Disappointing Sunday lunch. All 4 of us were disappointed to be honest and my friend (who had booked it was very embarrassed). The beef was as tough as an old boot, the lamb overcooked too and not how we'd expect it to be cooked.

Visited on a Friday evening and it was very busy. We came early to take up the January offer of a main and drink for £15. We were greeted by friendly staff. Our menu choices were all excellent and beautifully presented. We did have a bit of a wait for coffees but this was due to the pub being very busy. Lovely ambience, cosy and log fire

Great shrimp burger, service and decor. Perfect for a cosy lunch by the fire. On the flip side, the web page offers lunch and a drink for £15. I was charged £36 for 2 meals then £33 when they claimed some drinks are not included in the deal. Shame they can’t just honour their offer 🙁.

We were passing through on a drive from Ipswich to Canterbury and stopped by for lunch. There was a garden party BBQ and we ordered BBQ chicken wings and dirty fries. The chicken wings were deep fried and then bbq sauce added on top which is not quite what we expected of a bbq party. There were no burgers or salads. Also, with it being a pub, we were surprised that only beer, gin and vodka was being served - no rose wine or bourbons.

Lovely location and been here for a drink a couple of times and thought we'd try it for dinner. Good service but let down by the food. Starters were OK, for main course I had pan fried cod, small portion of fish and veg was a few overcooked green beans with about 6 very small potatoes. Partner had Caesar's salad which tasted nice but was just chicken, lettuce, a little cheese and dressing. Shame as not sure we'll back for food.

Cycled to this lovely pub from Dedham for lunch. We were greeted promptly by incredibly friendly, welcoming staff. Was very impressed by the choice and prices on the menu. We ordered the Halloumi fries, whipped feta with warm honey on toasted brioche and the pea and asparagus gnocchi. Food arrived promptly. It was absolutely delicious and we were not disappointed with the portion size at all. I cook a lot at home and was very impressed by the quality and presentation of the food. We eat out quite frequently locally and can honestly say this is the best food we have had in a very long time. We will definitely be returning.

The night we went was a burger night. But there were 4 choices. I had the shrimp burger which was very good. We are wine drinkers and we’re impressed by the wine list. I also had the cheese board, which I would highly recommend. Some lovely cheese choices! There was a busy , lively atmosphere, which was also good. The night was let down by a group of males who were vaping at the table next to us, even after being asked not to!!! I have not seen this sort of behaviour for a long time, Shame.

It’s such a shame to give this pub such a low score after coming here for a while now. We visited the weekend just gone and even though the pub itself is lovely, we was not happy with the food. We ordered sweet potato and Lentil nut roasts for £12 each, and all we can say was how tasteless and off putting the plate looked. We thought we was getting the child’s dinner, it was tiny and not any good vegetables. We all came away still hungry and not satisfied. All I can say is stay away from the nut roast. Please please Lindsey rose, get it sorted.

I have visited here before but this was the first time I have eaten here. The pub was busy, it was a Friday night after all, and the atmosphere was good, what followed was a huge disappointment. We started by ordering drinks at the bar, there were six in our party, we ordered two gin and tonics, one arrived, the second arrived with gin and no tonic or ice, the person serving us then disappeared. When she came back it was to re-stock the fridge with cokes. Once we got her attention again, she completed our order but one of the beers was off so we gave it back, no apology or offer to replace until we asked another person serving behind the bar. We took our drinks to the table and some time later our order was taken. Whilst awaiting the starters we ordered some wine and water for the table. Nothing happened. The starters came and went, we asked several more times about the drinks, still nothing. When they did arrive the white wine had not been opened so they took it away again, that was the last we saw of it until we had finished our main courses. Sadly the food did not compensate for the service. The squash veloute should have been lovely, but was very salty and we had no water at this point. The beetroot gravadlax also failed to live up to its promise. Two of us had the roasted carrot gnocchi as a main course and it was truly disgusting, with the consistency of semolina and no discernible taste of carrot as all taste was drowned by over-peppering.

I ordered this dish and was presented with a tiny portion of fish on a bed of rock hard beans and sautéed potatoes. My extra portion of garlic tenderstem broccoli was also rather too crunchy even though I like my veg al dente. I reported this to the chef via his serving lady but she told me he didn’t accept my criticism and felt that the portion of fish was perfectly acceptable. The dish cost £13.50 and for a similar price I’ve had at least 2 portions of fish this size. As well as poor value this chef obviously has no regard for customer satisfaction as he didn’t bother to come and speak to us and there was no price reduction offered. As a few restaurants in the surrounding area have recently closed, I feel this will be the next if the standard of service and food I received carries on as it is.

