Toby Carvery in Southend-on-Sea

Visited this Toby recently with family & the whole evening was great. Food was lovely & our waitress Lynn was extremely friendly & helpful- nothing was too much, she really did make our night that much more enjoyable. Restaurant was also very clean with no big ques!

My daughter and I went to the carvery today and we had a lovely Sunday Roast. Straight away we got a friendly, warm welcome from the Greeter. All the meats and veg we had were perfect. Mitchell was our Carver and was welcoming and friendly. Sydney was our Server and she was also welcoming, friendly and looked after us. We both had a Honeycombe Sundaee, which was gorgeous. All washed down with a glass of wine. Perfect Sunday Roast Dinner Toby, as always. Big THANK YOU TO YOU ALL FOR YOUR HARD WORK. 👍👍👍👍👏👏👏🎉🎉🎉

waiting over 33 mins for table no. staff .lots of kids not gopd for a sat night.do not come.too long waiting. let's hope food good

Decided to pop in last minute before heading home and myself and my partner were really impressed with the whole experience. The food was great, service was super quick and despite it being exceptionally warm, the staff maintained a fantastic helpful and happy attitude. Special call out to Kacie who made sure we had everything we need and really is a credit to your restaurant

Where do I start? After waiting in the carvery queue for 40÷ minutes i was very disappointed that the Gammon, Lamb or Pork were 'unavailable'. Made the mistake of choosing the very undercooked & very chewy Beef (what there was of it). No regular Pepsi, Tango or Robinsons available either. This was at 6.30pm on a Sunday visit. The overall service was very poor. Worst experience I have ever received at any Toby ever. Had never visited this Toby at Prince Ave Southend before & most definitely never will again. Truly awful. Found it strange that after visiting any other Toby I always receive a courtesy email within a day or so to ask how the visit was, yet didn't following this visit. Strange that, which is why I'm posting this review.

All four joints looked excellent and at 6:45 the turkey and beef were brought out fresh. Sadly the last 2-3 times we've visited Toby the vegetables have not been consistant. On this visit the cauliflower was fresh and anotther waiting, red cabbage and carrots as you'd expect, but unusually potatoes were well below par. Both tins I felt should have been replaced, the gravy ones were well run down and I would think been sitting there a while. The non gravy seriously looked like could have done with a few minutes more in the oven, difficult to find a crispy one. This critisism is not meant as a complaint as we've been coming to Toby for years and generally most items are very good.

Very well looked after by everyone especially Sydney and Jay and the lovely server who brought our wine in an ice bucket - yum

The Toby Carvery is a great place for a Sunday dinner. The server Little Jas made the meal extra special because she was very polite and friendly. Fantastic service overall.

Visited today with my family. The staff were really lovely, friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful. However, I ordered the melt in the middle roast. It was falling apart and tasted awful! Would not recommend this being ordered!

Really welcoming and helpful. Met some customers there for breakfast, Louise went out of her way to help us and make sure we had everything. Food was good too, who knew Yorkshire pudding tasted ok with breakfast!

The staff are friendly, I went with my 95 year old nan we don't get out together much, haven't been in 3 years as last experience was bad, thought must of improved, the meat was dry, the veg was all dried out the stuffing you needed a hammer, everything tasted the same, this is definitely the last time I step through the doors.

Popped into the Bell for something to eat before the show started at the Cliffs Pavilion. Had a booking so no wait as was pretty busy. Got our order for drinks in and was invited to go to the carvery. Bit if a queue and the carver kept disappearing but eventually got served. Seems as though he had go and get more meat. Delicious as usual but not particularly hot, so need to eat fast! Our server Sydney was very good and we didn’t have to wait long for drinks etc

Had the usual lovely food at the The Bell Toby carvery southend clean and tidy and lovely staff. Unfortunately the tills had gone down and everyone was asked to go get cash. Our poor waitress Louise was run off her feet and put in a very stressful situation. She was amazing and did her up most to get everyone's bills sorted writing it all by hand whilst still trying to serve other people. She definitely deserves special recognition for her massive efforts today she was very professional in such busy chaotic circumstances. Well done Louise And Thank you from The khomri/Phillips family

Had an amazing breakfast this morning but what made it really stand out was the friendliness of lynn. Who assisted us. Lynn is a credit to the restaurant and a very memorable lady who you would hope to bump into again next time we come.
