We came about a year ago and had a lovely Sunday Lunch but this time we were disappointed. The roasties were hard and dry and the beef whilst really tender and flavorful was hard to spot on the plate. Two measly slices and the price of course does not reflect value for money. Such a shame as its a lovely place and the waiters are excellent and this is not their fault. We didnt complain at the time. Should have done but there you go lesson learned. Im not saying dont go but if you arent happy say something.

Had to wait ages for our drinks even though we were the only ones downstairs. Poor service, poor starters didn’t even get everything we ordered, mains were good. Over all over priced and under delivered. Such a different experience from the last time I went when it had recently opened.

Two adults and two dogs enjoyed our weekend at the GTI. From arrival, the personalised touches really made for a memorable experience- homemade cakes, gin and tonic in the suite, relaxed but efficient service and delightfully presented accommodation. The pub and restaurant is wonderful, the food is exceptional. The service was wonderfully attentive and relaxed, the prices were good value. We ate in the restaurant and the pub, both menus were superb. We visited beaches, ran around the Downs, shopped in Burnham Market and Thornham Farm shops.

We happened upon this place by chance and it looked beautiful from the outside… We popped in for a quick drink, were quickly told that we couldn’t stay in the bar as children aren’t permitted… immediately annoyed! So we were told abruptly to go into the “family room” Drinks we had were 2x half pints of orange juice and a pint of lager… £12.85! Fully unaware that I’d be requiring a mortgage for a drink! The interior itself is nice enough. The toilets, as is usually the case had been forgotten about and were very outdated. The staff could do with a shake up regarding their attitudes! Walking around as if they have a smell under their noses. We shall not be returning.

Visited on Sunday as a last minute decision and very glad it ended up in the grove lock!! Well presented restaurant with extremely friendly staff. I ordered a duo of roasts for my Sunday dinner and can easily say it was one of the best I’ve had! Thanks again il definitely be back.

Shocking experience. Started off okay, went in got seated, got drinks and indicated here for carvery and was pointed to the station. Here’s where it goes wrong, waited five minutes for a member of the ‘carvery team’, waitress had to go to kitchen and shout to get their attention. They arrived walking through the restaurant drinks and phones in hand, didn’t wash hands and straight to us. Meat looked like it had been there a while and we just got grunted at. I opted for mix of beef and pork, partner for beef. All we could see was fat. This was reiterated by the time we got to the table and couldn’t eat any of it. Worst bit, all the roast trimmings and grave were cold, like warm at best. Gravy stone cold, yorkshires were stale. When I was eventually checked back on, the waitress explain that is a carvery and it would never be fully hot (anyone that knows anything about food handling knows that hot held food is held to 63 degrees, our meals were barely room temperature) and she could microwave it for me. I said no, I didn’t want it and had lost my appetite. She’s asked my partner if all was okay, my partner said no but she wanted the potatoes as was starving. That is all she ate, just the spuds. Waitress cleared the table and after 30 mins came back to us and asked if we wanted anything else, I said no just the bill. This took another 15 mins and she came back and said she charged me for only one meal, rolled her eyes and walked away. I waited for another 10mins as I wanted to ask her to remove the other meal and I would pay for a portion of potatoes and the drinks, she never came back so I left the money on the table. At no point was a manager called or informed of the issues. Pretty crap and piss poor really!! I know it’s cheap, but I expect properly prepared food. Won’t be going back.

We visited The Crown for a midweek lunch. We had our dog with us so didn’t want the formal dining room. The tables at the front were busy so we found a cosy snug at the back which was almost empty. We had a catch of the day fish and chips, complete with excellent crunchy chips and a smoked fish platter, also very nice. As expected, the full range of Adnams beers were available and in excellent condition. However, what we must really commend The Crown on was the attentive staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them. For example, I asked the barman if there was any water bowls for dogs outside? No need to go outside he replied and dropped what he was doing and brought one to our table. We will definitely return when we ext visit Southwold.
