The 3 course menu at £65 seemed excellent value. Snacks, bread etc and a starter of scorched mackerel were I thought up to star standard. Vegetarian options, starter of Ashcroft tomatoes, and a main of a seasonal corn ‘risotto’, were also very well received. There was a £5 supplement for a small piece of brill served with a stuffed courgette flower as the other main course. I didn’t recognise the crab which was listed as one of the ingredients and the tartare roe sauce was dominant. The plate of food was small and I was still hungry after this course. I chose cheese as a dessert and this was served with crackers and some attractive dried fruit bread (still a little soft in the middle). A good selection of cheese was provided. It did carry the obligatory supplement (£8). Taking into account the overall quality of the cooking, the ingredients, the low key but agreable surroundings and the friendly and efficient service the meal was still pretty good value though the main course could have been a little larger. On a return visit I would go for the tasting menu at £100.

I often visit a local friend, over several years, whose place is not really organised enough for her to cook, or me to cook my own breakfast, so I/we call in here, consistently good for breakfasts, though not quite so consistently good for lunch.

Quality Fish n Chips with great family run vibe. Decent portions and prices. Delivery option was also a bonus one evening i felt like a treat. Its my new favourite in the area. Cheers

I’ve been to this place many times and it’s always a chilled experience. The food is great the ambience and quirkiness is worth a visit alone. The pelican crossing to go to the loo. The bus seats to seat on. Bus stops on the roof. It really is a good night. Watch the videos of old route masters and London. The staff are very friendly and the openers put in a lot of effort to keep it fresh every visit.

When you charge high end for coffee you should provide high end customer service. One customers coffee was being prepared (slowly as always) not even an acknowledgement for the barista that I was even in the shop. Just a simply “Hi sorry I will be with you in a minute” would have done the job. This is a basic rule in hospitality. Forget cocktails & happy hours focus on the basics.

We held our daughters baby shower in the garden, the setting was lovely, the staff were absolutely fab, very attentive and provided excellent customer service. And the food was delicious, enjoyed by everyone. And I have to say compliments to the chef, I had the best nut roast ever! I would highly recommend a visit! Thank you to everyone at the The Lord Nelson for making our celebration special. 👍

We ordered Fruit Cake and Mango Cake last week for my husband and daughter's birthday last week. Both cakes were amazing and good value for money. Fruit cake was soft and had plenty of fruits in it. Mango cake was truly lovely to look at and yummy as well. Both were fresh and just the right amount of sweetness to it...not sickeningly sweet. Well done Jacob's Taste Buds!

It's full of builders in the mornings and lets face it, they tend to know what a god fry up is. And breakfast here is very good. Nothing fancy but covers all of the major food groups - sausages, bacon, eggs, beans or whatever else you like in the morning. It's quick, generous portions and the staff are friendly. Great for a take-out too.
