We went to this restaurant as a group of 8. It was really nice that it was so close to our accommodation in the old police house. A few of us had the fish and chips, which were really fresh a couple had the burgers and one person had the risotto.A couple of people had sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The service was prompt and it was a really enjoyable dining experience,,we would all definitely recommend this restaurant.

A big effort has clearly been made by the owners as the investment into the fabric of the building is obvious. Recenyly refurbished bar and restaurant are stunning. Unfortunately, if this is not mirrored by the service, the return on that investment will be significantly diluted. I entered the bar at 6.20 and waited patiently until the two staff had finished their converstion. No welcome was given so I simply ordered a bottle of beer (330ml). This was served along with a pint glass, so incorrect size. I then asked if a table for two was available and was told they were short staffed and therefore couldn't. No apology or empathy was evident. I them asked if any sort of food was available as I'd seen signs for takeaway fish and chips. The member of staff seemed irritated by my request and replied that she would ask the chef. Whilst she was in the kitchen I paid for my bottle of beer with her colleague. On her return she confirmed that there was absolutely no possibility of any type of food. Again this news was delivered in an offhand manner. I absolutely accept that there are times when restaurants are at maximum capacity, however the service team need to be able to impart this news with empathy and politeness. I then chose to sit outside and enjoy the early evening sun, it was at that point when the staff member virtually shouted across the bar "have you paid for that beer?" I confirmed that I had paid her colleague that she was standing next to. Please don't think this poor review was due to not being able to dine, that was fine as I should of booked earlier. I just feel that the owners are being let down by a member of staff who should ckearly not be in the service industry.

Did say when he handed us the bill but very unhelpful waiter plus it was not that busy so we left and will not return Need training in hospitality

This is most definitely the best Embleton has to offer. On our first day in Embleton, we were sitting outside at some of their pavement tables, when a young bloke approached us very friendly and set the scene as to how friendly this place was going to be. 2nd visit was for a drink in the bar area, again friendly staff. 3rd visit was for some take away fish and chips, just outstanding 4th visit was for a full meal in the dining room, very luxurious and again very friendly staff 5th visit on our last night was more fish and chips as a take away. The running and constant theme was how friendly the staff were and how they genuinely looked out for their customers. Special huge shout out to the young bloke (bald guy in his 30s) who is a star. (Didn’t get the guys name but he was in the bar with his friends spaniel one night)

We were staying in Embleton for a week and popped into the hotel a few times for both food and drinks. The hotel is very nice, tastefully decorated, clean, well looked after and well run. I was blown away by our evening meal, a starter of smoked salmon with capers and a main of sea bass, beautifully presented and top notch tasty 🤤 On two occasions we opted for their takeaway fish and chips which was also outstanding. This was the place to go in Embleton for us and great because we could take our wee dog too. It’s so good to visit an establishment that is clearly looked after and cared about backed up by friendly staff. Highly recommend 😊

We had a lovely Sunday evening meal. We had booked a dog friendly table and could not have had better service. There were four of us and three dogs. We had plenty of space and the staff were fabulous. They were so friendly and welcoming to us and especially dogs. Even our sleepy greyhound would get up to have a cuddle as they walked past. All of the staff managed the great mix of friendly and professional service. The food was a spot on traditional pub Sunday lunch style menu including a vegetarian option with plenty of perfectly cooked vegetables for all. Beautiful beer garden, and only a mile from home. Usually a decent pint of beer too, but tonight was an exception. I can accept being served sour beer, I can even accept being served short measures because the bar staff have never been shown the correct way to pull a pint. But not one word of apology and being made to wait for a replacement pint at an empty bar as though I was an inconvenience!? Not the way to pull the locals in.

