The best restaurants serving British food in Hartlepool North East

We visited for dinner after work and were immediately welcomed and seated. The menu was explained well and we instantly felt our custom was valued. The food portions were huge (had to take a doggy bag home, as didn’t want to waste it). The menu had varied options, without being overwhelming. Food was delicious and the servings timed well. We will definitely be back. Thank you.

Popped in for a drink & made very welcome by customers & staff. Nice comfortable atmosphere.

The spotted cow has changed, looks tired glasses are dirty front of the building and inside needs a reflesh , advertises it has cask ales but it dosnt Such a shame love the village

I’m absolutely disgusted in the way this unprofessional and embarrassment of a cafe treats there staff and customer service, the prices are absolutely sickening I would never ever return here in my life the way the food tastes and drinks are absolutely vile how they are still in business I will never ever know! I’m absolutely disgusted by the way they treat staff and customers and will not even allow my dog to sip the chemically acid water that they provide for dogs it’s that bad!!! Do not reccomend to absolutely anyone!!!!

Enjoyed a good meal and a few Guinness during our latest visit to the Tall Ships. The 3 course meal deal is good value. We visited late afternoon, and there was plenty of space.

We attended the restaurant for a 21st birthday party. We had a table booked. On arrival we had to wait in the queue (which was fine) but our arrival seemed to cause confusion as the staff came 3 times asking for our name and party numbers. We were seated 10 mins late (again fine) but seated in a total separate room from the main restaurant with the atmosphere and warmth. We were put in a huge room with no atmosphere, it was cold and felt like a cheap all inclusive on holiday. It also contained a number of large families with kids, one of which was screaming for almost the whole meal (no exaggerating) not the restaurants fault but added to the disappointment. The staff were lovely and really friendly. We ordered our food for 13 people which came within 5 mins, therefore no way was it freshly cooked. I ordered burger and chips.. my chips were actually cold (not even luke warm), as were a few others…. One of the parmos was actually cold…. Another meal it took about 15 for the chips to come, so she almost finished her Parmo before these arrived… I sent my chips back and the next lot that came were dripping in fat and were definitely not fresh. My old chips appeared to have been stuck back in the fat to warm up. Overall really disappointed. Will not be returning for sure.

The salad was rank with a strange taste that gave me a stomach ache and nausea after a couple of mouthfuls so went in the bin. The breakfast rolls were nice though. Gave 1 star due to the salad.

This fish and chip shop has been the best place to go for food since I was a child, the standards over the years have only gone up. The portion sizes are very generous, the chips taste BEAUTIFUL, the batter is crispy, the fish is delicious, and their other menu items, chicken nuggets, burgers, sausage, etc are all 10/10 as well. I didn't actually think to put a review on here until I saw a huge 1 star review that I cannot stress enough, does NOT reflect the food at the Warren, I've been eating here literally since I was a child and have never been upset with the service in any way shape or form. Amazing Staff. Delicious Food. Brilliant Options.
