My partner & I came here on Sunday for a spot of lunch we both had Fish & Chips ( I had salad with mine instead of chips) I have to say the fish was amazing I would say 100 times better than you would get at a fish shop. The batter was so light & crispy and the fish tasted so good. The staff made us feel so welcome happy smiling faces and we did not have to wait long before our food came I would whole heartily recommend plants plus for lunch

We used to regularly enjoy breakfast sandwiches here but the last time the bread bun was only about half the usual size and instead of 2 large sausages in each there was only 1/2 a sausage. Same price though!!!

Used to be a friendly place to visit and we've been regular customers. I remenber when they were glad to have customers. Called in today and found the staff to be extremely surly and sarcastic. It will be a long time before we visit again. There are plenty of other garden centres to visit in the area.

Excellent Sunday lunch. A friend recommended here for a Sunday lunch and we were certainly very impressed. The meat was plentiful, tender and tasty (I had beef, my parents had pork). The Yorkshire pudding was one of the best I’ve eaten out in a very long time. There was a wide range of vegetables, cooked well and enough gravy. We did have to wait a little while, the cafe was very busy, but it was definitely worth the wait. We’ll be back soon, I’m sure. Thank you to all of the chefs and staff, great job.

I have been a faithful customer of this Plantsplus for a number of years, visiting almost once a week but now have noticed that the standards of the food in the Restaurant is obviously deteriorating. This has been noticeably visible with our last four visits. Today we had for Lunch Cheese & Onion Quiche with Veg & I had Chips whilst my Wife had Potatoes. The Quiche was deplorable hardly tasting at all of Cheese. The Pastry was soggy and was sticking to the plate. the Chips were only part cooked and also soggy whilst my Wife's Potatoes were seriously overcooked. The whole meal was not of the standard that we have usually had & the standards of the food is no where as near as it used to be. Have they changed the Chef as we always bought Scones to take Home but for our last two visits have avoided that due to the standards of them slipping. The other thing is that the Menu Choices are no where near like they sed to be with very little true choice and come on the Main Course selection shows "Fish Finger Sandwich" with Chips for a Lunch Course. What happened to the Cumberland Sausage Ring & the other good Lunch Time choices. They have a very good Butcher on site but obviously not taking advantage of it. Both my Wife & I have had very extensive experience in the Catering Trade having owned a number of Class Businesses but it looks like Plantsplus want to destroy their reputation due to a lack of professionalism. The Special Board is again a Joke with what used to be a very good choice now narrowed down everyday to a Soup of suspect flavours, a Quiche, & some sort of obscure choice. Something has changed and what ever it is appears to be lowering the standards it used to be. At the moment customers are experiencing expensive charges for mediocre Transport Cafe Type Food. Not that long ago visit after 11.00am & if you could get your car parked you were challenged with a very long Restaurant Queue but not now. After our last experience I am afraid it will be a good while before we eat at Plantsplus again.

Not cheap but no garden centre / farm shop is. Nice gifts and spreads / jams / biscuits and cakes to buy. It was very very hot in the cafe no fans , quite a few flies and wasps but obviously not hot like that every time you go. Worth a visit

Have to upgrade my last review. Current staff are extremely obliging and friendly - what a difference it makes! The restaurant is spotlessly clean and they have a brilliant system in place to ensure each table is cleaned after use - also high chairs as long as you leave them at the table where they were used. Cheese scones seem better than they were. Not the best - but better! A lovely bright, airy environment with some very nice outdoor seating areas, enhanced by the lovely plants that are sold there.

I went to Plantsplus with Dad for our weekly lunch outing. I’d not been before and I was massively impressed. We had lunch in the clean, tidy and well organised restaurant. All of the staff were friendly, cheerful, welcoming and they actually looked like they wanted to serve the customers. Something that is getting harder to find I feel. They were quite busy, however we didn’t have to wait long for our food. Dad didn’t even get chance to moan about how long it was taking ;) The vegan burger I had was delicious, the triple cooked chips divine. Dad had scampi and must of been happy because his plate was empty and he didn’t complain at all, something else that is hard to find ;) The prices are very reasonable too, though not at the cost of quality. After, we bought some compost for seed sowing and 2 bags of multi purpose compost in a 3 for £15 deal. Brand names too, not some cheap rubbish. It was a real pleasure to see that the plants were all expertly cared for. Not a broken stem, diseased leaf or gasping-for-water stressed plant in sight (granted, I didn’t cover the whole of Plantsplus; it’s huge!). One of the things I do when I’m considering buying a plant is to check the bottom of the pot and 99 out of 100 have roots growing out, quite often matted together. Every pot I checked, I could see that the plant had room to grow a little more. I have visited many, many garden centres in England over the years and I can honestly say I haven’t seen better anywhere. Highly recommended by me and Dad too :) I won’t buy from anywhere else now. I didn’t even mention some of the other things that you can buy from Plantsplus like garden furniture, gifts, seeds, bulbs and I don’t know what else :) I need to go again

We love this garden centre and the one at Berwick. It has gone through a huge transformation recently and the cafe is a new addition. We have had a few nice snacks and drinks so decided to try the Sunday lunch on our last visit. We waited absolutely ages in the self service queue to place our order at the till. Roast pork was the only choice, we ordered and again waited quite a long time to be served. We thought the portion was quite small considering the price £12.95. The meat was nice and there was some crackling which I love and a small portion of apple sauce. The tiny Yorkshire pudding was soggy and the veg - broccoli, carrot and swede mash and more carrots were very overcooked and mushy. There was a school dinner scoop of mash and a small roast potato. It did taste nice but considering most local pubs only charge £10 this is very expensive for a cafe in a garden centre.

