Early family dinner with two young boys in a party of 8. Excellent choice of starters and mains promised a lot and happily delivered. Drinks were good too. Enjoyed ourselves so much we ran to pudding, which were also worth eating. Service was good. Overall cost reflected the quality of the food. Being able to park outside was the icing on the cake.

Great fresh food and attentive service in a lovely setting.

The noise from the kitchen staff from the access door behind table 20 was very off putting. It sounded like a children’s playground. The windows needed a good clean too. The food was OK but the staff need more training.

Oysters excellent.Crab soup🥳 crab salad very good But ensure fresh salad leaves! Mussels first rate. Chowder 🤩 but would prefer it in a bowl rather than a beaker. Good lunch experience

Excellent as always, lovely cosy pub area and beautiful dining overlooking the sea. Spoilt for choice with the menu eventually opted for devilled crab toast and mussels for starters and both went for the luxury fish pie. Could not fault the food and lovely friendly service. Highly recommend

Very nice ambience overlooking the harbour & the sea on a stormy day. 4 of us had the lobster which we enjoyed but the chips that were served were disappointing. We also had the ice cream for dessert but the caramel sauce served was a little under generous for the price.

Was a rainy weekday afternoon and the was very quiet just one table preparing to leave. The service was immaculate, the food (3 out of 4 had the fish platter) amazingly good with a great ambiance. So pleased we showed our Northumberland cuisine to our Southern guests of course they now want to live in God’s Country.

Fab Sunday lunch as ever only complaint was Yorkshire pudding was cold x

Have visited the Jolly Fisherman on several occasions and it never disappoints. The menu is outstanding, the service terrific and it has a great ambience whether outside on a sunny day or sitting by the log fie on a winter's evening. On this occasion our party of six had the Captain's Corner to ourselves in the bar area. It was very cosy and we were able to relax with our dog (who enjoyed his own 'Sunday Roast' doggy treats) . The menu has plenty of variety, the Sunday roasts hearty and delicious and the fish pie wonderful. We look forward to our next visit. Highly recommend. Many thanks.

We loved it! I’ve had this place on my list for quite some time and it definitely did not disappoint. Our new favourite place. Friendly staff especially a young guy very professional and attentive for his age. Very refreshing. The Tempura prawns were to die for and the Sunday roast one of the best we have ever sampled. The views were incredible. The ambience perfect. It was very busy but the place felt very calm and relaxing. Lovely lunch. Can’t wait to go back!

Lovely typical British pub situated right on the coast with lovely views out in to the North Sea. Great food and selection of beers and ciders. The sound lady who served us was great, polite, friendly, great service. Food was really nice, and served nice and hot. Would definitely recommend and go again.

Excellent main courses. Fish pie was exceptional. Not a good choice of desserts. All cold and basically ice cream , posset or cheese and biscuits. Coffee good

Lovely place to eat in a lovely village. The restaurant was clean and fresh. A nice relaxing ambience. The food was delicious and the portions were reasonable but not so big they were over facing. For two mains and two desserts and two soft drinks our bill came to £90 including the service charge. It was a nice treat to ourselves and we would definitely go again

Second trip to Craster, we stumbled across this place last year by a happy accident and loved it so much we went back. Had a lovely smoked haddock chowder with exquisite crab toast and a great fish pie! Busy but staff keep cheerful and helpful. Will be back again!!!

Whenever we come for a holiday to Northumberland we always book at the Jolly

Very busy on Sunday and the service remained very good… I had a Sunday roast which was first rate… others had the renowned crab sandwich, which was apparently delicious, with a slight niggle of some shell being found in a couple of the sandwiches… Still a favourite of ours and we’ll be back. Be sure to book, especially on a weekend.

Although expensive, our all round experience was very pleasurable, with stunning sea views in the restaurant, and a warm and attentive welcome. We recommend the fish board which has seven varieties of seafood and huge portions. The Sunday lunch too is perfectly cooked and presented. Make sure you book!

Booked a table for a Sunday roast, it was perfect , food extremely well cooked and staff friendly and helpful.