We eagerly awaited our mains and again in no time at all were served our mains by the very attentive and friendly staff My wife's fish was huge and not a bit of grease in sight on either the fish or the plentiful chips and all cooked fresh and to perfection My chicken was lovely and again superbly cooked We both enjoyed a wonderful meal and definitely thought it excellent value for money Could not under any circumstance fault the restaurant or the staff who were excellent and we will certainly visit again Thank you for a lovely meal

We hadn’t visited this place for a long time so being in the area thought we would call as we were really hungry. We parked right outside that was great stepping into the bar we did notice it had changed, the dark wood interior was now a lovely mint green, I asked if they had a table for two and the reply was sit where you like. Looking round I could see we had a lot of choice the place was empty only a couple sitting at one table. We sat at our usual table the lady gave us both a menu and took our drinks order. Look at the menu I went for the duck my other half as he was very hungry chose the steak ,she quickly came back placed the drinks down and said - Oooo ! I forgot to say we are having work done in the kitchen only sandwiches and chips. NOW!! We should of told her to keep her drinks and why on earth did she give us the menu, but we were so hungry I said have you soup then or if you are doing chips can you do fish, she said she would ask. She can back and said yes you can have fish . Hubby need the loo and couldn’t remember where it was he ask at the bar and was told down the corridor first on the right the bucket in the middle of the floor, I think she thought it was funny my husband certainly didn’t. All I could think was my goodness what has happened to this lovely place, you can’t talk to a old gentleman like that show some respect. When he returned his lunch was on the table it did look nice but it was so greasy. All I can say is never ever again

Dined here on the final night of our stay in Embleton last week. The staff were friendly and reassuring (I have a shellfish and crustacean allergy), I could choose from the whole menu, other than a dish containing King Prawns, which was rather refreshing given the restrictions my allergy causes in many other places owing to possible cross contamination. My food was well cooked, well presented and overall delicious, my three companions were also delighted with their meals. I look forward to dining there again next time we visit Northumberland.

First time I've been there to stay, have known the hotel over many years for its bar and restaurant. Overall, a great stay - the hotel is in a wonderful location for touring and staying in Northumberland and all the staff we met were local, friendly and helpful. There is new management we are told and a long overdue refurbishment is under way. Dogs are welcome in the rooms which is great for dog owners - dogs are often welcome in bars but not as staying guests. There is a small surcharge. We don't have a dog despite being very dog friendly. A little more care is needed in cleaning the public areas of dog hairs and smells. The latter was particularly noticeable in our room which had very poor ventilation. During our last supper, a woman at an adjoining table was complaining about 'dogs underfoot' in the public areas. It's hard to get the balance right for everyone, likewise with children. Our last supper was spoilt by the screaming of a small child in the dining room. The staff plus the three adults that were with the child could not soothe it. The child was undressed and passed across the table between the adults several times, who took it out of the room from time to time. Not the behaviour I expect in a hotel dining room in the evening. The waiting staff were all young and doing their best, rather late for such a small child. Hopefully, management will accept these comments in the friendly spirit they are offered and will perhaps consider a dining/sitting area that is family and dog friendly - it's a lovely large establishment so there is plenty of scope.

We visited this hotel for a 2 night stay. We chose it as it advertised that it was dog friendly. When we booked in we were advised to reserve a table for dinner as the 'dog friendly ' lounge had limited space. We did this and when we arrived sat down at our allotted table. The dog friendly lounge turned out to be half of a large lounge with 4 dinning tables. The other half of the room had sofas and easy chairs which we thought would be good to relax in afterwards. Sadly although no one else was there the waiter informed us of an imaginary line down the middle of the room that people with dogs were not permitted to cross. We were also told they weren't allowed in the bar so we had nowhere to sit for a drink or coffee other than the dinning table. We have travelled all over the country to many 4 and 5 star hotels with our dog and have never had this problem. We would understand not being allowed in the main dinning room but if hotels are advertising that they are dog friendly they should be just that. Room clean enough but very small with a tiny tv. If you visit in winter heat could be an issue as only one ancient electric wall heater. Food ok but expensive like the room. Receptionist said breakfast would be an extra £54 for 2 days so went elsewhere. Two nights without breakfast £228 plus £10 for the not so welcome pooch. This hotel is probably ok if you are dog free as the bar and dinning room looked quite nice from outside but not so good if you can't use the hotel facilities.

