1st time in years we have been for food at the lodge, couldn't fault the food it was lovely all 4 dinners got different meals all were piping hot. Customer service definitely a 10 the guy who brought food out couldnt do enough. He was extremely polite despite being extremely busy and rushed off his feet. We will definitely be back 10/10 all round 😊

Myself and John always receive a warm welcome whoever is serving either drinks or food. Staff were especially helpful and respectful when we booked the conservatory for an after funeral get together and recently an anniversay celebration no booking but managed to fit us in (30 people). Thanks again to all staff thumbs up for Emma for remembering our name when a space became available for Christmas Day Lunch ....see you all soon.

Owton Lodge is a proper community pub where you’re always made to feel welcome. Josh is brilliant — he never fails to ask how your day’s been, and it’s those little touches that make a big difference. The team is just as spot on. Britney’s energy is unmatched, and she somehow knows what you’re drinking before you do. Lucy is absolutely top-tier for good crack and always up for a laugh. Alisha’s attention to detail means everything’s just right, Sadie’s upbeat vibe lifts the whole place, and Matthew’s calm, steady presence keeps it all ticking over. The food is class, and the drink selection is even better. The Madri pints are spot on every time, and the Long Island Iced Teas are unreal. Whether you’re there for a meal, a few drinks, or a night out with mates, Owton Lodge never misses. Highly recommend!

Recently terrible experience, rather will never be back

The Team Manager JOSH was exceptionally great from the moment we walked through the door. He greeted us with a warm smile and general chat, even though he was by himself for a moment. Josh was so happy to please in terms of looking after each and every customer, much in the same manner as our welcoming. Josh showed that he was true to his job and executed everything superbly! He even arranged for our pre-booked Christmas Dinner to arrive nearly 30 minutes early. The food was fantastic quality and the waits between each of the 3 courses was a mere 5 minutes or so. Josh did ask how our food was throughout the meal, too, even though he had a large party arrive elsewhere in the pub, to host. Josh proudly represents Owton Lodge in the best possible way and I feel he deserves a pay rise or gift at least and some formal recognition, please.

Will not be returning any time soon! Food was absolutely disgusting my two year olds food was burnt to a crisp and my partners mixed grill was nothing but fat and salt on a skillet. The prices are ridiculous considering what you get and quality of food is awful. Staff were friendly and atmosphere was quiet at this time but food was dispicable.

Not from Hartlepool, called in to watch a match before visiting my son, who lives nearby, was welcomed warmly, and service was spot on Same friendly welcome, but disappointed with size of chicken portions, which my daughter in law did mention , rest of food was really nice

Nice pub decor with friendly staff. Zuxa was friendly from the start, taking our4 drinks order, then our food, then serving us our meal and checking everything was OK. She was constantly on the go clearing tables, serving drink and food whilst chatting to customers. Our drink and food was spot on with only the greek wrap not being very warm

I took my disabled brother Tom on Sunday, the 22nd of September. We had a light meal with drinks which we enjoyed. I can't fault the staff, especially Joshua. He was very polite and helped me a lot with my brother. Lovely pleasant afternoon.

When we first walked in it was quite a surprise that there was a bingo session running…in a pub…at tea time 🤔, anyway we were shown to a table and looked at the menu, bingo still getting called. Placed our order via the app, bingo still going on. Food and drinks came…bingo still on, trying to have a conversation while not disturbing the bingo…off putting to say the least. Over an hour after we got in, bingo still getting called 😡. The food to be fair was ok, not the best but was hot and decent portions. To be honest if I wanted to go somewhere to listen to a never ending game of bingo we would have gone to our local club on Saturday night. This used to be our local many years ago and we both thought let’s give it a try for old times sake, sad to say, that has every possibility of being our last. So, if you like a game of bingo with your tea or a conversation by whispering, this is the place for you, enjoy!

Wanted to take my dogs to a pub with me so they can also enjoy the warm weather and decided on going to the owton lodge and I’m glad I made that decision!! All the staff were so welcoming and food cooked to perfection. Special mention to Josh and Emma who checked back on regular intervals to ensure that my dogs had water to drink and were offering to top up their water bowl to keep them cool in this weather. It really is a family pub.. a pub for everyone including dogs. Thank you everyone

Credit were credits due, havent been here for so long nipped in today had a couple drinks and food and was not disappointed, the staff were unreal so helpful and couldn't do enough for us thanks so much we will be back 👌🏼

Food was terrible my husband had a steak it was burnt couldn't be any smaller. They got it mixed up with my daughters surf and tuff. Tomatoes were burnt peas were dried up. Then it took ages for plates to be removed of tables. Onion rings still left on table when we left.

Just wanted to say how lovely Josh is. Lovely manners & great customer service. Would actually come back for him. And he smells fab!

Excellent for kids, great outdoor space for enjoying the sun. Mixed Grill was spot on, food is always great. Really good atmosphere and would definitely recommend.

The staff were all exceptionally welcoming and couldn’t be more helpful. It was nice to be asked how my day was by Josh at the bar and have a nice conversation while being served. Emma and Emily looked after us at our table and when I wanted to add salad to my boss burger when it wasn’t an option. That’s for sorting that Chef Jack as well! Normally there for the pub quiz and Andy always makes it fun! Just a really nice way to spend a Thursday night :)

Been in tonight for a drink whilst my partner was having another superb sizzling meal with three friends from work.... But unfortunately I experienced the situation of being ignored at the bar whilst other customers were served in front of me... Not happy with the customer service.. It was noticed by someone that I had been ignored and a member of the bar staff came over and apologised after I left the bar having been unable to be served..

