AVOID!!!! You'd find it hard to get a worse fish and chip shop. Spent nearly £30 on a meal for 2, it was cold, greasy and tasteless, the chips were underdone. They wouldn't even let me use the toilet. Awful, utterly awful.

Always good quality - tasty food. Great that they are open on Sundays too. Friendly delivery guy as well. My go-to takeaway

Chicken was very poor. Appeared to be 2 big pieces but they were all bone and hardly any chicken. Very disappointing.

Went in here yesterday, was treated to the worst customer service imaginable. He rolled his eyes at us constantly and kept muttering under his breath at us. When asked if he wanted to say anything he pretended he had no idea what was going on. It was probably because we were women and he thought he could away with it. The rudest man alive.

Driver did not ring doorbell. Didn’t realise it had been delivered until checked app. Food was on doorstep for 1/2hour. Tip waiting for him as well. Don’t send this driver again

Lovely fresh fish in a golden batter , nicely cooked chips and a thick curry sauce .

Not the restaurants fault but driver was late, I had to call and check they were actually open because it was late on a Sunday, the staff said they were- food was ready but driver not there yet, driver didn’t arrive until 20 mins after that- food was piping hot and delicious still, super grateful for the shop keeping it hot for us! Definitely recommend and will use again!

Food was decent but was unfortunately much later than I requested. When you’ve got young children this is pretty disappointing.

Stopped in for a late night fish & chips dinner. We had scampi and chips x 2, a bread roll each, a can of drink and a couple of sauce sachets and it only came to £21! Really reasonable especially considering scampi can cost a fortune nowadays. The food was piping hot and fresh, and absolutely delicious. Will definitely return!

Ordered from here many times before but today the plaice was completely inedible, overcooked and dried out with hardly any batter attached. Restaurant just said ‘sometimes that happens with plaice’?! Disappointing they would send it out like that ☹️

This is my favourite chippy in leigh on sea. I have been to quite a few chip shop in leigh but unfortunately there not as good as this one. I'm disabled & Have trouble getting around. When I turn up here the staff see me & They go out of there way to help me get in the shop by open the door & Thank they always have a smile on their faces & are always happy to see me. The food is fresh the chips ant fall of starch you can get small, medium, large chips where ever where else I have gone you can on get 2 sizes in chips. The fish they cook here I'd absolutely delicious it's really fresh & not got to much batter on it. I would highly recommend it to everyone. Which I have because as I said I have been to at least ten chippy's where I live & This grate little chippy is a real gem. Ps we Can spend all day with permanent smiles on our faces as we all have other problems going on in our lives outside of work. We all have a bad day and sometimes. I will always go here to get my chippy dinner as its the best one around here I have been too.

Very good quality Ribs every time. Chips were also fresh and tasty. I can’t fault this shop. The opening times are also spot on for me. Good deliveries each time too. Very dependable quality would highly recommend

Decent food but sometimes I get soggy fish.

Burger missing from our order of circa £50, leaving one of my children without a suitable meal, when called Fish to Go, to try and resolve. Found myself on the receiving end of a rather unhelpful conversation with the “manager” who was unable to tell me their name?!? Rather strange approach to trying to resolve what could have been a very straightforward resolve to the situation. Basically extremely awkward.

Simple chips and battered sausage. Burnt sausage, average chips.

The price is absolutely ridiculous. Not even a full meal ordered for two of us when two people should be able to eat for this price. One piece of fish, some scampi pieces, and one battered sausage for 27. Love your product but can’t justify ordering again

Very greasy Fish and did not taste good at all. Chips were part cooked and then heated up. The food was that bad, I would not recommend it.

The food is great, but the quality of staff seem to be going downhill, though. They seemingly only recruit miserable teenagers these days.. far from the friendly local chippy I'm used to, but it's my closest chippy and the good is bloody good.

Fish & pie were super. Chips disappointing

The girl, who served me had fake eyelashes, fake hair and false nails, which looked dirty. I said yes to salt and vinegar and the chips were so salty, impossible to eat. Regretfully, her appearance did not inspire me with confidence and apart from the cooked fish, the chips went straight into the bin. Her fake eyelashes were covered in some horrible white skin stuff, which made me feel horrible everytime she blinks. Her fake fingernails looked dirty.First and last time for me

Disgusting customer service, a member of staff thought it was okay to swear at customers just for simple and reasonable requests which looks like a common occurrence based on reviews, maybe management need to remove this member of staff, others have been very lovely before, also forgot items. Will never visit again and don’t recommend others to.