Great local pub, with a warm friendly atmosphere. Outstanding food, and great service, friendly, warm and welcome staff. Great place if you’ve been for a walk, with or without your dog. On a good day the terrace is a superb place to relax too.

Such a great spot for lunch. I ordered fish pie from the specials and it was packed full of fish and completely delicious. Puddings were great. If you sit in the restaurant, you get great sea views.

Another lovely meal at the Jolly Fisherman . Only comment would be to ask if it would be possible to have a few lighter starters . There were 2 soups on tonight. Lovely evening overall

We visited here for a last night holiday treat after a week in Northumberland! The jolly fisherman was the most an amazing place! We booked a table for 5 - 3 adults, 3 children and our dog, we were sat in the captains corner which was lovely and cosy. There is also a restaurant area available - no dogs though. We had an amazing meal! I had The Jolly Fishboard and my husband had Jolly’s steak burger! The children had a menu to select from which they all liked! The staff were friendly and attentive, the wine was nice and chilled! A must visit in Craster! We’ll be back on our next visit!!

As always this is an excellent restaurant. We only just managed to book a table for a late lunch at 3 pm.

We have eaten here many times in the past but had not dined here for approx 4 years as had moved away. It was always one of our favourites. The location and inn itself are as lovely as ever. The food was not quite up to what we remembered but it was still tasty. What really spoilt it for us was that the staff clearly wanted to shut up and we felt very rushed. We were in and out in one hour which was not what we intended. We appreciate it's low season but the words as we left of 'right let's lock the door' from one of the wait staff at 9pm summed up the evening.

This place is exceptionally good and always delivers a delicious meal with a smile and great service. You can't ask for more. The fish is as you would how so fresh and the chowder is so tasty along with the crab toasts yum! Enjoy it all

Food was fantastic, I had the muscles to start they were amazing, the Beef sunday dinner for my main, the dinner was really good unfortunately just not enough on the plate for the price, I could have easily eaten it twice, literally half a carrot on the plate and not enough Roast potatoes, really enjoyed the meal and restaurant definitely recommend the place, staff and service were great, just small portions

A first time visit 26/10/2024. We were so impressed, we’ve booked again for next Saturday! The Seafood Platter was to die for! Exceptional quality and the staff were beyond delightful.

Beautiful food and surroundings. Staff were very attentive. I enjoyed Lobster and my husband had the fish platter for one. It was delicious. We have been to the Jolly Fisherman before for lunch so knew that an evening meal would probably be as good. It didn't disappoint! Perfect!

Portion size gets smaller each visit. While they are hands down the nicest fish cakes I’ve ever had for the best part of £18 I’m not full when leave. Otherwise the place its self if still one of my favourite places to visit. Staff were great although the awkward tip moment at the end is slightly playing on social science. The option to choose to remove service charge over choosing to tip. Leaves a bitter taste that one and doesn’t feel like your tip is appreciated if you do choose to leave one.

A reliable favourite is ever popular venue offers great food and service, but do book in advance!

This was by far the best meal we’ve had for a long time. Food was delicious and very well presented. Service was friendly and the setting was fantastic. Definitely need to book as very popular.

When visiting Northumberland- eating at the Jolly fishermen is a must. Food is incredible- they were happy to accommodate my dairy free and gluten free diet and were happy to suggest and make a different sauce to go with the cod loin. Fabulous place

We had a lunch time table in the restaurant. Excellent fish pie and very good selection of wine by the glass. Staff all seemed to be working flat out but were helpful. The sea view makes it an exceptional autumn lunch venue.

Called in after walking back from Dunstanburgh castle. Managed to get a table outside (nice sunny October day) but did see many people not getting tables as it’s so popular and booking is recommended. Food is absolutely fantastic both my wife and o were very impressed. Lots of fresh seafood and locally sourced produce. Nice beer selection , personally can recommend the farne ale. Definitely coming back

Fantastic views, great food and so fresh. The ambience is perfect and the staff very friendly. Best to book if going on a nice day as it is very popular and so many people were disappointed not to get a table. Only one criticism is the cost of desserts. Just a bit much at £10. If that could come down a bit I'd be much more likely to order one. However, can't fault the freshness and taste of any dish I've had.