Service was great staff friendly and helpful food was amazing thank you for making our day 7 of us ate and no complaints even with the fussy eaters

Came with my sisters on Sunday night. Food was hot and tasty and delivered by a lovely member member of staff, shame we couldn't get dessert as it was after 9 o'clock. Lovely man hosting the quiz and we came 2nd.

Marty the assistant manager was really helpful and all the staff were friendly and efficient and made our group of veterans feel welcome. Although it was busy we felt looked after and the food was very good, served hot and plentiful.

Three of us arranged to meet there on Friday lunchtime. It's in need of an external face-lift but once inside we were pleasantly surprised. From meet the lady on the bar, to finding a nice table in the dining, we couldn't have wanted for more. From ordering our food to having the food on the table, took less than 20 minutes. The food was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. We will definitely visit again, possibly with a bigger group! Seriously worth visiting.

It was a busy bar but Charlotte and the team were dealing with it so efficiently and with fantastic service. Charlotte served us. Greeted us with a smile and poured the perfect pint of Guinness. Another guy collecting glasses came over whilst we were outside and offered a water bowl for their dog. Top notch service guys. Thank you

Slow service - food came to the table in phases after being walked around the room and left at random tables - then promised fresh food would be bought out asap- was just the same food reheated - fry and tasteless. Staff just don’t care. Will never be back. Rated 3 stars for Atmosphere - but it’s the Customers that made the atmosphere - not the staff.

12 of us turned up out of the blue for a meal, we thought we might struggle, but tables were swiftly put together for us by the friendly staff. From entering to leaving we found all of the staff extremely friendly and professional, especially Josh, who went above and beyond to make our afternoon that bit better. One of our party had a birthday and Josh helped us with the celebrations. Food was very good, hot and all brought out together. Overall we had a fabulous afternoon, helped by wonderful staff. Thank you.

We came to the Owton for a few drinks and some food with friends after work the other day. Geordie lads working were a good laugh.

We came in for some lunch, the staff were so friendly and helpful and food was served very quickly! We ordered the lay it on chick burger and the tandoori skewers and they tasted great! They were setting up for bingo and it looked like they had a good crowd coming in to enjoy it

Called in for lunch for the very first time, and I am glad we did. The staff were lovely! Friendly and attentive. The food was excellent! I had the chicken tikka curry without the rice because it’s too much for me. 2 lovely crispy poppadoms, and two little onion bahjis. Hubby had gammon and chips which was super. The wine is a decent price which is great. Can’t wait to go back. Defo recommended

This is less of a review for right now but just a consistent one. We have been coming to the Owton Lodge now either as a family, with friends, and even with our work colleagues for the past few years. Though I must say, it’s (somehow!) only continues to get better, with particular improvements in the last year. We come a whole range of times (lunch, drinks, dinner and even Christmas!) A quick comment about our Christmas experience… WOW! Even months before, Matty was so on the ball with answering all of my questions about the booking. As well as the 6 of us dining in for Christmas day, we hoped that we could have the three course to take away too for my disabled family member. Not only did they ensure the food was of a high standard, he still rated it a 10 from the comfort of his chair! The food was amazing that day, as was the service. My mum often chooses the OL for her work related outings too, and notes a particular thanks to Emma who served her and her staff for their Christmas do! Even when there was a mix-up with the food (on their drunken parts… oops!), Emma was very patient and is always so welcoming. Every other time we visit, it’s usually myself and my mum and always happen to be there when Matty and Emma are there. Hospitality aren’t given enough credit at the best of times but these two are phenomenal. They never fail to make us laugh and ensure we have a great experience whatever the occasion! Thank you to the Owton Lodge for everything but Matty and Emma… you’re BRILLIANT!!!!

Went for a meal for my daughter birthday and the staff was amazing did everything they could to help they was a lot of us but they made sure all the food came together.

Really enjoyed my meal,as did the rest of my party judging by the empty plates.

Just had an amazing Christmas Day at Owton lodge. The staff were amazing, the service was exceptional and the food was wonderful. Would recommend to anybody. P.S The place was packed, so that told me we were in for a treat, and a real treat it was.

Brought our niece and nephew to Breakfast with Santa, 2nd year in a row and again very enjoyable, kids loved it, enjoyed the breakfast and obviously loved Santa, has to be the best Santa we have seen. All staff extremely helpful even when it was so busy with all the kids. Highly recommend

I come here often with my little 1 year old. I just wanted to leave a really positive review, every single time we come here, the staff are always lovely and so attentive. There are only a few other places I've ever been to with staff that are this lovely and friendly. It's always a pleasure to come out here for food or a drink. The food is always lovely too, I've had a wide selection of the menu and it's all delish! Also the kids menu is the best I've seen, it has an under 5s menu which I've never encountered anywhere else. Very spacious inside so always somewhere to sit when we come. Lovely outdoor area. And lots of great community events. Lovely establishment and lovely staff to go with it 😊 thank you!

Went in the afternoon, so reasonably quiet. Staff were friendly and attentive. Menu wasnt bad, but I would have liked to see a sandwich on there. Ordered fish and chips and sausage and mash of the specials menu. Food nice, mum loved the chips! Tea was a little cold, but when mentioned, Barman brought more hot water. Would go again for pub grub kind of food.

Had a mixed grill which was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing ( medium to well steak). Compliments to the chef. Waitress service was very good (Emma) on a very hot sizzling skillet. Faultless visit and look forward to my next visit. Not forgetting the cheaply priced drinks we had on a Monday evening. *****
