Great service. Our waitress was very polite and helpful. Coffee was nice, food was ok. I ordered a full English and it was served cold. Cold scrambled eggs, beans, etc. plates were cold too. It’s a small thing but could have changed that breakfast around just to warm the plates before serving up.

Came here with friends and got the full English breakfast and the Hello Sunshine smoothie! Enjoyed the good quality taste of it all and the service was cheerful and fast paced :) The atmosphere was relaxed but fun, we were seated quickly despite no reservation on a busy weekend! Total for me was £21.50 for everything including service charge and I was very satisfied by the visit :)

I can count on one hand the number of times I have walked out of a restaurant, and this sadly was one of them. I have eaten here on a number of occasions over the years, and had a good experience, but was firstly put off by the 1 1/2 hour slot allocated for a booking. We hadn't even had our main course well over 1 hour and 40 minutes later. My wife and I arrived before our slot of 7.30 pm to be waved in the direction of our table by the waiter. We might have known it was auspicious as the no. of the table was 13 situated bang next to the kitchen and a service cupboard. One of the owners came with menus and offered water which never turned up until I requested it over 20 minutes later when our order was eventually taken, but the specials were not shown to us. The guest on the next table offered his jug of water which was nice before. It was well over 30 minutes when the starters arrived just after our drinks. Whilst waiting, I noticed there was something in the glass of water that had been brought - not a jug, a glass. My wife also noticed the glass was marked or a little dirty. I asked the same waiter, to fetch me another glass and pointed out the issue. His manner was sullen as before. By this point, I had got fed up of the wait noting that our 1 1/2 hour slot was fantasy. We had decided to eat and leave and stop the service charge, but the waiter's attitude tipped me over to agreeing with my wife to leave. It was gone 9 pm by this stage and despite a couple of check-ins from one of the owners, we got up to go saying we had waited too long and complained about the waiter and moreso the delay The owner replied that they were terribly sorry, the waiter was not supposed to be on duty and his English wasn't very good. I replied that that was no excuse for bad manners. The other owner came over to say that our food was now ready, but I said that our evening had been spoilt and we didn't want to eat. He said that they had a lot of guests at once and were short in the kitchen. All of this is flannel: they have a booking system and time slots (1 1/2 hours hardly makes for conviviality. The atmosphere was zero tucked away on the worst table in the place. I had also had a word before that on the QT with another couple who confirmed they had also had to wait ages for their meal. I can put up with delays if we are kept informed, but not bad manners nor inefficient management. A really poor show all round. There's a difference between busy and chaos.

I chose this place because it is located in the beautiful Rosewood Hotel and I thought it would be amazing. Dont get me wrong, its good but nothing that knocked me out as I was expecting. Nice setting and good service. Great selection of teas and limited quantity of sandwiches but they offer to refill if needed. They had a nice touch because they brought me a special little B’day cake (my birthday was 2 days before and they ask for your date of birth when booking, I didnt specify it). Maybe I will try to hace some traditional ones like Lemon Drizzle, Battenburg Cake, Victoria Sponge, Bakewell tart or my favourite Golden Syrup Pudding. A mixture of traditional and new would be more balanced. The best for me were the scones and jam…really well made, delicious jam, clotted cream and lemon curd. A bit small but one of the best I have tried so far. The hotel is so beautiful that it is 100% worth going and I loved my experience but I wouldnt go back again because of how much chocolate they use.

What a lovely place for breakfast! The staff were really friendly and the coffee and bacon sandwich was yummy. There's quite a lot of choice in Orpington for breakfast, but I will definitely be going back to The Bakehouse. Great atmosphere and really clean. The coffee was served hot and was very tasty. The prices are really good too!

It's a lovely family owned place freshly cooking classics breakfasts, coffee and dinner. Potatoes for chips are chopped in your sight. I preferred cod and chips for breakfast and prawns and chips other day. They also come with peas and a drink. It's much better then some fastfood options at practically same price. I would recommend this place if you are on lower March

Disappointed by the welcome and service overall. Please go somewhere else if you want a classy experience. Very very disappointed! We had reservation for afternoon tea, weeks before, confirmed twice before the arrival day. We arrive 10 min before our slot. I would like to mention that we choose the place based on recommendations that it has “impeccable” service. Well, Let me tell you. At the entrance the person who was at the reception, responsible to greet and welcome the guests, he pretends he doesn’t notice us at all. He sees us then he quickly turns away, pretending he is busy. I thought, ok, someone else is going to assist us. I felt awkward because I knew I shouldn’t be in the line for takeaway but because nobody approached us, I choose to stay on the takeaway side, looking very confused, for sure. The person at the welcome desk decides to say hi at this point and asks us if we want take away. I said no, we have reservation for afternoon tea. At this point I could see he collected himself a bit and started to act like he cares suddenly. Well… he showed us to the afternoon tea welcome desk, asked for my name- totally unnecessary at this point. Ok fine. Awkward, very superficial treatment, felt uncomfortable. At our table the waitress was sweet but then another 2 waiters started serving us, telling us different stories about what is going to be served, palate cleansers etc that just DID NOT arrive to our table, again adding to the confusion and awkwardness. The person who served us the sweets literally told us that after we finished with the savory dishes, palate cleanser follows. Nothing like that, we were waiting awkwardly in between savory and sweet dishes. Next, 2 people arrived to the table next to us as guests… the same person who refused to notice us, makes a big welcome back scene with these guests, so loud that the whole salon could hear it. Ok. From then on, these guests were talking so loud, we had the feeling that we are sitting at the same table. We left quickly, very disappointed. We expected a classy classic experience. What we got was a cheap, ordinary service that left us feeling bitter to be honest. We travelled the world, been to the best restaurants but here we wasted both our time money and nerves. Raise your standards.
