great place to eat, friendly staff and good food, tidy restaurant and always welcomed, definitely would recommend you to go

We came as a family of 5 whilst here on holiday for the week . Our first ever Toby carvery. We were served by a lovely lady called Megan who made sure we wanted for nothing. She explained everything to us newbies. Outstanding service from her and also the chefs who cooked and carved/served the food. Everything was fantastic, and fresh vegetables, yorkies, stuffing etc being brought out the whole time. The place was rammed and can see why. Would highly recommend, and hope Megan gets some recognition for being excellent in her job.

Food was average. Service was slow but was busy. Need an extra person serving the carvery as they were so busy prioritising takeaways that standing and waiting queue was sooooo long.

Great value great tasting tender meat. I am always surprised at the quality of the food the beef is tender and not over cooked. The service was great, although they don't bring your food over they were very atentive and brought us drinks and dessert promptly and politely

What a lovely place really friendly staff, good food and a great atmosphere, we went during the £6 offer and the short guy carving was very funny, help make the experience lovely

First ever visit. Friendly welcome. Menu showed it was exclusively buffet carvery. Choice of meat carved and thrown on the plate. Self-serve vegetables were attractive but tasteless. The price was very reasonable but clearly not the place if one wants good food.

Really a great place to bring the family. I went with my two adult daughters and their children who are aged from six to twelve years. They were all thrilled at the delicious food, especially the meat. They found the Yorkshire puddings a great plus as well as the wide choice of vegetables. The puddings were so delicious and the source of so many smiles and wishes to return another day. The staff are very friendly and efficient and the restaurant is well kept and clean. Food was good as alway's, plenty of choice. Few people having problems with their discount codes but that was dealt with smoothly. Only thing was a member of staff standing at the bar swearing while talking to a friend, didn't really need to hear that 😒

Really really poor….. It is the ‘home of the roast’ and the menu is deliberately limited which ought to mean that what they do do, they do well….sadly on at least 15th July, no later than 1900, the only roast, at ‘the home of the roast’ was turkey. The vegetables were at best tepid. No redeeming features to my visit

Walked into the restaurant, ordered drinks and straight over to the carvery where we chose our meats and lots of vegetables and tasty gravy- what’s not to like!

Great value for money for a roast dinner. The options available are also great. The service was on point. Would highly recommend, I will be going again.

Shocking breakfast looked it looked like a lorry stop. I decide to pop along to Toby for a cheap family breakfast but we were all disappointed and will not be going back. From the moment we walked I. It was shocking. We booked a table but you have to queue and find your own table there were none and we had to wait why book if you don’t book a table. There was no presentation on the food and what was there was not good. Hash browns were undercooked, mushrooms were swimming in water the beans were more sauce than beans the eggs were all broken and nothing was labelled what happened to the black and white pudding and scrambled eggs if you want a basic breakfast go somewhere else I did go to complain at the bar but I could not get there because of a football team of lads Fing and blinding at the bar and I had kids with me the toilets are disgusting they look like they’ve been not been cleaned in the week dirt all over the handles and floor no toilet paper. And to top it off when we left there were two cooks out the back in full chefs uniform having a cigarette sitting on top of a bin even I know that you need to take off you whites before going do a break hygiene left lacking.

This place is lovely, clean and presentable. staff are always friendly and nothing is ever to much for anyone. meat and veg is always good quality

When we first arrived, we were warmly greeted and led to our table promptly. Despite it being busy, our orders were taken quickly and drinks arrived within moments. The food was delicious and well cooked and our server was polite, friendly and helpful. We even ordered dessert which too was delightful. Definitely will visit again and would recommend visiting to others.

Had a lovely meal at Braintree Toby carvery. Great service from the manager and Poon. Poon was very attentive and interacted with our child nicely. I go to Toby for the beef, which is normally great. Today it wasn't! This was because there was NO beef. They had run out of it before 18:45!!! Maybe i should go to a Beefeater instead. Peas were like bullets Very disappointed.

High praise is due to the staff and food. We ordered takeaway carvery for the first time and enjoyed it immensely.

While the expectation is never great for this type of restaurant, this visit didnt even meet our average expectation. Literally all the food was barely Luke Warm. Must admit we didnt bring it to their attention as we was in a rush. All we wanted was some simple hot breakfast.

I like this Toby's, not only is the food good but the service is better than most other Toby's I've been to. For this visit they were well up to standard. In particular, they keep sending me special offers - on this occasion my wife and I each had 50% knocked off the price of the food - that's a saving of £10. So it is well worth signing up for their emails. The down side is they make a killing on the price of their drinks, there can be long queues for the buffet at peak times, and at busy times you need to book a table in advance.

Popped in on the way back from Essex to wales on the off chance of getting a table. There was literally people queuing at the door and the place was rammed but every member of staff I came across throughout was still positive and helpful. Didn’t turn us away even though I was expecting it wigh how busy they were. Even when the young man got flustered on the bar, a member of staff came over to help. Good team work. The carvers were still cheerful and polite also. Food was great. Only tiny let down was the gravy was a bit watery but in all fairness it really didn’t matter. Well done to the team.

We come here as a family maybe once every couple of months and it has been going down hill rapidly. Last month no ice cream and today no ice for the drinks. All the veg was over cooked. The cauliflower cheese was just mush. We have been coming here for sometime and every Sunday a member of staffs young daughter is sitting by the bar on her lap top. Doesn't matter what time we come she is sitting there. Not sure what the circumstances are but can't be good for her and what other days is she sitting there all day? They ran out of vegetables as the rest of the family was getting their food and had to shut for 10 minutes to replenish. Really poor today. No wonder they were giving out the rate us on trip advisor slips 🙈

What a joke no eggs or mushrooms for breakfast and no price reduction. Unbelievable!! Eggs are freely available.

Lovely place, plenty of parking, friendly staff. Very clean! Even my fussy son ate all he’s roast and said it was really nice!

This is one of the better Toby's - I find other ones have bad service and you have to get up and chase to find a waitress, but here the service is excellent. The food is always very nice, need to fill up your plate first time round, it is awkward going for seconds because of the queue. The downfall, as with Brewers Fayre, is that what they give away with reasonably priced food, they take back with very expensive drinks.

Came here for my second visit in just 6 days, so they must be doing something right. Both times was served by a waitress named Lynn. Nothing was too much trouble and she made our visit most pleasant.
