This is a lovely little Cafe with a great atmosphere/lighting. I also love all the items available to buy displayed inside. However, the two cappuccino we bought were just to say warm ;-( we didn't make a fuss as the staff were really busy serving an ever growing queue of customers! Disappointing...

We love our coffee, but this time we left it behind after just a few sips. Insipid, tasteless, no - my husband says it wasn’t tasteless, it was just really bad coffee. Time to change your bean supplier or get better training on making lattes. What a waste of £6.

I have been visiting Maria's place at least once in the week for approx the past year. I am in no way affiliated with The Place in the Park. I am a genuine person that believes credit where credit is due. I believe that the owner Maria has run the coffee shop for the past 15 years. I have frequented many a coffee shop o my travels and have to say Maria's if not the best certainly strives to get there. I speak to Maria on alot of occasions as a regular. I have to say she is one of the warmest, hardworking and honest individuals I have met. Never a problem, meals cooked and presented beautifully. Coffee is great. The music is from all era's , which goes down really well with the customers and myself and the lighting, well i will let you decide on that. Bit i think they've got it pretty good. The cleanliness of the place is outstanding. For a small person, Maria certainly has a big heart. The way she makes everybody comfortable and relaxed and she is top notch with the children. She's loved by all. So yes she definitely deserves this credit. I sadly am moving on and will miss my cuppas and the warmth given when visiting. During the year Maria supplied what I can only describe as a banquet for a function I was hosting. It went down great, so if your ever in need of any outside catering. Give Maria a ring. I will do my best if ever in the area to visit The Place in the Park, as this holds a special place in my heart. So keep up the good work Maria, her sibling Jakup and the girls LL. Will miss my weekly jaunt. So give it a try and maybe you will become the regular of The Place in the Park. One very happy satisfied customer.x

Went with 3 friends. My Latte was barely luke warm and had to be sent back, toast only done on one side and hardly any butter, same with toasted tea cakes. Cheese on toast hardly toasted at all. Tea came in small pot and asked if milk was wanted with tea but when poured it already had milk in the tea pot. Very disappointed.

I held my mum's wake in the function room at this lovely establishment and it was fantastic. Thank you to all the staff for making this important occasion so special. The way they'd set the room out was lovely and there were doors that opened out onto an exclusive grass area which was great as we were lucky enough to get a warm day. The food was divine. I went for the Saffron menu and the quality was excellent (particularly the corned beef pie) as it was all home made. They didn't scrimp on quantity either. There was way more than we could eat. They could have charged a lot more for what they provided so don't be put off by the low price tag. Just to keep this review balanced I'll nit pick and give you the negatives. Only 5 parking bays outside and these are disabled only. However plenty of free street parking a short 3 minute walk away. The soap dispenser in the function room toilet was empty so we had to ask for it to be filled (which they did immediately). Would have given 6 stars but only 5 available. Look no further if you are considering this place for a wake. Thank you to all the staff who work here. You're all lovely.

Almost every time we go to the park we pop in for a drink and bite to eat. My hubby loves the home made cakes and my daughter loves... well everything! Food can be a bit pricey but nothing over and above other parks I have been too. We have held a Birthday Party here in the past too and the room also comes with a garden at the side which is great on Sunny days as we had a disco indoor and bouncy castle and games in the garden when we did it. Place is always tidy and they have events on year round from Santas Grotto at Christmas to afternoon tea and events at Easter etc. The only downside I have with the place it the toilets. They never open the men’s or woman’s toilets anymore and the only one available is the disabled which everyone has to use... even on busy days. It is no fun having to queue witch children who are bursting and feeling rushed knowing there are people waiting outside too. Such a shame as it’s my only gripe with the place.

Very nice curried sweet potstie soup. That's the one positive! Very expensive, £2 for a bottle of Diet Coke. Banana milkshake was cheap flavoured milk poured in to a plastic milkshake container and charged at three times the price. Drain in outside seating area overflowing and flooding the area round the seats, firstly with water with bits of food in, then with water containing detergent. Not good for those sitting outside with their dogs. Very poor experience, won't be rushing back that's for sure.

