The Park Pub and Kitchen in Bedford

Visited for weekday lunch, had Caesar salad but missing the anchovies and chips we ordered, these were brought out eventually once we found the server to ask and there was no check back. The staff were polite and friendly, nice food and comfortable setting.

Oh Dear What Can The Matter Be? One Old Lady Stuck In Lavatory Monday Lunch Birthday Celebrations We enjoyed our lunch, with some of the specials - which were thoroughly enjoyed it. I had halloumi Burger which arrived looking a little lacking in effort, but tasted okay. During my visit I went to the toilet and the lock broke and I was stranded there for nearly 15 minutes! Calling for help on a Monday afternoon in an empty pub. I was eventually rescued when another customer came in. After I was handed a screwdriver to remove the lock I was released It would have been thoughtful of someone to apoligise and say sorry or maybe me ask if I was alright. It's not just the food or drink that make a place, but the care of their customers and their well being!

Excellent service, atmosphere and the fish and chips were exceptional. Highly recommended

A decent pup, quite large, with parking. Quite an old building, earlier than the surrounding housing.

Exceptional! Rosie and Flora were outstanding and the barman also deserves a mention for his friendly and professional service. We used to own a restaurant so we know that this is not just about the food. Great food can make a restaurant good but it takes great service from front of house to make it a restaurant worth talking about. The food was really exceptional too. Lovely evening with great food and exceptional service. We are blessed with somewhere so close with such high standards. Thanks for a lovely evening, we look forward to visiting again soon.

¡Maravilloso almuerzo! Todo estaba delicioso. Desde la mermelada de chile hasta la salsa de pimienta en grano y el bistec fue uno de los mejores que he comido. Es un poco más caro que algunos pubs, pero definitivamente obtiene lo que paga aquí. Estoy deseando volver.

A park for the chosen ones again

“Fantástico lugar para el trabajo o el ocio! ” ¡Qué lugar tan bonito! Desde el momento en que entramos, el personal amable nos hizo sentir bienvenidos y atendidos. El café era de primera categoría, y los postres eran absolutamente deliciosos - perfecto para una delicia rápida o una larga charla. El WiFi funcionaba perfectamente, por lo que es un lugar ideal para una reunión de negocios improvisada o simplemente ponerse al día con los amigos en un ambiente relajado. La comida era sublime, sabrosa y muy bien preparada, aunque estaba tan absorto en la experiencia que olvidé tomar fotos! En general, este es un lugar fantástico que combina un gran servicio, excelente comida y un ambiente cálido. Sin duda volveremos pronto! Menciones especiales también: Annie, Freya y Evie eran muy hospitalarios y cortés.

We booked for a Boxing Day lunch for a group of 8 and sadly it’ll likely be our last visit to the pub. Service was incredibly slow other than one waitress who was very helpful (sadly I didn’t get her name) and food / drinks took ages to arrive. Yet again, the ‘pie of the day’ was unavailable which is incredibly disappointing given our reservation was at 1pm. We requested a copy of the menu in advance of our reservation but only the link to the website was provided so given it was Boxing Day, we assumed the festive menu would be running - this wasn’t the case disappointedly and only their normal menu was available (perhaps this should be specified given the festive period). One of the guests ordered the sausage roll as a starter but it wasn’t “quite ready” at the same time as the others, when it eventually arrived (after we had all finished ours), it was still frozen in the middle so was inedible! The rest of the table ordered moules but these were tepid at best. Considering this is seen as a gastropub, this visit left a lot to be desired with the food and service.

Once again we enjoyed some excellent food. The service was a bit slow due to the amount of customers not the staff who were running around trying to keep everyone happy

Big bar / restaurant area hard to get the atmosphere

Chica de bar de pelo oscuro cara sulky no tiene ni idea sobre el servicio eficiente o el seguimiento de los clientes. Esperó 15 minutos y después de que ella atendió a 3 personas que hicieron cola después de nosotros nos fuimos. Servicio patético y no volverá. Ordena a tu personal.

