Had lunch from this long established take away on Duke Street, Hartlepool. The portion sizes were good, with thick fish, decent cheese patties and large fritters. A pleasant surprise was the size of the fish sandwiched between two large slices of potato. Another bonus was that the food was not greasy.

Flipping heck I know times are hard for us all but this is beyond a joke, ordered a large chips, well was amazed at the tiny portion we received, approx 12 chips. You can't shove your prices up and then cut the portion down too. This was second visit in 3 years, first time didn't learn my lesson but definitely won't be back again, mean with the portion and total rip off!!!

Overpriced on Good Friday and not very appetising.

The 2 cornbeef patties had soggy batter looked likey they had been warmed up. Ordered some large chips when opened had 8 chips yes 8 chips. Wont be going again!

Fish and chips were well cooked but disappointed with the portion size for the price. We've had bigger half lots in several places to be honest.

Staff just want you in and out there not unfriendly just in a rush with everything. The food was dripping in grease chips had black bits all over. I won't be going back not value for what you get it and how it is served.

Odd cod the half lot was more of a quarter lot £4.75 wow expensive for what you get.👎👎👎

We got 2 half lots the fish being no bigger than a goldfish and the chips just a bag of scraps. The fish tasted OK but only about 2 bites. Pleasant service but terrible value for money. Never again

Best chips n curry sauce I've ever had, but large chips are same size portion as normal bag but more money,

Ordered , was asked 3 times my order and still they got it wrong and had to be corrected. Wanted battered ocean sticks, they said sorry we are out, not interested in frying me some fresh. Prices are way higher than most Half lot is barely a goldfish. I'll go to lowthian road from now on.

Good portions of cod and chips, wrapped with salt and vinegar. Lovely flavour when you unwrap at home. Well cooked, nice batter, tasty flavour, good portion of chips.

Rude, got shouted at over the phone for taking more than 5 seconds to decide on something! Terrible portion size and really expensive, would rather eat out of a bin than go here again. Avoid like the plague.

2 small fish ,bag of chips 8 pounds and 10 p ,robbery!and were nothing flash.first and last visit back to our normal venue where prices and quantity are excellent.

Served by a ginger woman who never cracked a smile in the 10 mins I was in the shop. Very expensive prices but great fish fritter, chips are not so great.

Called in around 18.30 on the way home from a day out. No queing. Fish was in the hot server ready. Chips were ready too. We got the home still nice and hot. The fish batter however had a slightly burnt taste. Chips were all ok. Perhaps if we had gone earlier quality would have been better.

My wife and I have purchased fish and chips from this shop for over 50 years. They have always been the best we have ever tasted and in particular the fish. They do not cook in oil and this also makes a difference. We do not live in Hartlepool now but when we visit relatives we buy f and c and sit in the car round the corner from the shop and eat them

Vinegar tasted vinegary. Salt was salty.

Over priced and not very nice. They charge almost £2 for a bag of chips which would be classed as a small bag, the staff don't listen when you order food as they managed to get my simple order wrong. And to be frank the chips weren't even that nice.

They were a hundred percent friendly and were dressed appropriately and served us quite quickly and didn't have to wait long food was delicious

My go to chippy. No pizza. No kebabs. None of that paramo crap. Bang on traditional chippy that does fish and chips. Usual prices. Always a bit of a queue - that's a good thing, right?

i have never tasted chips and curry so rank in my life, what a disaster gordon ramsay would have a field day in here, its a total waste of money chips are half cooked and curry has never seen a recipe book, never again in fact i would give it a half rating if possible binned the lot after tasting them.............

We called into get Fish & Chips after a walk around the Headland. Normally these are really nice Fish & Chips but tonight the were not edible and I put them in the bin. I think whatever they use to cook the Fish and Chips in was past its best I don't think I could face going back again.

No need for a lengthy review. It's quite simply the best chippy in the town. Great staff (one needs to smile a little more). Top food, always well cooked and tasty. Don't bother with the rest !

Can't fault this place. Hands down the best Traditional fish and chip shop around. Tried all locally and this place is outstanding. The quality is unrivalled and the staff are very friendly and welcoming.

I have been getting fish and chips from here for so many years and have never once been disappointed. The fish is crispy and tasty and the chips are delicious. Not one bad meal in fifteen years must make for a good place.

We called on a cold February night with friends and found a warm welcome awaiting us for a very enjoyable meal of some of the nicest cod & chips we've ever had,complimented by bread and butter and a pot of tea.We don't know how they do it for the price,£4.95 each for an excellent portion of food.My only complaint would be why they put all the bread and butter on one plate in full slices and you have to cut it in half yourself.A little niggle but all in all a great dining experience.

the fish is always freshly cooked but chips sometimes seem to be too small and scrappy.they do taste very nice which i suppose is the maineason for using the odd cod.i will use it again though but i do wish they would do bigger chips.
