I ate here on consecutive nights during my weekend in Blakeney, since my first visit was excellent in almost every respect. The waiter was very helpful when I complained about the sticky table, explaining that it was due to over-use of sanitzer and moving me to another table with a glass top. My simple haddock and chips was perfect. Thin crispy batter, a generous helping of tartare sauce and deliciously minty pea puree. On the second night the starter of smoked mackerel pate and the seared tuna and cucumber salsa of the mains were similarly excellent. But the bed of couscous was drenched in a shoyu-based dressing that was inedibly salty. I do not mean just a bit salty. I mean heart-attack salty. A professional chef should obviously not make such a simple error and at the very least should taste their creation before passing it for service. I duly complained (though did not just send it back as I should have). The waiter deleted the service charge without my asking, but I left gasping for water despite having eaten barely 10% of the cous cous. On reflection the waiter should have apologized and returned it to the kitchen themself. The incident marred what would otherwise have been a 5-star review.

Went as a group of 6 for a carvery lunch. The carvery was terrible, shrivelled up dry meat, everything was cold. When complained told I had no right too because someone else on the table had finished theirs and that I should of complained at the start even though I hadnt eaten it. Will definitely give this place a wide berth in future

Sooooo impressed! Came here around 6 months ago and was shocked at how bad it was! Everything sticky and gross… however came tonight to give it another try. Really pleasantly surprised! Manager greeted us at the door and was shown to our table. I’m a vegan and the food was really good and had a meat alternative for me! My boyfriend isn’t and he said his carvery was great, meat was great! Started talking to the manager and he said there has been a change in management which makes sense with how much better the place is! Will definitely be returning! As a vegan I prefer this place over a Tobey any day!

Horrible. the meat looks like it could have come from a dog or at least a decendent of a dog. The breakfast is usually quite good in weatherspoons, but not queen of Iceni. It looks like something from a bin. The only time I can accept all of this is for a drink after a Norwich game.

AVOID No point booking because you just sit anywhere Don't expect to eat all your breakfast at once, no eggs, mushrooms, potatoes beans or sausages when we queued, twice went up for an egg and there were so many people waiting we never got anything so what seemed like a cheaper breakfast wasn't when all we could get was bacon, hash browns and toast. The place is dirty and understaffed.

I wasn’t expecting much of a Sunday Lunch Carvery, partly because of the very reasonable price. Wrong - it was good. The meat was flavourful and tender. Yorkshire puddings especially nice. I would have preferred a hot plate to be honest, but that aside, I really was pleasantly surprised.

Surprisingly Mediocre, the pub is in a lovely location, but is so let down by very inattentive staff. We were located close to the bar and despite being told to sit at our table and someone would look after us, it simply didn’t happen all the way through. If we didn’t go to the bar, nothing would have happened and we were studiously ignored. It wasn’t helped by a statutory service charge being added, but you would have had to ask for it to be removed from the card machine which is embarrassing. So all in all disappointing which is really where a lot of other reviews come out. The Chestnut Group (the owners) need to get a grip of it as it could be so much better

We arrived early and were seated by a lovely, friendly and professional young man called Edward. He was very knowledgable about then teas available and the delicious cakes. We ordered a pot of the jasmine tea and a pot of the Russian caravan tea both of which were outstanding. You even get an extra pot of pipping hot water to top up your tea. The red velvet cake we ordered didn’t last long as it was so moist and delicious. Thank you to everyone at Harriet’s - until we visit again which will be very soon.
