Chose this as a budget option which looked ok from reviews. It was every bit as good as promised. Our room was well-appointed and very comfortable and the bathroom excellent too. Breakfast was cooked to order and was delicious. The staff are warm and friendly and nothing too much trouble. I certainly hope to return for a longer stay.

We arrived and were greeted in a hugely welcoming and friendly manner and were shown to our room, which was furnished with real taste and comfort. The view from our room was not brilliant but that didn't matter as the room itself was really lovely and the bathroom was large and well appointed. Breakfast was a real treat - a lovely mixture of local foods such as sausages and bacon from the Amble butcher, and the hosts attentions were unflagging. The other guests had clearly stayed before and the friendly ambience was just what we needed aftewr a long day's travel. A really good expience which we commend to others.

We popped in while in the lovely little town . I understand, the owners here are new, and at the moment just do cakes, sandwiches, panninis etc. But what they have is really good. The cakes and scones are home made, and really nice. They alsodo a selection of gluten free cakes. Service is very friendly, and had time for a chat.

What a gem of a place. It's only small but has bags of atmosphere and the food is very good. The young waitresses were very efficient, nothing was too much trouble and they always had a smile on their faces. The food was excellent - the Coronation Chicken on the jacket potato was really very good. Excellent value for money - two jacket potatoes and two teas for £13.00.

We were visiting Amble on a walk and were looking for somewhere for a sunday lunch. We came across The Harbour tea room and thought it was very reasonable priced (especially with the prices some of the restaurants were charging) so decided to give it a try. Boy, are we glad we did! It isn't very big inside, with probably only 6 tables though there is a seating area outside as well. We ordered two large and one normal sunday lunches of pork and 2 lamb. The service was excellent from the young waitress who was coping admirably with a full house. We didn't have to wait too long and were very impressed when it arrived. The portion sizes of both were excellent and just right for us, all of the veg were fresh rather than frozen, there was a lot of meat on the plate and the gravy was homemade. We couldn't fault it at all and it really set us up for the rest of our walk. If you are visiting Amble, be sure to visit this tea room.

Following a visit to Amble Sunday market, my family and I visit the Harbour tea rooms whilst on holiday and have never been disappointed. We always sit outside as we have dogs and the service is efficient and friendly. The coffee and cakes are delicious which ensures that we keep on returning. 😃

Amble is quite a touristy area and as the other tearooms/cafés were filled, we stopped for a scone and tea at the Harbour Guest House. Several familes and couples were enjoying their Sunday roasts and I noticed that the menu has various sizes of the Sunday meal so that you can order the amount that you want and only have to pay for that amount. Our scones were good and the waitress pleasant. The restrooms are located outside at the back of the building so you have to, depending on the weather, bundle up before heading there.

The food here is basic but good. I had steak pie and chips. My Husband had sausage, egg and chips. They do of course have a selection of cakes and also do cream teas. The waitress was friendly and the service good. Would go back if ever visiting Amble again.

We had been on the boat trip to Coquet Island and to be honest didn't find Amble particularly appealing. However we had lunch in this delightful café and was far from disappointed. The place is spotless and the food very hot - why are these two things not the norm elsewhere? We intend to return when next in the area.

Second review of the Café as we enjoyed the food so much last year, we had to go back. My wife and I weren't disappointed. My Full English was unbeatable again and my wife was well satisfied with her choice. Felt the need to counter some of the negative comments. Our experience has been very positive. We came off the A1 on our way South just to eat here.

Had lunch the other day in this lovely little cafe. Being gluten free I have found myself on many an occasion in the being reduced to having soup. Opted for a baked potato which was nice and hot with several choice of fillings. My other half opted for a scone which had been warmed. There was also several choice of gluten free cakes. Definitely worth a visit as there's something for everyone. A huge thanks to the lovely girl who served us promptly with a nice manner and a smile. Keep up the good work girls!

This BnB was acceptable for a cheap stay. Facilities and room are basic, but I did find it to be very noisy, from traffic outside and noises inside. Didn't get much sleep.

Well run and clean accommodation. A friendly welcome from the owners. Good Indian restaurant nearby. Breakfast was good. There are very steep stairs to upstairs accommodation which might be an issue for some. Amble is a great location on the coast.

Called in for sandwich and tea. Asked for the tea to be delivered with the sandwich, unfortunately tea arrived about 10 mins before sandwich meaning it was luke warm by the time we were ready to drink it. Disappointing that a simple request cannot be followed

I'm on record as having said on many occasions that if they awarded PhDs for scone-tasting, I should have a dozen. I've eaten scones in venues from the Orkney Islands to Australia and written about them in more publications than I could possibly remember. So, you can take my word for it that the freshly-baked, home-made scones (with butter and strawberry jam) at No.6 are quite possibly the best I've tasted in recent years. Cafe No 6 is a quaint place with a very atmospheric first-floor eating area, a delightful owner and staff who look like they are actually enjoying the job they do. My wife and I were just as impressed with the special 'doggy menu' on offer. We shall be back!

I’m so sad to see this lovely place closed. It had great staff and atmosphere and a fantastically good smoked haddock chowder. I wish its people all the best and I thank them for all the great visits we’ve had here. I really hope that there might be a replacement cafe of such quality. We’ll watch with interest.

Having been for a lovely meal a year ago we promised ourselves Christmas lunch this year. It was not cheap - £240 for 2 but we expected a nice experience so didn't mind. On arrival I was offered a drink and a waitress on her way back to the kitchen offered a left over canape. They said they were bringing more out but these never appeared - my husband didn't get one at all. There was nowhere to sit in the hall and as I struggle to stand for any length I had to ask about being seated. There was nowhere to hang coats except on the back of the dining chair canteen style. Please note we had been to The Grand Tynemouth the previous day and coats had been taken and hung on a rail. The room was undecorated for Christmas and cramped. We were sat at a very feeble table that seemed to have been assembled that morning-very rickety. After about 10 minutes a bread roll was brought. Great we thought food is coming. 20 minutes later the starter arrived. Considering we had pre'ordered early in December it should have been more organised. The starter we chose -pate- came with a very strange slice of bread? That I can only liken to jamaica ginger cake - not at all compatible. Then followed a long wait for the plates to be collected. No sign of a drinks waiter we had been there almost an hour. We eventually caught a chap who had delivered drinks to a nearby table and he did serve us. Dinner finally arrived - and I can tell you it wasn't just us. We were all looking around wondering what was happening. Nearly 45 minutes later. The dinner itself was not pleasant and definitely not worth the £240 cost. The roasts were not crisp. The turkey appeared to be pressed meat. The stuffing seemed to be commercial rubbery type. To say we were disappointed does not overstate it. I wasn't prepared to wait another 30 minutes or more for a sliver of Christmas pudding. So we left. Eshott what were you doing??? The whole thing was a shambles and definitely not what we expected or anticipated. You didn't appear to have enough staff. You crammed too many people in and your chef must have had a day off. Ruined what we had been looking forward to.
