Christmas dinner 2024 the service was excellent & the food was fresh & delicious, our table was nice & private but we still experienced a nice atmosphere👍

We came here for Christmas lunch with family, we were seated by very friendly waitress, the food was really good, I was quite surprised at how nice it was, we will return on our next visit to Northumberland.

Excellent breakfast with Santa, breakfast was delicious and the staff were fantastic with the kids . Sharon was very friendly and fabulous and Santa was super too

We popped into the Astley after a cold walk along the beach to warm up with a coffee and met Sharon. Sharon is an absolute asset to the pub. She is so friendly, chatty, warm and happy. She had us laughing within minutes of walking in, and although we have never met her before, it made us feel like we were all old friends. Can't speak highly enough of her and having worked in the industry myself until recently, I would employ her in a heartbeat! Brilliant!

Went for Sunday lunch today.. food was lovely and a fantastic selection to choose from.. we had the carvery and it was gorgeous.. Sharon who kept checking on us was so friendly and took the time to have a conversation with not just us but every table she was tending by too making it such a friendly atmosphere.. will definitely be back

I take my adult son with severe special needs and the staff could not be more helpful and understanding. Especially Sharon who served me with a smile even though I know we are hard work and the girl on the carvery who is incredibly patient and accommodating with us.

Had the small carvery here, on the recommendation of a friend. Plate was very small, so couldn’t fill up much on veg. I opted for the beef. There was a good selection of vegetables, and they looked nice. Veg was tasty, but a bit lukewarm. By the time I found my beef buried under the veg, I was looking forward to tasting it. However the beef was fatty, gristly, and very sparse, even for a small portion. I left it on the plate, but didn’t feel I could then go and complain about the meat, as I had eaten most of the meal. Next time I will have the turkey, or some other meat that isn’t usually fatty. I suggest they at least give a decent sized plate even for the small portion, as I struggled to get all the veg and gravy I wanted on the very small plate given. It was a struggle to get the gravy on it without spilling some, as the plate was quite full.

We were served by Sharon today and she was so helpful and kind! She went the extra mile for us and was so bubbly and friendly. Great member of staff my daughter even told her that she loved her Christmas top! Thank you Sharon

Sharon welcomed us as soon as we walked in, very polite and very friendly. Very quick service, food was very nice but the amount of meat on a carvery wasn’t great. Would still recommend 👍

The staff member who served us was absolutely amazing and so lovely throughout, and the food was also absolutely beautiful and came very quickly. I believe the women’s name was Steph, but I could not be 100% that’s right.

I always like to bring my son here greeted at the door got taken to our table by Ruby who was really helpful reminded us to log the car in we got our food and after we were done Ruby cleared the table and got my sons ice cream tub for him .always a good place to come and enjoy and relax

We went for a carvery and the food was spot on. Danny and Shannell at the front were really welcoming, despite it being busy. The carver was very friendly, and ensured the carvery was plentiful. Me and my friends will definitely be back, and would recommend those toasties!

David the chef was amazing when I visited. The staff at the Astley are always good but he saw I was sad as I had received some bad news and come out to try and process. He was so kind and lovely despite being busy, a credit to your organisation 🥰

Delicious! Great service from the very smiley Sharon. Kitchen staff happy to carve, and make sure you're well fed! Lovely atmosphere of a well knit team, working together to make lunchtime brilliant! Had the carvery, great selection of meat and veg, all perfectly cooked and kept hot and well presented in a clean and tidy carvery bay.

We were 3rd in queue for Sunday Lunch, all veg/potatoes were cold ,gravy no taste and insipid, Its 2 years since we had lunch here,quality has definitely gone down, will not be returning. I would have spoken to manager but he was busy,left very disappointed.

Bought on line food. Was a bowl of mushed up mash potatoes few carrots and peas with a slice of fatty beef on top. Fit for my dog just. Went straight in bin. Never again. Used to call this place the ghastly arms when I was a kid. Lovely memories.

Food was great, everyone was friendly, Sharon one of the servers were really good with my little boy spoke and played with him. He really took to her.

Absolutely love this place. Food is always spot on. Service is fantastic and it's dog friendly which is always a bonus! One of my favourite places. And my little fluff ball loves it too

Lovely staff. Place nice & warm. Got a too good to go bag. English breakfast for £2.50 on the app. You have to park across the road in the car park. You must register your car at the bar or you'll get charged for parking.

We enjoyed our Sunday dinner at the Astley Arms today. The food was delicious, plenty of choice of meats, vegetables. Sharon made sure we had everything we needed, very helpful and kind. Went the extra mile with our daughter who wanted an ice cream.

First time today definitely won't be our last Food was amazing Cooked perfect. The bloke behind the bar with the Santa hat what a happy cheerful soul he is If I had one criticism would be the tables 10.11 and 12 crammed together Your nearly sat with the next table . Other than that loved loved loved it

Haven't been since before the pandemic. Do love the changes, alot more variety of food. Ordered the carvery, highly disappointed that the amount of veg to choose from was minimum. Only had cauliflower with cheese, no just normal cauliflower, disappointment as not everyone's cup of tea with a Sunday lunch. No brussle sprouts. Not the most friendly welcome when entering the Stonehouse either. Will not be coming back and won't recommend. Not worth the price.

This is an updated review from my original one 3 years ago. I gave it 5* back then and I'd give it more now if I could! We've been a few times and never been disappointed. The food is beautiful. The service is quick. And the staff are some of the best! Sharron needs to be mentioned... She's one of the friendliest and bubbliest people! Always makes you feel warm and welcome 😁 She's so good with kids as well. Our 2 year old loves seeing her!

We had a kids carvery and a standard carvery. Food was lovely and piping hot. Lovely little meal with my daughter. We are regulars so we will be back again

Updated Review: Under new management who are friendly and inviting. However vegan burger has changed and not as good as previous offering. So a little disappointed on our recent visit.(03/11/2024). —— Lovely food and service here. Sign of how good the food is, would have added a photo of the burger I had but it looked so good it was eaten before I remembered to photograph it. 🙃 Always feel welcomed when we come and great for the dog as well! Nice to be welcomed as an old friend especially by Sharon!

Dinner was nice apart from Veg which was hard

We dined as a group of 4 and were disappointed with the food and service. The restaurant wasn’t busy, and yet it still took 55 minutes for our food to arrive and when it did, it all arrived at different times, rather than together, so each person on our table ate separately to each other. For example, one of our group ordered 3 starters as their main and each part of their order arrived separately. The beef burger patties were cheap and thin. On the online order, you had the option to remove onions and burger sauce which I did, and the burger arrived with both. No attention to detail. Avoid!

Lovely food and service was great. Big shout out to Sharon who was a breath of fresh air, nothing was a bother and made sure our meal was as it should be.

Always love my carvery at Astley Arms. Think I came after the beef had all gone but still enjoyed a turkey and loads potato veg ...wemt back for veggie seconds ! Today the meal was cool in parts but I still enjoyed it and I know the staff would warm meal up again if I had asked . Sharon looked after me very well ..very friendly and always helpful.