Seemed logical to me that as we have allergies to onion, that if we chose bacon and mushroom we would be OK as onion was not listed. Wrong. There were onions in the bacon and mushroom quiche. The fries that we selected were not what I expected and the overall presentation looked as though it had been put on the plate by someone in junior school. The best and biggest garden centre I have ever visited, where every plant, however small, is of top quality. So it was a disappointment to find the restaurant letting it down. It was not too busy, but even so, the staff were distracted, talking to each other - about the restaurant, albeit - but they should have been giving their full attention to the customers. My sister, brother-in-law and I chose the fish and chips - beer battered fish and chips that were described as "home-made". That is not how I make them - they were "wedges" and quite greasy and seemed to have been hanging around for a while, keeping hot. The batter was crisp until it got near the fish, when it was uncooked. We had the half portions, and there was very little fish beneath the half-cooked batter. Disappointing. I had a pot of tea to go with it and really, they need to think of getting a better quality tea - it was tasteless, pale and weak. We will go back to the garden centre where the plants are excellent, but will go on elsewhere for lunch - such a pity. My sister had a slice of chocolate cake or afters which she said was dry and with little taste.

Having enjoyed our last visit we were a little disappointed this time. We wanted a late lunch time snack and the soup of the day (tomato) seemed to fit the bill. My cheese scone was much smaller than the cheese scones on display on the counter. When i queried I was told that mini scones (one) were served with the soup. The menu does not mention this. At £4.15 and £4.95 we did not feel that it was good value. I could not see the extra 80p for the scone.

I recently visited Plantsplus Garden Centre restaurant, the staff were very approachable, kind and helpful. I am visiting Malaysia through World Challenge with the school to work on a community project, Plantsplus were extremely kind to donate me a free afternoon tea as a raffle prize as I need to raise £3000. To add to this, not only was this lovely, but the food was also excellent and very good value. I would definitely highly recommend anyone to visit :)

Tried the restaurant out at plants plus on Sunday, we had fish and chips, jacket potato and cheese and onion quiche. All meals were delicious and hot, served by a wonderfully friendly lady. Good atmosphere here and lovely restaurant with the large windows. We will definitely return.

We went here yesterday for coffee, the Restaurant was lovely, clean and comfortable with plenty of seating. My Husband and his Cousin said their coffees were really nice, however the same can’t be said for my hot chocolate, it was hot which was the only good thing about it, it was like drinking coloured hot water, no taste what so ever, maybe if I had had the one with the cream and marshmallows on top it might have been different but I don’t like it like that, I like a nice hot chocolate made with milk, so I was really disappointed. Never mind the Alpacas outside made up for my disappointment. On the whole though the Restaurant was beautiful, with friendly staff. Would I go back, maybe but definitely not for hot chocolate.

Recommended as a good, quiet spot, by the cousin I was having lunch with. We both had Mac and Cheese, which is served with salad, and was wholesome and a nice portion, enough for lunch.

our group of nine including two with mobility problems were made very welcome. Tables were put together for us. Our coffee scones were first class despite the fact that there were only five cheese ones. The fruit ones were equally as good.

I come here regularly with my family for breakfast. The staff in the restaurant are extremely friendly and very accommodating. The food is always lovely, and served very quickly too! We would not go anywhere else. The garden centre itself is brilliant, so much to choose from and great prices. The Christmas stock they have in at the minute is fab, and the Christmas trees are gorgeous! We come here every week and I would reccomend it to anybody.

Went for a look round the garden centre and a light lunch. It was a Sunday and surprisingly quiet in the early afternoon. Staff are friendly and the soup and cakes were very nice. Coffees were OK not great. A little more training required for the Baristas.

I came here with my family for a light lunch, we ordered 2 panini’s and a soup. It took a lifetime to come and when it did, the bread was burnt, the side salad was slimy from sitting in dressing for so long. The restaurant was clean and tidy but seems like there’s not enough staff. Whilst we were eating we were plagued with wasps inside the restaurant. They didn’t apologise for the long delay or offer us fresh hot drinks which had gone cold but did to another table nearby.

Restaurant very new and clean. Food on view well prepared. Just had scones as breakfast had just finished at 11:30 and bacon sandwiches went from standard to special with additional cost. Scones were however very good. Well recommended.

Visited restaurant a couple of weeks ago and breakfast was excellent. Today (17th aug) had exactly the same breakfast and meal was terrible. Latte was glup and bacon and mushroom sandwich was just about edible. Bacon was old, probably re-heated and very fatty. Didn't take long for this place to go downhill. SHAME

As always the food was amazing and the portions very generous. A lovely warm welcome and Sarah went above and beyond when one of our party decided after our meals were brought out that she would like some bread and butter with her meal. Sarah sorted it out without any fuss.

I’m so sad to see this lovely place closed. It had great staff and atmosphere and a fantastically good smoked haddock chowder. I wish its people all the best and I thank them for all the great visits we’ve had here. I really hope that there might be a replacement cafe of such quality. We’ll watch with interest.

I'm on record as having said on many occasions that if they awarded PhDs for scone-tasting, I should have a dozen. I've eaten scones in venues from the Orkney Islands to Australia and written about them in more publications than I could possibly remember. So, you can take my word for it that the freshly-baked, home-made scones (with butter and strawberry jam) at No.6 are quite possibly the best I've tasted in recent years. Cafe No 6 is a quaint place with a very atmospheric first-floor eating area, a delightful owner and staff who look like they are actually enjoying the job they do. My wife and I were just as impressed with the special 'doggy menu' on offer. We shall be back!
