Visited with wife, both had haddock fillets and chips. Fish was very good fresh from fryer but chips were rubbish, had been standing, looked dried plus 'bitsy'. Food got 3 star rating, 4 star for fish , 2 star for chips. Paid 16.95 each for meal, 3.00 for small 1cup pot of tea and 2.50 for something described as Fanta orange. Meal included slice bread and butter. Not sure I would revisit.

Dogs welcome! That lured us in and what a lovely greeting we received. Our booth at the far back was the best seat in the house, meaning our Golden Retriever had space to lay down without being in the way. Our meals - lite bite, scampi, posh fish burger and children's nuggets were all perfectly cooked, the chips especially. Would recommend.

I collected cod and chips for my family and it really wasn’t good. The cod was really thin and chewy and either the cod or batter had a strange taste. My wife and children wouldn’t even eat theirs! It was just chips for tea for them.

Was really busy and we had to wait a couple of minutes until they had cleared and cleaned a table, did not mind,. I am coeliac and was able to get gluten free jumbo sausage(2) and chips and my husband who does not have a big appetite anymore ordered children's fish and chips. We both had a diet coke which was flat when it arrived, they could not apologise enough and instead of 2 glasses of juice we were given 2 x 500ml bottles. 10/10

Formerly Pinnacles now The Hook. This is our normal place for a fish tea in Seahouses. A little nervous when we saw it had changed ownership but the quality of the food is very good. Lite byte for me and fish cakes for my wife. Batter is light and crispy, portion size is large. Thoroughly recommended. EDIT…. Were back 2 years later and the quality and speed of service are superb. Theres no need to queue at any other restaurant, The Hook delivers high quality fish teas in rapid fashion. Still our goto restaurant in Seahouses. Thoroughly recommended.

Spent a little time and visited Seahouses for the first time. Had a walk along the pier, looked into a view shops and had lunch in Hook fish and chips. We sat inside 8 of us all together. We had to sit in two groups of 4 as no tables big enough for us all. Sat down no problems and service was fast. Lovely greeting and food was delivered hot and quick. Not a single one of us were disappointed. All left with full bellys and ready for ice cream. Shout out to Alex our server nothing was too much for him and had a smile on his face from start to finish.

After a really nice meal our plates were cleared by a memeber of staff even though 1 of us was still eating. This put us off because they could have waited until the whole party had finished eating before clearing our plates. The place wasn't overly busy either so this can't be used as an excuse.

We visited Hook on a recent trip to Seahouses as it was one of the only Fish and Chip restaurants in the area that welcomed dogs and how glad we are that we did visit. The welcome was very warm and friendly (especially for the dog!). We were seated quickly and given time to browse the menu. After ordering, the drinks arrived almost instantly and the food not long after. The food was hot and incredibly fresh and tasty. The batter on the fish was perfect! It was a nice touch that bread and butter was included. The gentleman who served us (sorry, can't remember his name) was lovely and spent plenty of time talking with us and telling us about his dog too! We've been going to this restaurant for over 20 years - never again. At the booth next to us, there was a human, then a large dog, then another human. The dog was sitting up at the table, on the seating, like a human diner. The waitress brought their food, including a sausage for the dog. She said the dog had to eat it off the floor, but the dog objected to having to get down and barked so long and so loud that we couldn't hear each other at our own table. It did the same again when a dog walked by outside. There was also also another dog a few tables along squealing and begging for food. It felt like we were eating in a zoo, and really unpleasantly unhygienic. It's one thing to have a dog under a pub table, another to have it sitting up at the table.

I was looking for lunch, and of the available eating places in the centre of the village, this one looked the cleanest. It was, disappointingly, more like a slightly up-market McDonald's. The servers were friendly and young, doing holiday jobs for what must be minimum wage, and I felt sorry for them in the busy restaurant. The food was unadorned and thrown together, and the open kitchen looked quite chaotic. It was OK, but more fuel than food.

Hook fish and chips describes itself as fish and chips with a modern twist. The modern does not extend to their opening hours as they turned people away closing at 4pm on what I presume must be one of the busiest days despite a queue out of the door as they’re not cooking more chips at this time of night* *Night in this case being 3.55pm…. as the staff need to get a bus to Newcastle despite a queue of customers that could more than justify paying for alternative transport…

I like fish and chips but this was incredible! I’m from North Yorkshire and thought we had one of the best fish and chip shops going until me and my husband went to Hook Fish shop in Seahouses. ~We ordered~ •Fish and chips (Cod) which was worth what we paid at £11.50, (+cheaper than what we would usually pay) it’s was lovely fish, perfectly battered and a very good size! •Fishcake, again was worth what we paid about £7.50. lovely and crispy, perfect taste and better than what we had expected. •A battered sausage, which was delicious wasn’t too meaty but also tasted like something, crispy and plenty batter. We got chips with the fish and fishcake, The chips were delicious, cooked perfectly, Just the right amount of Potato, fluffy but still crispy on the outside! We did takeaway option, the shops was clean and tidy, looked it in the restaurant side too. Staff were really nice and friendly all had a smile on there face and would go above and beyond to help. Under new management, last time we ate here was pre covid, a 7 person 3 generation seated tea. That was good, and worthy of 5 stars on all fronts. It's under new management, into its second year Called in for fish & chips (a portion shared between us and mushy peas) as Lewis's and Neptune both had big queues and we were in a hurry. I should have opted to wait! Fish; haddock for the missus, cod for me, was OK. Reasonable portion size, crisp but pretty thick batter, but certainly not as good size or flavour as our usual choice, the chip van along at Beadnell. Chips were pretty average. Well salted, and generously soaked in vinegar, Ok for me, but possibly not to everyone's taste. Mushy peas, perfect. Price wise again pretty average. Service quick and efficient, a little distant but that's not what you go to a chippy for. So in conclusion, whilst there's nothing wrong with their offering, I'd suggest Lewis's or if not them then Neptune if you're in any way fussy about your fish and chips, and if you want the best take away take the 2 mile trip down to Beadnell and use the mobile chippy there.

The staff were particularly friendly and made our daughter very happy. We usually go there for a takeaway but decided sit in this time. The portions are generous so don't worry about going hungry. It's worth noting that whilst you can easily pay on card, you'll have to bring cash if you'd like to leave a tip. Little did I know how runined it would be. First of all the two coffees wins the award for the Worlds Worst coffees I Iave ever had in my whole life and Im a coffee lover but nah not from here ever again. And to top it off we ordered fish and chips only to find a massive long black greasy hair entangled in our food. Above all the amount of salt they put on the chips was have the beach. Not to mention the dirty looks from the cooks in the back that kept on looking to sort of say we were about to close up but thanks we have to stay now. Sadly our planned romantic walk turned out to be ruined by the poor quality of food and service. The only winner was the seagulls and the bin the coffees went In.
