This fish and chip shop has been the best place to go for food since I was a child, the standards over the years have only gone up. The portion sizes are very generous, the chips taste BEAUTIFUL, the batter is crispy, the fish is delicious, and their other menu items, chicken nuggets, burgers, sausage, etc are all 10/10 as well. I didn't actually think to put a review on here until I saw a huge 1 star review that I cannot stress enough, does NOT reflect the food at the Warren, I've been eating here literally since I was a child and have never been upset with the service in any way shape or form. Amazing Staff. Delicious Food. Brilliant Options.

Had the expeience of either queing for an hour at the obviosly good fish and chop shops, Like Verrils......or going on a recomendation to this one.... I might be punching the person who recommended it shortly. The worst fish and chips in a long time. The cod wasn't close to being fresh... it obviously passed away at least last year. The batter thick and puddeny... how can you not master batter.....Its four ingredients. The chips were formed from bleached old potatoes each with an eye. You honestly felt you were being stared at. Oh and cash only....for your convenience, on National fish and chip day. Seriously if you cannot do good Fish and chips in the north east, stay away from it, stick to your kebabs and deep fried pizza. Dont offer sub standard mediocrity...its our regional dish!

We went here to have an evening meal with friends. We ordered two hot shot parmos, a half lobster and chicken in peppercorn sauce, it doesn’t come with veg so we ordered a side order of veg which was very small portion and cost £6.95 The half lobster was the size of a Langoustine. The Parmo’s were supposed to be the same but looked completely different, one was lacking in white sauce and hardly any heat to it. The puddings were 3 x sticky toffee puddings, which appeared to be Ginger sponge with a toffee sauce on top. Finely we ordered two cokes and a coffee. The cokes were obviously from a dispenser as the CO2 cylinder must have ran out, we complained that they had no fix in the drinks, so we ordered bottles instead. My coffee arrived with a small jug of milk, I put some milk in before my wife commented on the really dirty cup, they took it away and replaced it with another one, which was obviously the same coffee as it was already white and in a chipped cup. All that cost £133.00 The restaurant was very busy but I can’t imagine why! Won’t be back

Went because of a recommendation and wasn't disappointed. The pub is very clean and fresh was going to just have drinks but stayed for food. Ann-Marie, Gareth and Carl are very friendly and helpful.

I paid 9 pound for 2 pieces of cake. One was a cherry Bakewell and the other a cornflake cake. The cherry Bakewell was was awful. There was nothing cherry about it. It was extremely soggy, there was zero favour and it seemed that it had been sat in the dish for 2 days. I had a tiny bite and we both felt sickly after it. I wanted to return it but my wife is too polite. I can't comment on the cornflake cake as my son ate that and he will eat anything. His reply on how it tastes was "it's ok". I'm not sure where they get the cake from but maybe it's time to find a new supplier. I never go in there and I noticed it was so expensive I couldn't believe it. How they turn a profit is beyond me. The place is dreary and depressing, a minimum 5 pound spend if you want a drink. You can't even use the facilities unless you buy something as the door is coded. I've noticed other reviews that the food is dreadful but I can only comment on the cake. Anyway, don't buy the tiny slice of cherry Bakewell for £3.90, save your money go somewhere that's lovely cakes and have it with a lovely cuppa at home where you won't feel like you've been robbed.
