The best restaurants serving British food in De Parys Bedford East of England

Just visited The Grove Restaurant for their Christmas menu and the food and service has been excellent, would highly recommend to all. Thanks for a lovely meal! 👍

We have lived in Arlesey for 27 years and the standard of food we have bought from this take away is consistently very good. The proprietors are always welcoming. We as a family rate them very highly.

The Pavilion in Bedford Park enjoys a fantastic location, but unfortunately, our visit was a letdown. Despite being the only customers both inside and out, our food took an unreasonably long time to arrive. When it finally did, the chips were cold, and the bread roll was unpleasantly chewy—possibly microwaved from frozen. With plenty of staff on hand, the delay was baffling, and disappointingly, they weren’t particularly engaging or attentive. The atmosphere wasn’t much better. One of the toilets was out of order, and there was a faint but noticeable toilet odour throughout the café. Perhaps to mask this, all the heaters were turned off—despite it being the middle of February—making for an uncomfortably cold experience. It’s frustrating because this place has real potential. With the right staff, better service, and a little investment in the facilities, it could be a real gem. The location alone should make it a thriving, welcoming spot, but sadly, our visit didn’t reflect that.

High quality food in a beautiful riverside setting with excellent service. Hotel accom on site is excellent value and high quality

Cuatro de nosotros fuimos aquí para el almuerzo del domingo, no es una gran zona de restaurantes, aunque muy peculiar con colecciones de platos y tazones alrededor de las paredes, muchos de los cuales se utilizan cuando está ocupado, por lo que sugeriría reservar. Louis es un anfitrión increíble que da la bienvenida a todos personalmente asegurándose de que su visita sea un placer. Cuando visitamos había una selección de tres asados. El tamaño de los platos con abundantes cantidades de verduras, patatas asadas y mucha salsa en el bote era enorme, y durante la comida se nos aplicó carne extra. Todo estaba muy sabroso, y servía tubería caliente. Es un pub y había una buena gama de cervezas, vinos, etc, todo el personal era muy agradable y amable. Sin duda recomendaría y volveremos si en la zona.

I moved from Bedfordshire to Norfolk 18 months ago but return periodically to Bedford. This was my third stay at the D’Parys. I find the staff unfailingly polite and helpful. The rooms are quirky, but in a good way. The showers/bathrooms have always been really clean. The beds are comfortable and the bedding lovely. I enjoy the food, particularly breakfast, but I really enjoyed last night’s dinner. Parking is easy, either in the hotel’s carpark behind the hotel or for a small charge in the road in front. Importantly, though, as a female travelling alone, I feel really safe here. I enjoy a drink in the lovely bar after dinner. No problem whatsoever. I can throughly recommend the D’ Parys.

Service abysmal, was a queue of 6 groups waiting to be seated on arrival with one person seating. Was greeted with ‘sorry we don’t have any Chicken goijons, potato dippers, burgers, chicken burgers, fish, curry, brownies or crumble!’ Would’ve been quicker to tell me what they did have!!! Again, when ordering food and drinks at the bar, one person serving (as well as pouring drinks), with a long queue. Severely understaffed, poor service, and ridiculous amount of non availability of food.

Booked for Sunday lunch, then at short notice added an additional person requiring gluten free. The landlady couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating, phoning back to confirm they could do a gf roast with trimmings. The pub has a good ambiance with friendly staff. There was a choice of gf starters which is unusual and greatly appreciated. The food was good, we plan to return at some point to try the home made pies.

Friendly staff. Food took a little while coming - bacon sandwich - was told no white bread?? So had brown. Cooked to my preference. Lovely coffee. Very comfortable surroundings and no staff to hassle you! Reasonable price especally if you have a Debenhams Card.

Really rude girl behind the bar . Thought was just me but was 6 of us and another had the same issue. Our last ever visit. Shame