Despite going in here a few times and food being "ok", nothing special to be honest; in my opinion, some of the staff need to either be sacked and new ones hired or go on a customer service course, because they are rude, disinterested and don't even say hi or bye!!! No customer service skills at all. Even swore at a family member for no reason and other staff members didn't try to diffuse the situation. There was no need for the rudeness at all. Disgusting. When the staff member in question was asked about why are they being rude and swearing, they couldn't even give a valid answer as to why. Not the service you expect to receive on a Sunday evening!!

The person who served my partner was so rude, he didn’t ask if we wanted salt & vinegar on our chips and then got annoyed to the point that he swore to another waiting customer about my partner when he asked if he could have salt & vinegar! Very rude and unprofessional. We have been many times in the past and the other staff are really pleasant but this member of staff has been rude in the past but not to this point.

It’s not difficult to smile or even say bye! Food average but probably would’ve tasted nicer if I wasn’t left with a sour taste in my mouth from the customer service!

Found this to be a really good place. Chips were good and the fish was really excellent. Flaky and moist with thin crisp batter. Best I’ve had in a while.

Used to be the best, now they get orders/prices wrong. Fried chicken cooked and recooked so many times it is brittle.

The rudest man I have ever been served by! I was left to wait while the member of staff cleaned up but ignored me. Didn’t even say I will be with you in a minute. He then just nodded at me for my order…no greeting or what would you like? He spoke in the rudest manner, no smile. I said to him you are supposed to be polite to customers and asked him not to be rude to me. He just stated in a hostile way I am not being rude. My son said he did exactly the same thing to him a few months ago. Left him standing for ages and then spoke in a hostile way with an angry look on his face! I thought he was exaggerating at the time but experienced it myself today. I wish I had videoed it! Really unbelievable. I will never go there again!

Ordered small Rock & Chips on the 9/8/2023 at around 12.30pm, the batter was so dry and the fish was non existant, they use frozen chips......please don`t use this place (not a proper chippy).....awful awful awful

I had read the reviews about the new ownership being poor but hadn’t quite expected what I got. I arrived to get a takeaway and got ignored so asked if they were still serving. Wasn’t sure because they were all just talking and music blasting. They were still open, but the guy that served didn’t crack a smile or give eye contact, just said ‘what do you want’ so I ordered and then he just told me the cost, again no smile or eye contact. I actually took the rudeness as a challenge and decided to be overly nice and asked how he was and if he had had a good day and was looking forward to the end of it, he just looked at me and completely ignored me and just walked away. Haven’t even had my food yet but it doesn’t matter whether it is good or not, having been coming here for over 10 years I will never come here again due to the complete rudeness of the staff. If you don’t want to do customer service, don’t buy a customer facing business or employ such rude people!

I go in here on my break sometimes and the workers are just so miserable and rude all the time, makes you feel like you’re getting judged constantly.

Usually get good chips here but this time most of my portion was black chips , Very speedy service this time. Fairly friendly service too.

Food ok, but service is appalling. Tried a few times and never get my order right so have to go back to sort by which time the rest of the order is cold. Never apologise and begrudgingly give me what I ordered and paid for. Will never use again and would advise anyone else to avoid.

Have been here a few times but not what it was. Service was terrible, staff behind the counter were swearing in front of children. They were slow. The chips were undercooked. On the plus side, the fish was bang average.

Really horrible rude staff. Portions tiny, prices mental and food bland and soggy. Tripadvisor specifies reviews should be 100 characters plus so I should emphasise how rude the staff are. So many better options nearby.

Management need to invest in some customer training for the two blokes that took/served up our takeaway order today (not sure if one of them was the manager?) Disinterested, not particularly helpful and certainly did not make me feel like a valued customer. Shame as we used to like it here but won’t be returning or recommending until the attitude of the staff changes. It may just be a chippy but when I’m parting with my cash, then I expect to feel welcomed at the very least. Food was to an acceptable standard but a shame the vinegar was watered down so much it was virtually flavourless. I just expected much better and will go elsewhere in future.

Rude staff, and the food is below average

Went on a Friday night. It was busy but didn’t mind the wait as everything cooked fresh. Our order was pretty simple, but service was chaotic so food was coming out in no order at all. The servers were rude and aggressive. The food wasn’t as good as it had been. Won’t return

Tiny portions , deadass chips , don’t waste your money

Absolutely lovely Fish and Chips as always, but so disappointed that Ribs I had ordered had been forgotten. Not properly checking the order before issuing it is unacceptable, particularly when some customers travel a significant distance to use this shop. To drive back from Rayleigh to Leigh on Sea is not going to happen. 4 stars for quality 1 star only for packaging.

