I ordered the Stake and Ale pie and it was amazing. The portion sizes were amazing, absolutely huge also a chocolate brownie which came with ice cream and honeycomb. The owners is amazing and a great laugh. It was amazing service and the food was out of the world. I highly recommend.

Out on a walk and decided to pay a visit to this cafe as always see this passing by in the car. A warm welcome greeted us . Decided on the small breakfast and Mediterranean TM2 eggs. 2 fab coffees . Food was spot on . Friendly staff . Great service . Will definitely visit again .

Proper country pub atmosphere - orders are taken at the little bar and taken down into the cellar where kegs are stored. Tabs are done on little wooden spoons taken to your table, if you can find one unreserved. Always people coming in from dog walks, bike rides or after work. Great atmosphere. Ciders are excellent and a great amount of choice. Huffers also recommended. We stayed here for a night once after a long walk across the fields nearby and it was a very comfortable stay.

Superb! We were greeted quickly and sat in the lounger where we ordered our drinks and browsed the menu. Unhurried and relaxed. Once chosen and ready we were shown to our table where the food arrived in good time. Starters were delicious, then followed by a lovely sorbet. Mains and dessert were equally as good. The service was excellent, attentive without any intrusion. The seating is spacious too. And all very reasonably priced for the quality of the dinner experience. I knocked one star off as the decor is slightly and only very slightly dated in the restaurant part and toilet. And the couple closest to us stunk of smoke and were loud and annoying, but thats not the restaurant's fault. All in all, cannot wait to go back as there was so much to choose from in a lovely setting.

Great for a family gathering, food is lovely and the staff are so welcoming and efficient. The lady behind the carvery was very over worked and should be very proud of the way she carried herself through the stress. Would really recommend this place for atmosphere, food and service.

*Copy of my Google Maps review* Freshly made in-house food including cakes. I had not tried any of their hot food but the cakes are great! I am especially happy that they have a good selection of vegan suitable and gluten free options including sandwiches and cakes. A tad pricy but worth it to support the small business and great quality. Outdoor seating with a picturesque riverside view of Paper Mill lock. Pictures attached of the view from near the tearooms. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Cakes Vegetarian & vegan offerings Large vegetarian selection with some nice vegan options too Dietary restrictions Vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options for sandwiches and cakes. Parking space Plenty of parking Parking options Paid parking lot Parking Parking behind the tearoom. Not exclusive to the tearoom as it is for entry to the lock. £5 entry fee (£2.50 from 2:30pm - 5pm when i visted)

We'd been to Danbury Lakes and found the closest pub to go have some lunch. So we were introduced to The Bell and wow I'm so pleased we were. Let by Daniel who's lovely and had a choice of seats as a walking club who had booked table were not walking sure to the heat. 32C We were both made welcome and seated with a fan. Complementary water at the bar was nice. The menu is quite extensive and the food we chose was well worth it. I had the Sausage Melt and my wife had a Cheese/Onion baguette. Both come with salad and chips, and they were very filling. Such a nice place to eat with great food, friendly staff who made us very welcome. Just to note this is a dog friendly pub, with facilities for the larger dogs like Greyhounds too. So to follow this up, we are looking to have a lunch with friends with our dogs, when the weather is less crazy.
