We went for a Sunday lunch and it was well worth the trip. We booked online and it was good that we did, the place was full. The meal was first rate with very generous portions. The service was excellent, both quick and courteous. It was a great experience and we will most definitely be coming back. If you want good food at reasonable prices, this is the place to find it.

Today we tried the Plough again. Been in past and has been a hit or a miss with the food, but i have to say today it was a fantastic experience. Taylor whom served us was very organised, proactive and very professional in her work. Outstanding service with us and other customers of what we observed, Taylor thank you. Now to the food.....food today was absolutely flawless, could not fault one thing. Had king Prawn starter and cheese and bacon burgers (2 beef patties) for main with skin on fries. My friend had Hunters Chicken for main and a Salted Caramel Brownie with vanilla icecream for dessert. £13.99 for 2 courses, excellent value. I will be back.

Randomly and unexpectedly went to the Plough Inn on my way north to Amble, arriving just after 2pm on New Year's Eve. The place sparsely populated, with only a couple of families, meaning it was a quiet venue. The server took me and my mother to our table and was very friendly and pleasant. She was very attentive. The meals ordered were two Sunday Roast dinners with beef, and in less than 10 it was served to us. The food was dreadful. The carrots were not peeled though edible. The Yorkshire pudding was bland, the roasts bland, the beef looks like it was bought from a supermarket, and to top it off, the sprouts were bitter, and the broccoli wasn't cooked. Chewing it was impossible, and the knife struggled to saw through it. This came to £30.80 for this! The quality of food was mentioned to the head server, who promptly took it away for the chef's attention but then returned with a sorry attitude, by passing the lazy chef's buck onto us, by implying we were difficult customers, the head server pointed out that people have difference preferences to how vegetables were cooked. I pointed out that my preference is have them cooked. I would highly recommend not visiting this place, for quality of the food, I'd struggle to pay pennies for it.

On arrival we were met by a very friendly member of staff who welcomed us with a friendly smile and pointed us to our dining area, on entry we were hit with a very unpleasant smell quite unusual. Pointed towards our table which was dirty and sticky, I fortunately found some wipes in my handbag. We had precooked the table so decided to try the food, after all we didn't want to prejudge. The food was hot but inedible. Gammon was tough and extremely salty, eggs were undercooked, snotty, Fish reported to be Cod!! Very grey and Pollock like. Sorry not value for money and definitely not worth a second visit.

We saw this pub whilst searching for places to eat around where we are staying for our holidays and thought it looked a nice little pub. We booked a table online for an evening meal. Arrived at 6:30pm. We chose our meals and ordered. Our food took around 20mins to arrive. The extra side we ordered was not brought out, so asked the waitress, who said she had forgotten to put it through. Upon checking with the kitchen, she came to say that the kitchen was closing and she wouldn’t be able to add the side!! We did enjoy the food we were served. When we had finished and the waitress came to clear the plates, we asked if we could order some desserts. We were told she would need to check with the kitchen and maybe only cold one’s would be available!! Upon her return, she advised us that Chef had closed the kitchen and no desserts were available!!! 😦😦 Food is advertised as being served from 5-8pm on a weekday evening, if there is a change to this, staff should be advising people as they enter the restaurant. We will not be returning!

I am absolutely appalled by the service we received today , first pint was served with a good level of customer service and then because the two female bar staff involved realised we were a gay couple the attitude totally changed and was absolutely appalling, we had nothing untoward , had caused no problems was very discreet and actually probably would have had another couple of drinks possibly even food but was made to feel so uncomfortable we decided to leave, please address this situation speak to the staff involved because I am sure working in customer service myself you would not find this acceptable or appropriate, if we are we are made to feel this uncomfortable again we will definitely take our custom elsewhere

After seeing this local family pub being advertised as being dog friendly I thought that I would book this for my wife and I to enjoy a Sunday roast with our dogs. As we entered the pub we were left in no uncertain terms that anyone who has dogs could only go into the bar area. As we walked in to say the atmosphere was cold, would ne a major understatement. Overhearing one of locals saying you can sit over there with those yappy dogs and later also saying that those dogs are really getting on my t#t's. As for the food, the meat was tepid in temperature as was the veg. The roast potatoes which looked like deep fried mashed potatoes, were the only hot thing on the plate. We finished our meal, only because we had not eaten all day so that we would appreciate the meal at its best! What a bad decision that was!

A rather small cod in batter with frozen skin on fries and frozen peas I found the meal only warm and the plate had no garnish to improve the look of it All the prices had gone up but disappointingly the quality hadn’t The dessert was a very small but nice tasting cheese cake with a teaspoon of ice cream, I did ask for more and some for my friend who had ordered Eaton mess which came as a bowl of white meringue and cream nothing else they apologised and brought some ice cream for her Don’t think I will be back again any time soon

I visited last Saturday afternoon with my family including a 6 year old and sat in the family friendly Lounge area. A nearby table were talking and they were using choice language which was clear to all of us at our table. We ignored it for over half an hour. It was frequent and repetitive and could be clearly heard from our table. Later they were joined by a fourth person and the language increased. Finally a fifth chap who had a fair bit to drink joined them and the swearing and volume jumped further and it became unbearable. A member of our table approached them and asked them to be mindful of the child with us. To be fair, they apologised profusely and we thought it was the end. Upon returning to our table a ‘what is the problem?’ was heard and I approached to explain, as I was at the bar, and I was told to leave it by the third chap, which I did. An original member of the table in question went to our table to make a further apology, which was awkward but accepted and then the same chap approached me at the bar. He again made an apology, no problem, and blamed the issue on the fourth chap having a few beers. I said to him that he (the chap talking to me) too was swearing for half an hour before - which he was - and this resulted in a denial and a very uncomfortable thirty seconds where he squared up to me. I was calm, non aggressive and even offered a hand out to apologise if I had offended him to diffuse the situation before he walked off. He then went through to the bar and was being aggressive toward me from the bar area, which resulted in my family and I feeling uncomfortable and immediately deciding to ditch our drinks and leave. In the restaurant, and only a few steps from me whilst I was being confronted, was a family including a baby in a high chair having a meal. I had an alcohol free beer whilst at the Plough as I was driving and was not inebriated in any way. There was no action taken by the young bar staff on duty at the time. If the table were in the bar, no problem, fair game as its a bar; but our family and my son would not have been in there - we were in the Lounge where kids are welcome. What makes this worse for me is that the chap who squared up to me is the parent of the current tenant of the Plough. I admire what the pub did during lockdown and for many years we visited the Plough on a Sunday and I have been keen to go in when work allowed, which is rare. To try to be fair to the Plough, I emailed them on Sunday and asked them for their comments. They hadn’t responded in any way within four days of my mail. It genuinely gives me no pleasure to say this but what other impression am I supposed to take? We did nothing wrong. Its clear to me that this is not a safe and reasonable place for families to go to and my family and I will never return.

We found this place by accident whilst trying to find somewhere to eat after visiting Alnwick Gardens on a Sunday lunchtime. The inside was quite dark (maybe a bit gloomy?) But we were hungry so decided to give it a go. We found a table easily as it was just after 12 and ordered 2 drinks and 2 roast dinners. The Guinness was good so my Husband was happy. Then we had one Cumberland and one gammon roast, both were hot and tasty and reasonable price. Overall very happy with the food and the service (just didn't like all the black paint everywhere!)
