Food was great, one of our more discerning sausage sandwich eaters voted this the best sausage sandwich they had had and "proper" sauce was on offer. The Craster kipper bun was really good. Great coffee, lovely friendly staff, who thankfully helped us find where we were going (no mobile reception in Craster and the Tourist Info is now closed permanently).

Not a restaurant, but a shop. We've visited previously and saw inside the smokehouse, but were here for kippers this time. As we were staying elsewhere, the very knowledgeable lady behind the counter said we'd better have the vacuum packed version, so they wouldn't stink out the car, and then told us how to prepare the kipper so they wouldn't stink out the house! They were just delicious. Also the Crab Terrine in jars is just wow. It's worth the trip if you're in the area.

Stopped off at this lovely pub for an ad hoc lunch date. Cosy pub. Warm welcome I had small portion of fish and chips, great value for money. Lovely homemade tartar sauce and fabulous chips. My wife had steak sandwich, apparently steak tender and plentiful. Pudding menu looked great, maybe next time! Thanks folks

We must have gone on a good day (looking at other reviews). Although we sat outside in the sun, the interior looked warm and welcoming with nice decor. Plumped for the crayfish and prawn ‘Stottie’ ( a huge north country roll for southerners!) which was fresh, fully filled and served with French fries. All in all, really enjoyed our ‘pit stop’ at this pub. Staff even came out to ask if the dogs would like some water - nice touch.

I’m so sad to see this lovely place closed. It had great staff and atmosphere and a fantastically good smoked haddock chowder. I wish its people all the best and I thank them for all the great visits we’ve had here. I really hope that there might be a replacement cafe of such quality. We’ll watch with interest.

We first had lunch here in 2015 when it was famous for fish, it was really good so we looked forward to going back this year, but it looks like the owners have changed. We checked by phone that it was OK to take our dog if we ate on the terrace. We arrived, by bicycle, with our dog, there was a side alley from the car park so we assumed that was the way to the terrace, they had said we could not go through the building with the dog. There was a gate saying 'Private, no access to beach" so as we were customers not beachgoers we assumed that didn't mean us. A lady came out and was very sharp with us, it was a private garden for guests staying at the hotel, restaurant customers were not allowed to use it (although it led to the terrace). If we wanted to eat on the terrace with our dog we had to walk 100 metres up the road then 100 metres back along the beach, clamber over some rocks and up a steep staircase, definitely not good if you have any walking difficulties. Anyway the only seat available on the terrace was a bit chilly with the breeze that day, we felt our food would not stay hot. The more sheltered seats were all taken (you could not book tables on the terrace). The menu was very ordinary pub food, so we left, cycled down to Alnmouth and had a really nice lunch in a dog-friendly restaurant, at the Whittling House Hotel. The area has some very good restaurants, we had a terrific seafood lunch the next day at the Old Boathouse in Amble, so I would not go out of my way to eat at Boulmer again. After our visit we met local people who felt that the Fishing Boat proprietor does not have a good attitude to customers.

This is an amazing place!! We stayed here for the week while we were exploring the Northumberland area. The staff are ALL fantastic!! So friendly and helpful! We couldn't have wished for a better place to stay. The bar area is warm and comfortable and, judging by the people in there every day, very popular with locals and visitors alike. Breakfast was first-class and freshly cooked to order... really tasty. Our ensuite room was lovely too, very neat, comfortable and tidy and immaculately clean. We were looked after sooooo well that we felt like family. We had booked to eat dinner there on our first evening but enjoyed it so much that we ended up eating dinner there four out of the seven evenings. Next time we visit Northumberland (which we WILL do) we will DEFINITELY be staying (and eating) at the Tankerville Arms. We can't recommend this establishment highly enough!
