Great afternoon with friends and live music. Tabke service was brilliant.

A great place to take Family from Oz on a rainy lunchtime. A massive thank you to Griff and other staff who were friendly and attentive. We all enjoyed the Steak Ale pie. Family from Oz enjoyed the quiantness of the pub.

I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, I went here with my family for lunch and the food was lovely and it came out quickly. Griffin always had a smile on his face and came over checking on us seeing how our food was and that.

I come with my family for Father's day, with beautiful sunshine we sat in the garden area, it is a very lovely place, and staff are great, Griffin was brilliant, really lovely and helpful. Thank you, look forward to coming back.

We came for lunch after a 5 mile walk. We were impressed by the selection of 5 real ales. The food was delicious. My dad had the fish and chips and I had the fish goujon sandwich . The portions were generous. The staff were friendly and attentive, despite being quite busy.

Bar food is brilliant. The loaded chips, bone less chicken with chilli dip. Don't get me started on the haddock goujons fan bloody static. And the staff a pretty good. Love you guys.

Bethan’s service was amazing - she ensured our drinks and food arrived promptly and she was entertaining despite how busy the pub was!

Seafood very fresh a d bear cold downside not enough parkin g.got a ticket cosy husband 35pounds and I am disabled with blue .bage but parked on yellow line that went the wrong way

Friendly & attentive staff; looked after a large group of us on a busy Saturday evening when we booked at short notice to come down for work-team drinks. All very helpful, buzzing atmosphere (helped by the beautiful weather) & one of our guys ordered food (fish & chips) which looked amazing & he confirmed it was as tasty as it looked 😁 Big thanks to the team!

Great location weather your sitting inside or outside gets very busy at this pub but that doesn’t effect the experience you can order on the app and your drinks are brought to your table

Bar staff were rude and aggressive. Horrible atmosphere. Never going there again.

Rudest bar staff I have ever come across. I asked for music to be turned down (not off) and was called a s**t by barman. Music was then turned up even louder. Will never go there again.

Just went in for a drink I don’t usually drink but had a captain Morgan’s with blackcurrant and ice was really nice Martin had his cider prices reasonable I also had a tomato juice which was very refreshing Clean pub seating outside and across the road friendly service

Completely humiliated by the lady serving. I waited in the restaurant trying to get some kind of acknowledgement. When eventually did get eye contact was completely ignored. Waited a bit longer, walked into the other bar and she just ignored me again. I know I'm not a regular but felt most unwelcome. Am moving in the area but disappointed as wanted it to be my local.

My favourite pub in old Leigh for sure. Amazing atmosphere and the staff are excellent, friendly and quick to serve. Dog friendly too which makes a world of difference to us. Love the fact they rotate the ales on offer and you can get a great pint of guinness in there too. Food is good value too. Thank you !!

Lovely haddock and chips as always, atmosphere lovely and staff always looking after us. We had a selection of the Bar snacks which looked massive portions and full of flavour.

Oh dear, we went on the SHANTY DAY , the music was dreadful, the singers were like the waking dead , one ol boy looked like uncle albert after 20 pints of rum .Definately would not return

A very busy venue but well worth visiting.

We came for a Bank Holiday Saturday afternoon. There were singers in the outside area. It was lively and crowded, the music was nice and the service was fast enough.

Very busy bar, that said we, did go on a sunny Bank Holiday Saturday. Beer was okay, music was good but we couldn't get close to hear it properly. Sandflies / Blackfish are a nuisance,!

Friendly staff in a traditional pub . The beer is great and the food delicious. Parking nearby is an easy walk. Only downside you can’t book a table for the same day, so you need to take a chance, although you can book in advance, just not on the day.

Took the wife out for a walk down old Leigh and stopped in the Crooked billet, best decision. Friend team, warm and cosy atmosphere, and the food was just what we needed. Lovely view of the estuary.

We met up with friends and had a drink. A small area inside and another bigger room for eating. Very comfortable and welcoming for a few drinks and a catch up with old friends. Great views of the estuary.

So went to a jazz show in Southend and went here afterwards. Fantastic range of beers and nice atmosphere. Food was brilliant and service very good. Would go again really nice pub.

Everything was great, it's just a very cramped environment so maybe don't over fill the restaurant.

Bethan was a star, she was attentive, informative and generally a great host, making our visit a pleasurable one. Excellent as always, but disappointed that the Celiac choices have reduced on the current menu.

Food was great, staff were on the ball and we love the live music. Will definitely be back soon.

Great pub which held a brilliant Xmas celebration!

Prior to our visit yesterday, we had been for a roast with you and it was delicious. Unfortunately yesterday's meal was very average. We were disappointed. We spend over £250 with you and felt like the food was very ordinary. Disappointing as we hardly go out to eat at present. The only saving grace was a great member of staff who looked after us. She was so lovely. You also need to sort out your door! It was very cold with it being opened and left open at times.

The waitress (Bethan) that served us was very professional, ensuring that our every need was attended too, even though it was extremely busy due to the Christmas market.

Booked table easily on line . Arrived slightly early for our booking so ordered drinks at the bar . Bar man friendly , polite , drinks purchased & we made our way to our table . Small restaurant but very nice , not too busy . Menus delivered , Joseph our server was very polite, orders taken at the table . Starter arrived quick , piping hot & absolutely delicious, landlords platter , breaded chicken pieces, duck croquettes, mini chorizo, halloumi fries & pardron peppers , never had them b4 & they were delicious , the platter was accompanied by sweet chilli dip & garlic mayo . We followed with bacon/cheese burger for my husband with fries , which he said the burger was lovely , juicy , just the right size & the haddock & chips for me , again absolutely great batter crispy, fish so tender , both meals very plentiful , so much so we couldn’t manage a dessert just a latte to follow , We will definitely be back . Thank you Crooked billet for a lovely evening & meal .

Never eaten in here but looks good. Lovely seafood stall next door and looking out to see with a roll mop and a Guinness. Magic.

Lovely olde world pub beside the water where you can taste the sea air as well as the history. Really excellent cuisine served by attentive staff. Good sized spill over areas would adequately cater for the more warmer day. Recommended.

Amazing experience! Our server was lovely, the atmosphere was charming and cozy, and the food and drinks were delicious. I have to eat gluten free and the waiter was SO attentive and made sure every single thing was safe! I don’t know if I’ve ever had such a good dining experience with my allergies. Wonderful experience all around - I highly recommend! We will be back!

Expensive and full of coked up "cokneeeys" these days. Used to be my go to local, but like the other locals, drink elsewhere nowadays. Seem more interested in lager swilling druggie daytrippers than the folk that kept it open in the "low season".

Lovely old crooked building. Very old, very warm though! Super cozy spot to get out the cold. Good selection of drinks, reasonable prices and nice food menu. Pie was lush, very much the country oub feel. Looks like they do a lot of events as well, but nothing was on at this visit. Will be back when in the area

Loved the atmosphere and the food. The side-garden looks really clean and feels cosy. The food was outstanding. I bought the fish and chips... however there was a small amount of chips but a massive fish given which was really tasty. I really recommend going here.

Great little pub! Located right opposite one of the best seafood counters. Great for summer, plenty of outdoor seating in the courtyard opposite. Seafood virtually on tap. The pub does great food options also. Cosy and quiet by the log fire during winter!