Took my two great nephews for a breakfast treat , two sausage buns , two cups of tea and a fruit juice and beans on toast for little one ... £15.35 Firstly the sausage buns were decent size although buns not buttered and wasn’t asked if we wanted butter on , tasted nice enough but £3.50 well most cafes will give you breakfast for same amount so , tasty but expensive. Two teas presented Black in mugs not filled to top and you add your own milk and sugar £1.50 a cup , not hot enough for me but a decent cuppa , £1.50 though !!! You would still make a decent profit at £1 a cup . I asked for beans on toast for the 4 year old saying for the little one £3.95 and I would say more an adult portion , toast is very tasty had it before , so 2 slices of toast and a small cup of beans , a good profit would have been made from £2.50 Sadly this will be our last visit which is purely just down to value for money . Great atmosphere, lovely gifts to buy , plenty offered on the menus , extremely clean but profit margin is excessive.

I used to go here regularly when walking dog or just to pop in on my way home. It's a bit hit and miss on quality and service depending on which staff are working/serving.They sell everything from bacon buns, hotdogs, toasties and sandwiches to jacket potatoes and homemade corned beef pies as well as homemade cakes and ice creams. The food mainly is very tasty with decent sized portions, I've had toasties, jackets and corned beef pie and salad and scones, mostly with a latte. They're maybe a little overpriced compared to other places but still good value. It's nice to eat in but I normally went over the winter during the week when the kids were at school. There's a secondary school nearby so at finishing time there's long queues of teens buying sweets etc At weekends and holidays as it's in a park next to the kids playground the queues are massive, it's also full of kids with no manners and parents who don't care if they're running round someone else's table in circles screaming. That's not really the fault of the owners but I think if someone's child's being very disruptive and unnecessarily noisy then the staff could politely ask the parents to control them. Unfortunately it seems to be most children there and they're bringing in a lot of business. It's my personal preference to stay away at those times. Some of the staff are really friendly and others are the rudest people I've ever met in my life. I once ordered a caramel latte and knew the price, I'd watched her make it and didn't see any syrup put in and when I was charged just the latte price I asked if it had caramel in it. The woman bit my head off and practically shouted at me "no that's cos you didn't ask for caramel!!' I then said 'I did but you can't have heard me,' and she started snapping at me again 'no you didn't do you want it in it'll cost more!' I nearly left as I was fuming and never went back. Other problems I've had before that include the coffees consistently being lukewarm even when asking for them to be extra hot, if you ask for just hot you get sarcastic remarks such as we only sell hot coffee, when actually they're lukewarm and by the time you've got back to the car when getting takeouts they're hardly worth drinking. I've been told once we're only allowed to heat them to a certain temperature, I've worked in coffee shops and that's about 85 degrees, not barely warm.I called in once and asked if they could do cream scones to takeaway, I've had them in and they're delicious with fresh whipped cream. I was told yes, and received a warmed fruit scone cut in half with a knife, jam, butter and whipped cream all separate, I can't remember whether the cream was in a little pot but they were all in a takeaway box. I was very impressed and on another occasion called in specially to get another. I asked for it warm and after ages waiting had a paper bag shoved at me. It contained a sort of warm scone already made up with a scraping of jam and squirty cream not proper cream in the middle that collapsed and ran out into the corners of the bag and all over the napkin it was wrapped in. I was charged the same price as the proper cream scone. There was also no knife and the napkin was useless. It wasn't much better being washed down with my barely hot latte.

Took my 2 year old to the lovely ward jackson park, decided to have a cup of tea. The place looked closed but then someone came out of the door. The menu was a little confusing, it costs £1.30 for mug tea to sit in and £1.50 to take out, this was true for most of the menu, I thought it cost more to sit in as you paid VAT indoors? I did wonder if it was an error as was spelling mistakes on the menu (galsses for glasses etc). We had a tea (£1.30) a cookie (80p on jar) Just Juice carton (£1) and some duck food (£1 thought over the top other parks 50p and this was small bag but the ducks enjoyed it!). Was charged £5 so was over charged by 90p but didn't think about it till now! I thought a lot of it was overpriced without this. I feel I am being picky but for a fiver for a quick snack stop I should be able to be, my tea arrived black with the teabag removed so I could not decide how strong I had it. I did like being able to have fresh milk and was able to help myself. Based on this experience I don't think I would go back to eat as it was a bit pricey, but would go for a cuppa.

Must say one of the best pub meals we've ever had, my wife had the 4oz rump steak, chips salad and I had sausage chips, fried egg and peas, excellent chips were fantastic. Oh the beer was great as