On the first visit we enjoyed Roast Sunday Lunch in the lovely garden, My wife had Pork and I had the Beef, both were excellent, good selection of vegetables and good value as were the deserts; Eton Mess and Lemon Posset. On our second visit we intended having an evening meal in the garden, but unfortunately evening meals are not severed in the garden so we were giving a table in the dog friendly restaurant, a quiet room with approx four tables. I had salmon platter followed by lamb rump with spotted dick for desert, my wife had garlic mushrooms followed by sea bass with lemon posset for desert. All of the food was excellent and well presented. With four drinks the bill was approx £77.00. A price we would expect for an meal of this standard. Would fully recommend this hotel for food, particularly eating in the garden.

We recently stayed in the hotel for a short break, we ate for two of the nights and the food was really great value for money. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to go back very soon in either one of the cottages or the hotel again. Lovely staff and just a nice, clean and friendly place to stay.

Very well appointed public areas and warm welcoming staff. I only had lunch so my experience is limited. It looks like an hotel that has stood there for many years with dignity. The lunch was very nice with lovely soup and a sandwich. I aim to return to stay in the future

We wanted something better than pub food and atmosphere and the grill here was perfect. Food was excellent, matched with very good service, in a smart but relaxed atmosphere.

The starters were ok, nothing special. Of the mains, the pasta was overcooked. Nice decor. Heard later from others that the lamb was good, so maybe that's a point to bear in mind.

this place is open to non residents and has very good beer, we went most nights and tried a couple of meals each, both meals were very good, sea bass and a fishcake starter steak and chips very good to name a couple would go back again as well kept beer and food were very good and welcomed on arrival by the staff, a little pricey £6.05 for a pint and a half but you being a hotel it would be

The staff were welcoming and food was generally good. Only observation is that they were very busy and the starter of smoked haddock gratin was a little over cooked. Lamb was excellent and fish and chips also. The vegetarian option lacked imagination and the roasted pepper was hardly cooked let alone roasted. We would go again.

After passing this hotel many times and seeing the lovely starched white tablecloths through the window in the restaurant, we looked at the menu on the website and decided to book.

Four of us stopped here for lunch while we were out for a cycle. There’s a lovely garden with outside seating which was perfect as the sun was shining. Two of us opted for the crab sandwiches. We were close to the coast and had high expectations. When they arrived, we were immediately disappointed. They were made from ordinary sliced bog standard bread and had a thin filling of what seemed like crab paste. Really not worth the quite expensive price tag.

We all enjoyed our meals in the pub here. The fish and chips were great for sharing and we ordered 2 meals for 3 people. There was a choice of garden or mushy peas with the meal too. I enjoyed the BLT and our granddaughter had a lovely sausage and mash lunch. My daughter really enjoyed her hot chocolate and my Americano with cream was excellent. The entrance is inviting and there are two lounges for visitors to enjoy. The bathrooms were very clean.

I have mistakenly submitted a review for the hotel side of Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel, when my husband and I only visited for lunch; suffice to say that our experience and meals were excellent, and I expressed the wish to check in as it's a beautiful place!

A well-stocked and pretty pub garden lies opposite the inn, over the quiet road, and we had a late lunch in the sun surrounded by trees. The menu is rather expensive but everything was excellent quality, from the professional service, to the delicious hot baguettes, dressed salads, and the fresh crab sandwich I'd been waiting to have during the whole holiday in Northumberland. Inside, the hotel was very well-appointed, everything smelled fabulous, and we want to return for an overnight stay next time.

