscuits which I left lunch was £27.00 a head for 2 courses expected better from than this from previous visits Won’t be returning in a hurry

Great family day out A really good mix of things to entertain children (soap making, crafts, Harry Potter broomstick flying and shows) and adults (state rooms, towers and grounds). The annual season pass makes it a reasonably priced attraction. Good food options for lunch or space for picnics