Alright, but I'm a little partial as the previous owners were amazing and the food was better. The new owners are good just not as personable as the previous owners.

shame on you why did you close your little Restuarant t all locals loved it and looked forward to going there You blamed it on covid you were open. went to the restaurant last Friday the staff never cracked a smile all the men were moody and aggressive and mucking around and playing music full blast as a chef, I noted that the chips had been cooked in dirty oil The food has gone completely downhill as you look into the shop you see clothing bags of potatoes and utter mess .What happened , was the best is now the worse Won't go back there until it Improves, and the staff act like humans.

I popped in here as I was in the area and hungry - my first time visiting and my last. There was a young guy on the till, I didn't get a hello or a smile. Food seems expensive in their compared to my usual - £1.99 for a small portion of chips, £2.99 for medium and I assume the large was £3.99. I ordered my food (small chips and a sausage) and waited. I didn't have to wait long until my food was ready. A big, plump guy called out my food and put it on the counter. I did not get asked if I wanted salt and vinegar on my chips, I did not get asked if I wanted the chips opened (to eat on the go) or wrapped. I then asked for ketchup and his response was 'you need to pay extra for sauce'. He gave me no price. I opted for no sauce as his rudeness made me not want to give any more money to that business. As I stood at the counter putting salt and vinegar on my chips the same guy stood there looking at me and watching what I was doing. He didn't seem impressed with the fact that I stood there putting salt and vinegar on my chips. I have never been to a chip shop where I haven't been asked if I wanted salt and vinegar on my chips. The taste of the chips and sausage were ok. I have had nicer chips in other chip shops. I would not coke back here, mainly for the rudeness of the staff. They need staff training on how to treat and speak to customers. Poor service and average food. Give this place a miss and find another chip shop.

Plus side- they did actually well cook the chips 👍 Negative - I'd specifically asked if they had minced beef and onion pie, I was told yes there's one left. Only to be told once it was all bagged up that they ran out. (I heard him say a just eat customer had it) Could I choose something else? Ended up with a pie my son doesn't like because I wasn't told in time to have anything else cooked 😡

I wish Fish to Go was closer to home.! We had a takeaway that we ate out of the box in a local park. The lightly battered fish was perfect and the portions were decent. What really impressed me is that they were attentive enough to supply extra cutlery- so when my fork broke there was no hassle.

Wouldn’t have given any starts tbh. Over priced and tastes awful, if that weren’t enough the kids meals are worse! If I could add a picture I would, melted saveloy (like how) so all red skin soggy and hanging off and red chips! Nice.

Since it’s been taken over this place has gone massively downhill which is a real shame. Extremely rude staff who struggle to take their eyes off the tv to take your order.. when they do.. they are possibly the rudest I’ve ever experienced. Then you have the cheap nasty and seriously crap food… cheap oil and sun standard batter ...and then overcharged two out of three times visited in two months. They couldn’t even cook my daughters saveloy.. twice completely cold. Gave it a hat trick of chances as it’s local and given the recent takeover I thought it might be finding it’s feet. It’s not. And it won’t. Never again.

Specifically asked for chips to be well cooked (triple cooked). Yet again, I waited a long time with nobody else there, plenty of staff so not sure exactly what took so long. Very disappointing meal, bland cooked far from well done, tiny portions, costs a fortune. Think I'll start avoiding.

Ordered fish and chips from here and patiently waited a good 15 minutes. I really needed to go to the toilet while I was waiting and even though they do a ‘dine in’ experience they refused to let me use the toilet. As much as I appreciate they were only open for takeaway, I feel knowingly having the facilities and refusing a paying female customer access to the toilet is unacceptable.

My 1st time here today for large + medium cod with chips, curry sauce & mushy peas. For over 30yrs I've been going to Oldhams on West Rd. Never thought I'd say it but these guys have knocked Oldhams out of sight. Everything was absolutely delicious. Will make an effort to come here again. Great service also. Well done guys, top marks and keep it up 👍

Very disappointed. Arranged to bring a group of Scouts here after an evening walk. Phoned ahead and was assured that shop would be open and could serve everyone. When we arrived, found that they had shut up 90 minutes early.
