Nice pub only issue is the locals. I met up with a group of friends here to celebrate a birthday. Loved the decor but the locals were quite rude. They clearly don't appreciate non locals in thier pub and had the audacity to call my group of friends names as we left. Sadly the bar staff did not say anything which I do understand but personally wouldn't recommend this unless you want american werewolf in London pub on the moors experience.

We had booked for Sunday Lunch. We have been looking for a friendly, country pub for Sunday lunch since moving to the North East June 2022. We have been to the pub chains but you do not get that friendly comfortable atmosphere. We were very happily surprised when we visited the McOrville Inn for the first time. The staff were all very welcoming as was the locals, they did not ignore us but the quite the opposite, joined my husband in the conversation. I don't like to go out much, but I was at ease and was able to stay calm throughout our visit. Again the feeling of the Inn made this possible We had Sunday Lunch, 2 meats, Pork and Gammon. the meat was amazing and proper gravy, not gulp that you get at some chain eating places. the roast potatoes were crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the middle; the flavour of the roast was of the meat, not just a potato. The Yorkshire puddings were amazing just like my mum used to make!!!! The veg was separate in serving dishes, just how I like it as if there is too much on my plate it just turns me off. I was able to add the veg at my speed and when I was ready for it. It was hot and delicious. We asked for a dogie bag (Yorkshire Lass), when we had finished as there was so much left on my plate. My husband on the other hand managed to eat his lunch, he did not have room for pudding. We got talking to the staff and Claire is a Yorkshire Lass just like me. It was lovely to be treated so well. The chief came out to ask if we had enjoyed our meal and we were very quick to answer Beautiful !!!! We will definitely be going again for Sunday lunch and we are going to try the other offers on the weekly menu, even just for a drink in the atmosphere that I felt so comfortable in. Thank you to the Staff and the Locals alike. Denise and Nigel Corbey

Myself and partner opted for the beef Sunday lunch and was not disappointed at all. The beef was two thick slices with two yorkies, sublime roast potatoes, mashed potatoes and a side dish of veg. We had a full, delicious gravy boat to share which was more than enough. Our three year old opted for fish fingers and chips which again was a good portion with amazing chips. The service was excellent, really friendly, helpful and not intrusive at all. Will definitely be back, thank you.

We had Sunday Lunch in The Mcorville Inn today , which was our first visit ever and we were not disappointed for the following reasons. 1. The meals were cooked to perfection , very tasty and worth every penny. I had beef and my Husband had Turkey. 2. The prices were reasonable. 3. The atmosphere was very welcoming, with 2 open fires and felt nice and cosy. 4. Last but not least , all the staff were amazing, friendly and accommodating. We visited this inn late afternoon on a Sunday ie about 3.15pm and received a warm welcome. The menue was limited, three roasts. I chose Beef whilst the other two chose Turkey. When the meals arrived each had a very good helping of meat with Yorkshire pudding roast mashed potatoes and of course gravy. A dish of mixed vegetables, cauliflower, carrots, peas in pods etc was also brought to the table along with a sauce boat of additional graveyard. The quality of the meal was very good. Although the place was not very busy the two chaps behind the bar were very attentive and pleasant. We were offered a sweet menue but were unable to accept due to the large main course. This was our first visit here but we will be back sometime in the future.

Eaten here a few times now, and I've been really impressed by the quality and value for money. The starters are excellent and make ideal snacks instead of a full meal, but the main courses are brilliant if you're hungry. Large portions of freshly cooked food with 'homemade' chips with enough on the menu for everyone. I've not had he Sunday dinner yet but it's got a superb reputation locally so it won't be long. Good choice of beers at the bar, Sky TV and a lovely open fire for colder days.

I can't speak highly enough of the Mcorville following our visit here for sunday lunch recently. The lunch offer was spot on, the staff were really good and they served a decent pint. The sunday roasts were absolutely faultless - the meat was quality, cooked fresh, served with loads of accompanying veggies and a really nice smile too. The children were happy - they hoovered what was put in front of them and also enjoyed the deserts too. To top it off, when it came, the bill was appropriate.

Disappointing food. After reading previous reviews, we were shocked as to how the food actually was, the steaks were shocking. We were given the option of well done only as they were one minute steaks. What a ridiculous statement to make to your customers. The fries must have been cooked in salt, they inedible. The salad was limp. They didn't have any tomato ketchup either. We soon realised why the place was empty and pub next was packed out, we will try there next time. What a shame.

Sunday Lunch was recommended by a friend. Arrived at 12.30 without a reservation and quickly shown to a table which could be ours until 3.00pm so no problem. Lovely village pub with lovely atmosphere. Chose two courses for £12.95 namely Roast Parsnip Soup accompanied by sourdough bread. The soup and homemade bread were very tasty. For mains we both chose the roast beef. This was accompanied by Yorkshire Pudding, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, carrot, parsnip, red cabbage, broccoli and an extra gravy boat. The three ample slices of beef were very pink and although to our liking we noticed two other diners commented to the staff that they would have preferred it not so pink so worth remembering. The staff were very pleasant and there was a good selection of drinks available. A very pleasant dining experience which I would not hesitate to recommend for a value for money pub meal.

This pub has just been taken over, it is our local pub. The new landlord has lots of great ideas and looking forward to seeing what happens. However he has come in and whacked the prices of drinks up which after asking locals has stopped locals going in! Very disappointing as this is his bread and butter and would make more of us go in more often if they were lowered. Also the bands should be on a weekend night so more people can come as most work the next day or have children.Negative aside I really hope he does well and looks after the villagers and takes into consideration what they are looking for in a local as not much passing trade through elwick.

Now, before I start, we didn't actually eat here BECAUSE....My dad was booking a family meal with our extended family- 7 of us altogether. He's a bit of a cheap skate and had bought one of those voucher books so had some 2for1 vouchers for the mcorville. I'd never heard of it but he told me it was a nice little pub- so I was expecting a homely place with home cooked food and a nice bottle of prosecco. My mum called to book a table in the afternoon but they were shut so she left a message saying that 7 of us would be coming for food at 6.30. No call back.As soon as we arrived I was annoyed- I'd got dressed up and when we walked in the place was empty apart from 5 men sat round the bar (all staring at us) in dirty clothes and tracksuit bottoms.I ordered a drink from a bottle as I suspected that the glasses might be dirty (they were- you couldn't even see through the one they gave me with my bottle). My mum got a glass of white wine that was warm. My gran couldn't even lift her blackcurrant and soda off the table as it was so sticky. I'd already told my mum there was no way I was eating here when the bar lady came over and asked how many of us there were and said that they wouldn't be able to cook anything for us.Went to Maximos instead and had a lovely meal.

We visited on a Tuesday night and had the perfect parmos. It’s always a good sign when all the tables are full and it didn’t disappoint. Despite being busy the service was cheerful and helpful and the food was even better. All of us agreed that it was the best Parmo we have ever had with loads of choice. The main menu looked inviting as did some of the other plates we saw being served so a return visit to try some of the other dishes is planned soon.
