We stopped by chance at The Percy Arms for a drink and ended up eating an amazing meal-Wednesday afternoon and very quiet but the food was delicious and the service excellent. The soup was very tasty and the steak cooked to perfection - we will return!

Food was very poor, nothing appeared to be homemade and very ordinary at gastropub prices. Young staff not trained, didn't know the beers or the menu. We believe this pub has changed hands recently so beware

We visited on a quiet Monday in Jan. We had a warm welcome & can’t fault the service. Portions are very generous- we shared the brie starter & then had the homemade pie. This was utterly delicious & huge! I had decided to have the cheese for ‘pud’ & asked for it to be room temperature, which was no problem. Again, the portion size was v generous! There was plenty to share & we considered a ‘doggie bag’! The bill was way less than we were expecting, & we noticed we paid an ‘early-bird’ price! Total surprise! Thank you for a great start to our trip to Northumberland!

Upmarket pub with rooms. Good food and service. Menu provides the usual pub food (fish and chips, pie etc) but also has a menu of 'gastro' food which was limited but tasty and well presented. Good value.

We visited on a busy Wednesday night, having phoned ahead and booked, although we were warned in advance that it may be a while before we were able to eat that night as they were pretty booked up. They were right - when we arrived the pub was fairly busy with a mixture of locals and hotel guests and a bustling atmosphere. As warned, everything did take a while to happen, getting a drink, getting our table, being served food - but we had been warned, and the food when it arrived was worth the wait. Delicious pub food which we happily ate up. I think they could do better with more staff. And we did have to keep going to the bar to ask for more drinks, get the pudding menu, etc. so the table service was fairly poor - but this may have been because it was a busy night. Overall I would say it was a good place if you’re not in a rush and happy to go with the flow - as the food is lovely, but the service could be improved for sure.

This is a busy place as a lot of weddings are held here although we were mid week the place was busy and as a result we waited a long time for food and between courses, staff were run of their feet, but the food was great and worth waiting for. My only complaint was no choice of tonic as a gin drinker and several gins from all over the country available the only tonic available was awful super sweet and completely spoilt my drink I was told it was a local tonic I had never heard of, would suggest they stock a tonic we have heard of like Fever tree, or Schweppes.

The main bar area is beautifully decorated, a nice balance of old and new. The food is of top restaurant quality. We had the seafood sharing platter and couldn't manage it all. The lamb main course was pink and melt in the mouth - fantastic. The welcome was good, the staff friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend this place.

Wanted light lunch and chose mushroom and ham omelettes which came with large homemade chips and salad and a hot lamb roll and ham salad sandwich both with fries. All good except sandwich bread bit dry and not much ham . Lamb came with jug of gravy which was good . Omelettes were very good . With drinks it was £40 . Decor very nice and staff very friendly and helpful.

Lunch time service offered a warm crackling fire and what appeared to be the festive menu but still enough choice to avoid more turkey, by the 2nd January. Food was very well presented on boards and was better than our already high expectations. Well done. Smart tidy decor with style. Refreshing to see the effort to make the place nice, has been made. Young lady on the bar service was very service focused, however the gentleman was less so - but maybe just quiet in his personality, but not enough to make me not return. We will.

Ate here last week on our visit to Belford looking forward to it as we had heard good reviews and when we arrived the car park was certainly full. On entering though we werent shown to the restaurant as such but seated near the bar area which sort of put a dampener on the night as the bar was full and the noise spilled into our little alcove. That said the food was varied and the courses we selected were all nicely cooked and although a bit slow at initial service everything was fine

Ate here 3 times during our stay at the excellent Chatton Park House which is twenty minutes easy walk away. Each night, staff were friendly and helpful. Food was always well prepared and presented and really tasty. We particularly liked the black pudding starter (but other starters were also delicious) and the fish and chips on Friday (again other dishes were much enjoyed). Only managed pudding on the last night and can definitely recommend the sticky toffee pudding. Will definitely return!

A perfect setting and the food was lovely, but the service was incredibly slow and even though it was very early evening and the restaurant nearly empty many items from the menu were sold out. Food and drinks rather overpriced. Shame, this has the potential to be great.

Great atmosphere and service, however the quality of food was not as good as I was expecting. We ordered a pie which was served in a tinfoil dish and pastry was all stuck to the bottom and the gravy was poured all over the plate and the tinfoil!! It would have been much better if we could have actually eaten the pastry!!!

Strange to read a recnt review of this place. We stayed in Otterburn last week (30th May until 6th June) and the Percy Arms was closed and has been for some time it seems. We were told it is having a major refurbishment and will not be open again for some time.

We were staying nearby and called in here as it was the closest pub. It has been decorated and modernised recently and it is a fantastic place to drink and eat. The pub is also dog friendly which was a perfect way to sit and relax after a long walk.

We arrived on a dark, wet, windy November afternoon to take tea! The first thing that greeted us was a nice lady on Reception surrounded by candles - the electricity was off! That, however, added to the atmosphere to be honest! As others have noted the place is rather run down & lacking in decent decor but the tea we had was just wonderful. Very obviously home made & fabulous for it, plentiful & accompanied by a glass of bubbly, the tea was really good value. We had booked on a Groupon offer & wanted to take an extra friend - most places would want the full price for the extra person but not the Percy Arms - they honoured the deal, which was really decent of them. The log burner was regularly stoked & we had a great time, with lovely staff who couldn't do enough for you. Would recommend it and would visit again, combining it with a visit to the Mill shop possibly?!

My partner & I came here on Sunday for a spot of lunch we both had Fish & Chips ( I had salad with mine instead of chips) I have to say the fish was amazing I would say 100 times better than you would get at a fish shop. The batter was so light & crispy and the fish tasted so good. The staff made us feel so welcome happy smiling faces and we did not have to wait long before our food came I would whole heartily recommend plants plus for lunch

I’m so sad to see this lovely place closed. It had great staff and atmosphere and a fantastically good smoked haddock chowder. I wish its people all the best and I thank them for all the great visits we’ve had here. I really hope that there might be a replacement cafe of such quality. We’ll watch with interest.

As always the food was amazing and the portions very generous. A lovely warm welcome and Sarah went above and beyond when one of our party decided after our meals were brought out that she would like some bread and butter with her meal. Sarah sorted it out without any fuss.

I'm on record as having said on many occasions that if they awarded PhDs for scone-tasting, I should have a dozen. I've eaten scones in venues from the Orkney Islands to Australia and written about them in more publications than I could possibly remember. So, you can take my word for it that the freshly-baked, home-made scones (with butter and strawberry jam) at No.6 are quite possibly the best I've tasted in recent years. Cafe No 6 is a quaint place with a very atmospheric first-floor eating area, a delightful owner and staff who look like they are actually enjoying the job they do. My wife and I were just as impressed with the special 'doggy menu' on offer. We shall be back!