Last week I attended this restaurant for a wake and I think it was possibly the worst buffet I can ever remember being served. When I found out how much they had paid for it I was shocked at how poor the quality and choice had been. I’ve had the misfortune to attend two wakes in two weeks so for a better venue please see my other reviews.

Easy to book a table, great atmosphere, very spacious, friendly waiters.

Came here for the first time on Sunday for a roast. We had tried to book the Roast and Dessert deal, but the website didn't give any date options, so I booked for dinner and put notes that we wanted the deal. When we arrived, they said they didn't have us down for the roast deal. A bit disappointing, but not a massive issue. We all ordered chicken roasts, which were lovely, with a giant Yorkshire. The roast pork bites from the Nibbles menu were AMAZING. Ordered the mini dessert and a hot drink, but my espresso came out a lot earlier and the brownie that came out was absolutely tiny, so not worth it for me. Cheesecake, brownie and creme brulee also ordered and all nice. Quite loud in there, but it was a busy Sunday. They also took Blue Light Card which is nice. Would probably return again to try other menus.

The food was expensive but disappointing . The chips were what you’d expect at McDonald’s not in a restaurant the gammon loin chops were extremely salty and were not eaten . It was very busy and only had one person on the bar and two young people doing everything else. They had no knowledge of the day’s specials and had to go and find out . Obviously no customer service training had been carried out. Not once did they ask if everything was ok or say thank you. I informed them I had a £5 voucher I was sent online but was told it wasn’t showing so I gave up. Will not be going there again.

Mi pareja y yo vinimos aquí para cenar ayer y tuvimos una noche encantadora! Las dos camareras eran muy amables, proporcionaban un gran servicio y la comida era muy agradable. Cuando reservé la mesa, también les pregunté si podían sorprender a mi pareja con un mensaje de despedida en salsa de chocolate en su brownie, lo que amablemente hicieron. Hizo la experiencia realmente especial y aprecio que lo hicieran por mí. También recomendaría definitivamente la tarta de galletas de postre si tienes un diente dulce! Gracias por una velada encantadora, sin duda volveremos : )

Este es un gran pub el gerente es genial! comida perfecta y gran pub familiar, un montón de perros lindos y gran personal, no tienes que esperar mucho tiempo para la comida. también hacen grandes concursos de pub el último miércoles de cada mes❤️

Most photos are of the park which is about at least 5 minutes down the road & not joined to the pub. I believe photos & info should be made clear, you can not enjoy a drink while your kids play in this park.

Food was good, but when it come to paying I paid cash. Bill was £61 and I had given £70 cash expecting to get £9 in return. 45 mins later after bill had been paid I’m still sat there waiting for my change. In the end I had to get up and explain what had happened to a manager where they wasn’t very keen on giving me my money back. I think what had clearly happened is the young girl who took my money had obviously pocketed it in the hopes I would forget about it and leave. Unfortunately for her I remembered. Wont return again due to this reason. If you can’t pay your staff enough they will steal like in cases like this. Understandable, but rob the company not the poor customers.

Lovely cosy pub , great reastaurant section for tasty food and pub area for a nice drink. Good selection of beers and the roast was great on Sunday, I can't comment on any other dishes from the menu as never tried it. It gets pretty busy at the weekend, book yourself a table if you want to dine there.

Came in for a drink, staff a bit chaotic but overall a nice experience, very cosy and a nice overall feel and ambience. Fires weren’t going despite it being cold, but I’m sure as it goes into winter hopefully they will be. Found the drinks quite expensive - £13.50 for a single vodka and a pint.

Absolutamente nada fue demasiado problema (un par de nietos quisquillosos que querían comer de un menú diferente 😬 estaban felices también! ) El personal en la noche fue educado, amable y, chico, trabajaron duro. Todos los que se unieron a nosotros estaban muy contentos con la calidad, el tamaño de las porciones y la presentación de la comida 26 de nosotros todos con teléfonos y ninguno de nosotros tomó ninguna foto para compartir! Lovely place to stop off and have a coffee whilst enjoying a fabulous walk around the excellent park. Suitable for everyone.

