The best restaurants serving British food in Bridges Gateshead North East

We were put off taster menus a few years ago after a white gloved experience surrounded by couples. Food was lovely but just no atmosphere and no views. Our recent visit to Six for the land and sea taste of Six was totally different. We loved the food that really tested the taste buds ; incredible views and lovely vibrant atmosphere. (Plus sensible price for 6 course) Service was friendly and attentive. We loved all the courses but the cherry with chicken liver parfait was unbelievable, We had the drinks pairing which I really enjoyed especially the red and the whisky from Wooler ! My only change would be that the port should accompany the cheese and the sweet wine with the desert. A great experience- we will return

Was at Gateshead College for a meeting & popped into Greenhouse for lunch. Got a fabulous spiced lentil takeaway soup, complete with warm crusty roll, butter, knife and spoon all for £2.50. The soup portion size was excellent value. It was piping hot and super tasty & the warm roll was a fabulous touch, well done. More than I expected for a takeaway soup option. Highly recommend it. 🙂

Been quite a few times now and tried different items for lunch from the menu, the jacket potatoes are gorgeous, service is always great,lovely lunch every time I'm visiting Gateshead. Great place to go !

Chips and fish over cooked disgusting

Just had real ale, noticed they were serving meals, friendly staff, good atmosphere,as I was leaving noticed another room looked like the original bar, would recommend

I have visited the Brasserie many times over the past 20 years and generally had a good meal that I thought was value for money, until yesterday. Having arrived promptly, shown to table quickly, all seemed fine. Then very long wait for drink & food order to be taken, similarly people at near us. Finally ordered food plus a bottle of wine, again a huge wait for drinks. Starters were OK but I could not see why the huge delay for dishes that could be prepared easily. Finally got main course an hour after arriving, one plate was very cool and mine did not have what was stated on menu. At 6.40 I had to ask for our desserts, the worst part . Creme brulee was essentially cold custard and tarte tatin was almost 3 inches of slabs of apple and thick pastry. Very disappointing and not value for money.

Rather disappointing experience the receptionist was as welcome as the wife when I've been out with the boys all day got to the room no shaver point in the bathroom and no toilet brush how do you avoid the skidmarks when you been on the bevy in Newcastle

While my daughter shopped I popped in here for an oat milk latte and was served by a woman who to be honest looked like she didn’t want to be there. I paid for my drink and waited patiently, the lady who was making the drink said it was ready. I politely asked if it was the oat milk latte and the woman who had taken my order barked at me that’s not what you ordered. I explained I ordered an oat latte and she snapped at me, that’s not what you asked for with a very stern look. I explained I don’t drink milk and I wouldn’t have asked for anything other than what I ordered. The lady then demanded another 60p from me which I proceeded to pay. I could see the woman who was making the drink was rather embarrassed and said it was ok to me. I won’t be returning here to be spoken too like that and she needs to learn some manner and put a smile on her face. Extremely disappointed .

We had a most enjoyable dining experience at Bewick's Restaurant on Saturday, 3rd October 2020. The food and service was excellent and every effort was made to keep customers safe without spoiling the atmosphere of this lovely location. We would recommend Bewick's Restaurant to our family and friends and will definitely go again next time we are up in Northumberland. Lesley & Ricardo Montisci

Another enjoyable visit to The Baltic today. We also had some lovely food in the cafe - much improved since our last visit. Trout bagel, tuna toasties, blondie and coffees were all lovely and fresh at very reasonable price. Great helpful and friendly staff and service in comfortable airy space. We look fwd to returning soon x

Caminando a través de una agradable recepción al restaurante mis expectativas eran prometedoras, mirando el llamado menú que trajeron estrellándose de nuevo. Nada espectacular, nada especial, de hecho la elección fue menos que decepcionante. Con la elección limitada me fui por la hamburguesa aplastante, ¿qué podría salir mal? Las 19 libras. 50 hamburguesa (foto incluida) era sosa, el único sabor parecía ser del pepino encurtido, las patatas fritas podrían haber venido de cualquier congelador de supermercado, no había ensalada y mediocre es una descripción más que generosa. La mayoría de los gastropubios lo hacen mejor, pero ESTO ES UN HILTON!

Great selection of beers etc .. Typical spoons frozen food Cheap and affordable 👌

Hadn't been for ages so thought we give it a go . Staff friendly but food was look warm.ribs were fatty and burnt burgers bland no taste only thing I enjoyed was the jacket potato ..don't think we will be returning.