We’ve been visiting the Jolly Fisherman over the last 10 years and can say that every visit for drinks and food has been as good as the first. We visited on 22/10/24 and had the crab soup which was excellent followed by a mixed fish platter and pan fried sea bream which were excellent. We will definitely be back next time we visit Craster.

Three of us had a lunch mid afternoon. Service was quick. Staff were all young and exceptionally polite and friendly. Food was exceptional! I had muscles which were the best I have ever eaten and I have muscles in many places in the world. Oysters were excellent. Chowder and fish cakes excellent too. We thought the meal was exceptional

Great view above sea . Generous & good value for money. Waitress efficient and was aware of food intolerance, so came prepared to advise my wife on options - unusual in most places. Seafood was fantastic !

Lovely restaurant with beautiful views and a high quality seaside menu that suits adults and children.

We had a lovely time, food and staff were great. The only minor comment is that the bar was so busy that we had to queue to get in despite having a reservation and then later in the day would have returned for a drink but again there was quite a queue. Not enough to stop us returning however, we definitely will.

Food excellent as always Just a little disappointed that there weren’t enough chairs to go round and one of us had to sit on a stool, not ideal for a meal of this quality.

Delicious food and great menu. A treat for the family on the last night of our holiday. (2 adults,12yr, 9yr) Shared 2 starters 4 mains and shared 2 puddings. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. 10/10

We have eaten here several times for lunch in bar and really enjoyed it. However, dinner was a little disappointing. The food was very tasty; great mussels, but a some dishes were overpriced. The service was fine, but felt rushed. We were done within an hour - for a bill of £100 I would expect it to be more relaxed. Got the feeling the staff wanted to finish the service quickly. Its a nice space, but the view is the real asset so would suggest lunch is better value and overall a better experience.

We all had a Sunday roast. Thankfully we didn’t have a starter as the main was a good portion. Really good quality and a good choice of beers. Bustley ambience but not so loud we couldn’t hear one another. We sat in the bar with our dogs. Best to book a table as its busy.

Sadly no vegetarian Sunday lunch option available so choices limited to egg salad for my partner so I guess no vegan meals offered at all Really disappointed will not be going back unless they offer a choice for vegan or vegetarian

Great seafood in a great location reasonably priced for the quality. Service slow but they were very busy however had they been faster between courses they would have (a) sold more to our party and(b) had the table back to re use so taking additional revenue - which shows investment in staff on busy days always pays back in profit

No problem with Open Table app and definitely beneficial to book, as the place is popular especially on a very good day weatherwise. Downside was the food - nothing great and pricey for what you got. Having decided to eat al fresco in the “highly rated” beer garden, “the kitchen” decree that they would not serve the Fish pie outside was perplexing, as other hot food was! Maybe it is not that luxurious a fish pie when seen in daylight……I will never know!

Went out of season, but it was still busy with a cosy feel and great surroundings. The crab soup was out of this world. It was our anniversary and the team were very obliging. Would happily return.

Enjoyed an enjoyable lunch watching a wild sea. The crab sandwich was delicious with no skimping on the filling. The crayfish sandwich was again filled to the brim. The chips were really nice having been cooked in beef dripping. The service was good but did have to wait for quite a while waiting for someone to take our order.

Always enjoy our visit, but disappointed with our lunch. We chose their famous crab sandwich with a portion of beef dripping chips. Plenty of crab, but for us too much thick bread. The salad accompaniment was barely a tablespoon,but the most disappointing part of our lunch was the chips. Certainly they didn't meet their description, appeared to be re-heated so very dry, few "whole chips" mainly chip "scraps". Yes this restaurant bar is in a fab location, but you can enjoy much better cuisine in other local places.

Excellent Sunday lunch at the Jolly Fisherman. A lovely roast with plenty of tasty vegetables, and at a reasonable price. The service was excellent and the location is pretty spectacular! We would definitely return when in Northumberland.

The restaurant was very nice however the table we were given was very small for 4 of us (we booked about a month ago) and the calamari was clearly frozen / processed. Otherwise we had a very enjoyable evening and the food was good.