4 small plates for £20 are of a very high quality...delightful infact. Barmaid is super smiley and friendly. Nice relaxed atmosphere 👌

Came for drinks and lunch. We ordered the special, Salmon Risotto, disappointing. For almost £20.00 (£18.50) the salmon was half of a tail fillet, flat and small, rather than a full size piece, hence overcooked. Also ordered a Chicken Cesar salad, which arrived with no chicken in it. Had to look for someone to advise and then wait for chicken. Again disappointing. As someone previously mentioned, portion sizes smaller. We have been coming here for a few years, but had not been for a little while and were looking forward to it. Not quite the same place anymore.

Food and service was 10 out of 10 very good.

Had a relaxing afternoon sampling the delights of the 4 for £20 snacks offer ! Perfect accompaniments to the well kept beers on offer. Receptive bar staff always on hand… Food tasted delicious and really varied. Great experience.. thanks

A lovely pub been coming for years staff are friendly. We like the 4 plates but disappointed with changes to quality and size of portions. Would have been better to increase price slightly.

Been for a wake today. I was surprised that our party didn’t have a dedicated staff member to serve the food and replenish plates, take away used plates etc. A little surprised by the bar prices eg £36 for a bottle of wine. Dodd was ok but not replenished quick enough for the number of people there. Cleanliness could be better especially in the ladies, broken toilet brush and a cracked sink only a couple of examples.

My elderly mother had a cycling accident outside The Park and she went in there for help as she had a nasty leg wound. They were AMAZING!! Both Rosie and Greg sat her down, dressed her wound and were so kind. They went above and beyond their duties to help her and I am so impressed by them. A huge thank you for your kindness and humanity. My mum was overwhelmed by all you did for her. X x

Disappointed. Cocktails were supposed to have fresh mint, but arrived without any. When asked the waiter bought in his hand two very brown sprigs and said which one do you want! When ordering a second drink it took ages to arrive. After our main course was cleared we expected to be offered the dessert menu - it never arrived and we were not offered any more drinks or hot beverages. After an hour we had to ask to pay and were provided with the card machine without even seeing the bill! Meanwhile the restaurant had cleared and the staff were chatting… it was 10 on in a Friday night. The food itself was okay although the menu limited for vegetarians, but the service was poor and I won’t be rushing back 😔

Lovely meal ahead of attending concert in the Park, great service. Word of warning - starter soup was served molten lava hot, when you have a group of 4 and only 2 have starters, it's really embarrassing when the other starter is finished and the soup is still too hot to eat. Was very nice but....

Quite busy at the time of visiting. I do like the style of the place but you have to calm down with the with the prices. 9 quid for 1 and a half strips of pork belly is hilarious.

Fantatstic Lunch. Popped in to wait while my daughter was at Gymnastics. There was a new small plated menu which looked delightful. I choose the sausage roll as the Scotch Eggs was no longer on the menu. Happy to say it is a great alternative and was delicious!

We have been twice to the Park for Sunday lunch recently and on both occasions we were very impressed by the food, service and atmosphere.

Always a lovely place to visit, sat in the gardens this time which are secluded and very well maintained. The menu is a wee bit expensive for me to eat here often and free from options constantly change as the menu is seasonal. You can get gluten free and vegan options but my Coeliac daughter has not eaten here yet. They do a lovely dairy free iced coffee too.

It was sooooooooooo posh. But they let me in!

Great Sunday Lunch. Food was good , service was very good and prompt. Plenty of people but not too busy. All in all very pleased we shall have it on our list for a return visit. Good wine, great beer, fantastic atmosphere and charming service. The Park delivers all this and more. The contemporary decor adds to the warmth of the welcome and the clean modern lines in the interior. Unpretentious gastropub fare is on offer and well prepared and the ingredients are super fresh. The flavour of the food inoffensive and the taste as expected on a pub menu. The sausage and mash was an interesting surprise with a spicy sausage instead of the usual pork banger. A great idea keeping all sauces and gravy on the side.

