Went too watch the match canny pub some good characters in there I felt really welcome

We visited twice as on the second time it was to watch my football team. The staff were really friendly and made us feel welcome.

this is a very friendly pub on the cobbles in historic alnwick the seat of the duke and duchess of Northumberland very close to the castle wich is amazing a nd the alnwick gardens stunning . the bar is great for a night out and the beer good and cheap . I reccomend it for a pub stay in Northumberland and great base for the suroundig area and castles .

Brilliant DJ, went when there was a karaoke night on, what a fab atmosphere!

What a crackin' little boozer, just moved to the area, and me and my mate headed in during the middle of a beltin' Karaoke set. Bar staff were on top form and the locals were mint, proper friendly. Loved it !

Nice pub, I called in only for a drink, to break my journey. Friendly and busy, clean and tidy with sky TV - a good place to pop into if you're in town.

With the Queens Head Hotel in Alnwick being under new management (Kathryn & John) from the start of 2023 the pub has completely changed and couldn’t be any better they have gave the queens an uplift In atmosphere with having a rhythm of the week at the queens having an event on every single day with Thursday and Saturday’s famous Disco and Karaoke with Laurie and Live entertainment on Fridays. THE QUEENS HEAD HOTEL IS THE OLDEST AND BEST PUB IN ALNWICK! Don’t forget the amazing drink offers aswell!!

Visited on a Saturday night with my partner and our two friends about 9:30pm ready for the boxing match. The place was very busy with a fantastic atmosphere. Plenty of Tv screens around the room. Pool table too. Cheap drinks. Karaoke was on and the atmosphere was fantastic. Everyone was enjoying themselves - singing very out of tune and dancing like no one was watching. In between singing and dancing, we managed to chat to many locals - old and young! Last orders were called, far too soon if ask me, and we had to drink up and leave. Luckily the party continued, with the locals we’d been talking too, at the local night club (Penny Black’s) across the road! Myself, partner and our friends are all in our mid 40s to mid 50s but we fitted in well!

We won the quiz and they refused to give us the 20£ prize for winning due to “offensive name” after we asked how bad can we go for the name and they said as bad as you want as long as not illegal

After a hop skip and jump up the coast I stopped off at Alnwick for a look around. As a traveler on modest means I enjoyed a ride on blue double decker X20. The ride was picturesque and the journey into British Northeast coastal life is fascinating to a North American having waited a lifetime to visit UK. But I digress or should I say ambled down to Queens Head for a quick pint having built a thirst for Alnwick IPA..... reasonably priced and friendly confines await the thisty traveler at Queens Head Hotel(pub) in the heart of town. Just a short stroll from shopping, dining, and exploration!

Very pleasant staff good craic and beer. Putter are friendly.

The folk are friendly enough but if its real ale you are after there are far better pubs and bars to visit in Alnwick

Called in for a pint after hiking locally. Really nice place, plenty TV's that had the footy on and had Coors on draught which was a bonus 🙂

Standard centre of town pub, sports on the telly, pool, darts and gaming machines available. Predominantly harmless younger clientele. At least 2 real ales on our visit. Dogs welcome.

Nice place until 2 young customers came in then it went downhill, bad language etc. Would never go back.

In the day time had a great atmosphere and welcoming but night times different atmosphere. Craft Union beers what more do I need to say.

We popped thinking we could have lunch and a drink but unfortunately they didn’t serve food but we stayed for a couple of drinks, it was quite quiet and it was nice to be able to talk without a lot of background noise, they had tv’s showing football but the sound was down we went back the next night for a drink before we went for a meal and the bar staff were very friendly both times

Called in last night at 10.15pm just as the barman called last orders. Told "We"re closing." We said "you just called last orders". Told "but you've not been drinking in here tonight". Thankfully not the North East welcome we are used to and as a regular visitor to Alnwick numerous times a year we certainly wont be returning.

Popped into this friendly pub for a quick pint. Good pub good atmosphere, plenty of TV screens for the sports lover.

Pub is Covid-safe but young customers definitely aren't. Landlord is spot-on though, so it seems this is post-lockdown drunken 20-somethings just being annoying in the evenings. Get there early at lunchtime to hear yourself think though. Too many TVs - one on every wall. Glad to see management has changed in last couple of years.

So nice can't wait for it to open

called in for a drink woman behind bar says do you want to leave your details for track and trace she said don't bother no one else does sat next to a group of locals shouting and swearing bragging about what drugs they've took so safe to say I wont be returning.

Called in to The Queens Head a few times during my weeks stay in Alnwick. The cheapest beer in town ,large screen TVs and clean toilets good atmosphere what more do you need.

We had booked afternoon tea here with a voucher. All though we enjoyed it have had much better for less. Sandwiches small finger size and cake was like shavings cut so thin. Scone where very nice. Staff lovely

This was by far our favourite drinking place. The staff and manager were second to none. The atmosphere was perfect and the prices would the best.

Decent pub, worth a visit. Only two handpulls but good beer on them, drinks not too pricey for the area, games section at the back - not a fan of the music though.

Fairly bog-standard boozer, cheap enough but I felt old due to the fact that the volume of the music was really unsuitable for a pub that only had about 8 people in.

Stopped off for a drink while in Alnwick good beers and reasonable seating although probably due a refurbish,but staff friendly lots of TVs showing sports .but believe this to be the oldest pub in Alnwick

Absolutely ghastly and unfriendly bar person on the night of Monday 15th May , will never return and recommend that our numerous friends in the area give this place a miss !!!! We came in the bar tonight to ascertain whether a crowd of us could arrange a birthday party for about 30 but after tonight's experience that is now extremely unlikely!!!!!

Impressed that they stock some local beers on tap as well as the beautiful Hepple gin! Didn't eat here so can't recommend the food but we came back a second night for a drink during our week's holiday so must have been good!

The pub looks nice from the outside but was cold inside. The pub was painfully out of stock of most drinks - from lager on tap to Coke, and some food. We ordered two sandwiches which took half an hour and arrived with over cooked chips and stale bread. Would we return..... definitely not.

We drove an hour to Alnwick and went here for lunch, largely because it was one of the closest places to the car park with a regular menu and home made chips. We waited about 45 minutes for food, we were told that staff had let them down. When the food came I was so disappointed. My 'chunky' chips were clearly stale warmed up chips and full of scrag ends out of the fryer. About a third of the chips were bits. At first I thought there was no scampi on the plate as the portion was so small. What I ate was tasty though. My other half had a cheese burger and 'chunky' chips. His chips were fresh. The burger looked home made but was bloody inside and caught on the outside, not sure if that was deliberate. The bun however had been microwaved and was rock hard and inedible. He said the burger was ok though but disappointed and left hungry. I did mention it to the lady who served us and she gave us a refund for one of the meals. The other food that came out for other people looked nice. The mens toilets were very dirty too. Shame.

Sorry dudes up your game Chicago town microwave pizza isn't really children's meal is it 2 cost a £1 in Iceland. But the mouldy white bread was a nice touch though.
