Booked for Sunday lunch, then at short notice added an additional person requiring gluten free. The landlady couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating, phoning back to confirm they could do a gf roast with trimmings. The pub has a good ambiance with friendly staff. There was a choice of gf starters which is unusual and greatly appreciated. The food was good, we plan to return at some point to try the home made pies.

Had a really nice evening with friends found the landlord to be really welcoming and the barstaff to be friendly. Have visited a few times and the food has been excellent on this visit we went for the new tapas menus the chorizo was my favourite but all the dishes we ordered were very nice. The only down side of the evening was watching Ronaldo score a hatrick but you can really blame the establishment for that

As previous review found the owner very rude and it seemed that he couldn’t be bothered to serve us. Food was below average, don’t think it was cooked fresh.

Called in for weekday lunch as I had looked at the menu with a good variety of home cooked meals . We had a burger and lasagne . The Lasagne was a small rectangle obviously pre cooked , cut into portions and then microwaved and put in the middle of an oval dish . It was over microwaved and very dry . The burger was the same , it was small . thin , very overcooked ( a bit like eating the sole of my shoe ) The dishes were £11 each, I expected something better

Stopped off here for lunch. Great beer and although a small menu the chilli was really good and nippy....not just a bolognese sauce with kidney beans you usually get in a pub. Lovely staff, lovely food and lovely beer.....what's not to like??

Dropped in Sunday lunchtime. No usual menu just Sunday Roast today. Walked into an almost empty pub and asked for a table for 2. The response was 'well not sure as you should have booked' ?? but he said it would be OK. Ordered a beef and a pork at £10.95. I must say it wasn't the best I have ever had. The veg, although plentiful, was over cooked and soggy, two slices of meat which, in our view was a bit mean. Overall not up to our expectations. The yorkshire pudding - well not sure what that was about but it was smaller than one of my potatoes!! Very disappointing really think it could have been so much better.

Very friendly service, good well-kept beers and very nice food. A nice touch was that whilst there was no specific kids menu, my children were offered a great set of options which were cooked to order and they loved their meals. We visited for Saturday lunch and will be returning.

I agree with a previous reviewer - address is incorrect (not in Sandy) and it took me ages to find details on this pub. I was looking for a mid location for a friend and myself to meet for for supper and stumbled across this one, vaguely knowing the village. On arrival the car park was full - good sign for a Monday night. The bar area was very busy with local people - good sign. I felt very welcomed by all the people at the bar ! it was like a parting of the waves as I approached : ) it was quite early in the evening and there was no sign that the pub was serving food. Having established they would be, I was given an extensive menu of all the usual pub foods. My friend and I both ordered Hunters chicken and it was delicious. Service took a while due to continual power cuts but the owners were great and let us know of the issues as they soldiered on. The pub is dog friendly - they have a very friendly dog who frequents the area near the warm fire. I would say a pub like this is the perfect pub for a village - very friendly and welcoming to outsiders. We felt completely comfortable there. I would definitely recommend it and will be back there very soon.

It was a horrid day - cold and grey. But just entering the Chequers lifted my spirits - friendly people, a roaring wood fire and comfortable seats in the lovely old building. Then came a most delicious lunch. Very tasty Moroccan lamb koftas with a pretty salad and a yoghurt/mint dip, followed by scrumptious beef bourguignon served with creamy mash and green beans in a great Yorkshire pudding. Finally a yummy lemon meringue ice cream cake. The price was fine, the service exemplary and there was no waiting around for the next course to arrive. Great ales from Nethergate and Woodfordes complemented the meal perfectly. Thank you for a memorable visit - I can't wait to bring my husband!

This was the second visit to The Chequers at Wrestlingworth. The first thing you should know is that the correct address is 43 The High street Wrestlingworth near Sandy SG19 2EP, it is not in Sandy itself, so many people never find the place! The pub is a really good pub with the owner and wife running the bar and restaurant and it gives it a fantastic family feel to the place. Everybody is friendly and helpful and it's the kind of place where you squeeze into places where tales are fitted as there are so many nooks and crannies in this old English pub. There are inglenook fireplaces and Oak beams galore and this all adds to the homeliness of the place. Put 50p or a£1 in the juke box and you can bop away to your favourite music but not too loud to disturb anybody. The food is served up promptly and is hot and fresh with a typical pub menu. There is live entertainment and regular team events for the locals such as darts and petanque and there are regular quiz nights. There is a great range of beers and wines for all tastes including real ales. We will be back to visit again soon, we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Well done the Chequers at Wrestlingworth!

What a disappointment - we went to the pumpkin patch with 3 grandchildren. The activities there were not well maintained, on the Mini Tractor Trail the tractors would not move due to being placed on damp lumpy grass, the Spooky Mini Golf had definitely seen better days. We paid an extra £5.99 per child for Chocolate Apple Dunkin when booking online which consisted of a very small apple on a stick which was then dipped in chocolate and sprinkles

Oh Dear, another Pub totally unaware of the current disability regulations. There isn't a ramp, there are even any same level flooring, upon enquiring with one of the staff regarding access to the premises, by one in a wheelchair, we were curtly reminded that this was a traditional Public House, who don#t cater for those with mobility issues! Such a shame as my friend had his legs blown off in Afghanistan, and is a hero.