Stopped here after a walk in Bedford Park. Got to say the Park has a great ‘feel’ to it with a friendly ‘vibe’. Can’t fault the service, food was great and staff were really friendly. Will defo be coming here again.

One of Bedford's upmarket gastropubs, which we like to go to for lunch after a stroll in Bedford Park. Their Sunday roast is really phenomenal, their interior setting is one of the nicest in town and the staff are so friendly. They are also super accommodating of little ones and have books and games for them to play with and a kids' menu that makes them happy. Quality of the food is a cut above the rest in Bedford, highly recommend.

Had a wonderful gathering with friends a few days ago, in beautiful surroundings. We were really looked after by the staff and the food was simply delicious. Catering for a large group of over 10 people can be difficult, but we all received our correct food at the same time. Will be going again soon

We visited The Park pub for lunch and had a really enjoyable experience, the pub is beautifully decorated, clean and welcoming, the staff were really friendly and very attentive, I had the roast beef dinner as it was a Sunday and it was really tasty, the meat was tender the vegetables were cooked well the Yorkshire pudding was huge and the gravy was rich in flavour, I would definitely go again as it’s the nicest roast dinner I have had out for a very long time, i would also like to go on a week day to see what their other menu is like as we went on a Sunday it was the Sunday menu which is a little different. They also have a car park at the side of the pub so I was able to park there which is really helpful. I would recommend this pub it was delightful.

Excellent midweek lunch choosing from the set menu. Really tasty food and so happy to see another pub selling "proper" pies. I.E. pastry all round. Just need to pay attention to the toilets (my pet subject). I gave 4 stars for atmosphere because the conversatory was a bit chilly compared to the main areas of the pub.

Been twice in a month, gave us a menu, chose half chicken roast was presented with less than a quarter, when complained was told menu had change but they had'nt got round to changing them on the tables. Gave then a second chance last Saturday only to find vegetables unbeatable, broccoli mush. We eat our a great deal and this food is totally overpriced, just look at your potion sizes & price

Zoe again was terrific. Made us feel at home, made personal recommendations (all food she suggested was excellent). The service was efficient and we were made to feel valued. My only concern was the removal of the chicken pie from the menu. This was extremely tasty an alternative option for family members who did enjoy red meat. Thanks again and would highly recommend.

I attended with my family for Sunday lunch. I paid a £10 deposit per person and was asked to pre-order which is a bit of a pain but no big deal. Our table was booked for 12.30 and some of us had starters which weren’t bad but not amazing, but our mains came out at 2.10pm and there was a 10 minute gap between the first and last meal in our group to come out of the kitchen. Plus I had added a few notes to the pre-order, all of which were ignored. Mains were ok but again not amazing quality and mine was lukewarm. We had been planning to have dessert but we were fed up by then and left. I get that Sundays are busy but it was a pretty miserable experience.

Delicious Sunday lunch with very generous portions. Half portion is plenty! Staff were attentive and very pet friendly. Only downside was the long wait for desserts and coffees at the end - took over 25 mins despite 3 reminders. Half of our group gave up and left as they ran out of time. Sad end to birthday celebration

We were a party of five adults and we had a delicious Sunday lunch. The service was really good - we were waiting for desserts a bit but the waitress noticed before we had time to ask and they were brought out immediately. We will definitely come back for more.

We visited the park to celebrate our anniversary. The atmosphere was beautiful, all the staff worked hard to make us feel welcome and were lovely. We did not feel rushed and staff went out of their way to give us the best experience. We were even given a dessert board on the house to help us celebrate our special day. I would 100% recommend to everyone.

I feel a bit mean giving them a 2 star review as the food tasted nice and the service was good. However the bill was hard to swallow. My friend and I were looking at the wine list for a bottle of red wine to share but were recommended the “house wine”. To me house wine means cheap and cheerful. This wine however was £30 a bottle. Had I realised this, I definitely would not have had an extra glass after, at something like £11 a glass. Granted, we should have checked the price list more carefully but I can’t help feeling cheated and this has put me off going again in a hurry.
