I had been wanting to eat here for a few years, but the limited opening times of the former owners prevented it. Thankfully, the current owners have a different vision and are open every day to serve great food and drink. It is also good to find somewhere you can enjoy fine dining which is dog friendly. The staff are excellent and the food worthy of its fine dining status. The wine list is exceptional with some stunning top wines from around the world. Can I humbly suggest that chef Matt Hurry introduces a tasting menu option. My wife and I look forward to enjoying the great food he and the team in the kitchen deliver very soon. Thank you all for a memorable evening.

The food was brilliant, we had a varied choice, each of us choosing an item we thoroughly enjoyed. Cannot fault the food. Sadly we felt let down by the volume of a few of the staff. Not only in voice but when clearing tables, the cacophony of voice, plates and cutlery is why I can only give 3 stars. Not all the staff were loud, just 2.

Table for 4 booked for 730pm. Arrived promptly but put our order for dinner but 3 of our orders were already sold out at 730pm! My goodness, what will will eat they did not have any back ups, and our party had to make do. Come on we booked early in the weekend, and they were not full then, why had they not put extra away in case of over orderring? I do not think this restaurant will survive, come on, they were not even even full!!

Interesting and varied menu, good price, friendly helpful staff. We have small appetites, so just had a starter and dessert. Both were excellent, the dessert was light and fluffy. The pub had been recommended by a friend, so we tried it but it was so good we went back again the following day.

It's in a nice location, parking directly outside for 4 cars and ample parking 3 minutes or less away, free too. It's a 5 min walk into Long Melford and it's a really nice walk too. I stayed for two nights 15 - 17 April 2025. Its a lovely building. That's the first thing you notice. Really nice bar and great selection of drinks. I had an evening meal of: Ham hock terrine, apple chutney, pork fat croutons followed by Lamb rump, lamb shoulder hash brown, loaded hispi cabbage, jus. Breakfast was included in my booking, it wasn't a buffet - I was glad about that - all freshly cooked to order and it was delightful. They clearly make their own hash browns. My room was a 'snug'. It was well presented, nice style, clean and comfortable. I don't recommend it for a couple, it was maybe a tad too snug but great for me or good for a couple who are going to be up and out. The staff are usually friendly and helpful in hotels and this was no exception. As I left one of them asked how my stay was. I said 'just short of'... perfect'. I was there for a funeral, so unlikely to be back. If I had reason to return, this would be the place I choose.

A very poor lunch, the pastry on the steak and ale pie was so hard l couldn't cut it and the meat was very sparse. Altogether a very disappointing experience

We stopped for a light lunch and ordered a ham salad sandwich on granary a hot sausage roll and two cappuccinos. The sandwich and sausage roll came out immediately! The sandwich was obviously not freshly made as the bread was dry and crispy at the edges. The sausage roll was like warm. The meal came to just under £20. Very expensive and very disappointing.

I appreciate that Wetherspoons is a bit of a game of Russian roulette when it comes to food but tonight has most likely permanently ended my “giving them another go, because it’s quick and modestly priced”. I went with the Gourmet Sirloin in the hope there would be more about it but I was left appalled by the quality, presentation and staff attitude. The peppercorn sauce was worryingly tempt and therefore left untouched. The onion rings managed to be both cold and cardboard. Some of the chips were hot and ok others nearly warm and soggy (please God don’t let those be kitchen returns from someone else’s meal! I hadn’t thought of that until now). The steak was also merely just more than warm and the picture to accompany this review was the bit that was inedible, fat and gristle (approximately 1/5 of the steak). The remainder was of really poor quality and an unusual soft texture. When I flagged this to the young lad doing his best to clear tables his response was “I will let them know”. I gave “them” ten minutes in case they wanted to discuss this complaint and without sight of “them” gave up and left. At £13.89 including a lime and soda I do not expect a steakhouse steak but edible and some sort of courtesy when discussing the defects is surely not too much to ask.
