The best restaurants serving British food in London

We arrived early and had a friendly welcome. Having sat down it was clearly apparent there was a change of staff, roughly 3pm. Our first server I’m guessing was checking off, no interest at all, next server was fair but never saw again, all in all 6 different servers, not one the same on any time coming to the table so no continuity, very little interest except for the lady towards the end. We had pork belly ribs to start, amazing, nice salad with it. The. Between three we had a 1kg porterhouse plus two fries mushrooms mac and cheese and drinks. The steak was excellent but I felt the portions were all very small for the cost of the food. Not good value for money. But this is London. After one dessert it came to just shy of £250. I was really looking forward to this meal but felt very let down. A shame and will be hard pushed to return. I feel there are better restaurants serving quality food for more value. Sorry

Het restaurant had niet echt een gezellige uitstraling. Toch naar binnen gegaan omdat ze goed stonden aangeschreven. Het eten stond binnen 5 minuten na de bestelling op tafel (nog sneller dan de bestelde drankjes). Het geheel was goed gebakken, maar er zat weinig tot geen smaak aan de vis. Ook het dessert voldeed niet aan ons verwachtingspatroon en was klef met weinig smaak. De opmaak van de gerechten was echt beneden alle peil. Voor ons zeker geen tweede bezoek aan Poppy’s.

Lovely basque cheesecake, coffee was okay but not perfect

We recently stayed at the Rubens at the Palace Hotel and it was such a pleasure. From the cleaning staff, front desk, concierge, doorman, and all of the personnel in the restaurants and bars, every single person was very polite very helpful and very accommodating throughout the 10 days that we stayed there. Each evening after we returned from our daily activities, we were greeted like family. Soroosh was waiting in the restaurant eager to get us beverages and any late snacks we might want, even near closing time. I would highly recommend staying here not only because of the great location but mostly because of the great people you will meet there.

The staff were really friendly the steak was beautiful couldn’t fault it and would recommend. They even helped with dietary needs

Restaurant is very nice and Emy our server was excellent. However we ordered the kids Mac and cheese and the portion size was tiny. Arrived on a saucer!! Not enough for a hungry 9 year old. Also service was very quick food arrived a good 10 mins before our drinks. Daughter loved the brownie

1st time in London, very pleasant and cozy pub setting. Bart was extremely helpful and gave us some pointers on how best to enjoy the steak pie and mash (everything goes in and don’t be shy with the gravy!). They were also kind enough to charge my phone, which was greatly appreciated. Regards, John

Excellent food, wonderful service from Antonio. We popped in without a reservation and were made to feel very welcome.

Ordered a bacon and sausage sandwich. The food came really fast, and ok service. The sandwich bread were falling apart. I liked that there was a lot of meat on the sandwich, however not much else was added. Overall a bit dissapointed given all the other great reviewes.