Went to celebrate an 80th birthday (not mine) I cannot recommend this place enough , on holiday locally and had 2 dogs so booked for the dog friendly lounge , food was amazing and the staff so accommodating , even though we had one very awkward person food wise in our party , they were more than happy to accommodate her by removing all the flavour and burning the meat ! Very reasonably priced , considering the quality of food (I had food with all the flavour) staff very friendly and funny , and the gentleman who is the owner or manager I presume is an absolute hoot . No complaints at all from our party of 9 , or the 2 dogs .

Called in at lunch time for a drink on 4 of the 7 days we were staying at a cottage in the area. The hot pork sandwich was really tasty and washes and they serve Estrella on draught which is always a plus. A visit is highly recommended if you are staying nearby!

We booked a Suite with direct access to outside for our dog. The staff were friendly in the hotel. However, no-one told us that the outside door lead into the rubbish area from the kitchen. The room was cold on arrival. There was a distinctive damp smell throughout. The towel rail in bathroom never worked so bathroom was permanently cold. There was noise in the evening and early morning as the room backed onto occupied houses where people left for work early morning. The bed was the smallest double I’ve ever experienced. So we did not sleep much. Breakfast was poor. Very small buffet was on offer and again although the waiting staff were pleasant the quality of food was poor. The dinner was ok. However, as dog owners we felt like second-class citizens being put in a separate lounge which doubled as a restaurant. Not sure we shall return. If you do go, avoided Suite 22.

Really great stay at this hotel. The room was spotlessly clean with a really comfortable bed. We had both breakfast and evening meal and both were cooked superbly. The staff were very helpful in particular the young lady who served us our meals who was really friendly and efficient helping towards a pleasant time. I would be happy to stay here again.

We arrived here on a wet October Sunday after 2pm, we were pleased to get a comfortable table near the fire. We chose to have the Sunday lunch and we found it to be great. Service was fairly prompt and very pleasant. We would gladly eat there again.

We are just back from a 3 day stay in Embleton and ate here every night. This was our second visit to Embleton and also ate here previously. Friendly, efficient staff and lovely food. I really appreciated the varied vegetarian food. Super choice and very tasty. My husband(non veggie) really enjoyed the meals he had too. I can't comment on the hotel as such as we did not stay here but the hotel has a lovely relaxed feeling. Do visit if you are in the area.

We were very pleased to find that this hotel serves a vegetarian version of Sunday lunch - which consists of an array of very nicely cooked vegetables plus roast potatoes and boiled potatoes, a Yorkshire pudding and vegetarian gravy - all for just under seven pounds. It is extremely good value for money and the surroundings are very pleasant. we have eaten this lunch twice in the past month and look forward to the next occasion after we have finished a walk on the glorious beach.

As always the food was amazing and the portions very generous. A lovely warm welcome and Sarah went above and beyond when one of our party decided after our meals were brought out that she would like some bread and butter with her meal. Sarah sorted it out without any fuss.

We stopped by chance at The Percy Arms for a drink and ended up eating an amazing meal-Wednesday afternoon and very quiet but the food was delicious and the service excellent. The soup was very tasty and the steak cooked to perfection - we will return!

I’m so sad to see this lovely place closed. It had great staff and atmosphere and a fantastically good smoked haddock chowder. I wish its people all the best and I thank them for all the great visits we’ve had here. I really hope that there might be a replacement cafe of such quality. We’ll watch with interest.

Our introduction to this country pub was to a spacious, comfortable, immaculately clean bedroom, with stunning views of the fells. Next dinner and cooking of Michelin quality. A highlight was the scallop with belly pork, a brilliant dish. Next morning breakfast, again flawless in every respect from the service to the produce. Any prospective dining pub owner/chef should come here to see how it's done.

My partner & I came here on Sunday for a spot of lunch we both had Fish & Chips ( I had salad with mine instead of chips) I have to say the fish was amazing I would say 100 times better than you would get at a fish shop. The batter was so light & crispy and the fish tasted so good. The staff made us feel so welcome happy smiling faces and we did not have to wait long before our food came I would whole heartily recommend plants plus for lunch