Visited recently on weekday evening. Yes the ambience is nice, roaring fire and exposed wooden beams throughout but the food was awful. My wife had fish and chips, fish inside the batter was raw. Garlic bread was basically a dry brioche roll layered with huge amounts of salt. Even the chips weren’t homemade but heat up in the oven ones. This place is obviously a favourite by a lot of people looking at the reviews on here but we must of got the night the chef had a night off or something. The prices are also far to expensive for what you are served. Will not be returning.

My boyfriend surprised me and took me here for a Valentines Day dinner and its safe to say we were very impressed with everything the place had to offer. We were seated in a very cosy bar area with an open fire, which set the scene nicely. The choice of food on offer meant it was very difficult for us to decide what to have, but in the end we were finally able to come to a decision. We had Scallops wrapped in Ham for starters which were very good, Honey Seabass and lentils for main which again, was cooked very well and was very tasty. Lastly we had a sharer dish of chocolate fondant, crème brule, brownies and strawberries for dessert, presented exceptionally and tasted incredible. It is safe to say that all three of our dishes that night were cooked and presented to an exceptional standard. Our meals were part of a set menu which came with a very nice glass of champagne. My boyfriend ended up speaking to the chef when he went to pay for the bill who was really keen to see how we found our food and if there was anything that could be done to improve it. We had such a lovely meal, with very friendly staff and efficient service. This is a hidden jewel of a country pub in suffolk, and one no doubt we will return to in the future. I will fully recommend.

All fresh decor and furnishings to match the renewed ambience. Beautifully cooked roasts and vegetables served, all with excellent flavour. Followed by a choice of desserts, we both chose apple and cinnamon crumble topped tart. Obviously home prepared and cooked, with really ‘proper’ French patisserie style sweet crust pastry, which reminded us of some bought near Arles some years back, wonderful. For just over £16 for 2 courses, very acceptable.

What a joy to walk into a country pub at 13.50 and get a smiling “of course” when you ask if they are still serving lunch. Adnams beers, roaring fire, tastefully decorated, attentive polite staff, and the food was pretty good too. Worth a visit.

Twelve of us sat down for a family meal early this Friday evening. We had the choice of everything on the menu but were asked to ring our order through a couple of days beforehand, which we were happy to do.

This pub is a bit off the beaten track but is well worth a visit. There is a large garden area to entertain children if the weather is OK. Have eaten there three times (lunch, evening meal and Sunday lunch) and have enjoyed each meal. There is an informal atmosphere and the young staff are pleasant and friendly (unlike several south Suffolk pubs who are unbelievebly stuck up). Several friends have visited recently and all have enjoyed their visit so its not just me!

The Lindsey Rose is a cosy country pub. Beams, ope fire etc. Friendly staff. For lunch Cod & chips tasted fine but not exceptional and was nicely presented. The kale salad was disappointing and tough in places. Prices on the high side.

Was looking forward to a rare lunch out and really looking forward to eating here. The food was either, too salty, too bland or over cooked and it was stressful and disappointing. My partner enjoyed his main.

I am relatively local to the Lindsey Rose but have probably not eaten here in 10 years.

We were recommended this pub but I think it has changed hands since then. However we were not disappointed.

Back again for another visit on a hot bank holiday Monday. Nice and busy with families of people of all ages, so much so that we couldn't get a table in the garden at the rear of the pub. So, we took a bench and the team brought a table to us! Great atmosphere and the staff as usual happy and friendly. Yes, you will have to wait to be served; and yes, you will have to wait for your freshly cooked food, but it is all well worth it in our view. Today we just had the asparagus and the crab starters - lovely, and the dry hopped lager and Adnams Ghostship were spot on on a day like this. Looking forward to going back.

Having heard wonderful things about this place I booked a table for lunch today. It was so crowded you’d think that extra staff would have been brought in. After an hour a rather pitiful starter arrived and then about 20 minutes later the most dried out and burnt main courses. Clearly the staff can’t cope when it’s busy.

Another of our local ‘haunts’ the Rose requires somebody to be designated driver but it’s worth the sacrifice. Good food, great atmosphere and they keep the beer and cider well. Excellent top class country pub with food selection and quality punching above their weight.

Fast and attentive service and food. Well priced and good food. Able to accommodate large parties and changes to those on the day without any problems. Willing to modify and check menu options for dietary requirements. The staff are friendly, and the atmosphere is not too loud so you are able to have good conversations with friends.

Booking is essential. Staff are lovely. Service slow. Food very big portions. Good variety of gluten-free and other allergies options. The small bites are very large 4 pieces of garlic bread. Ploughman's freshly cut thick ham. Unfortunately, the gluten-free bread was very stale. Herb butter was really nice. Cheese was really nice Big portion of salad. The turkey sandwich fresh and full of filling.

This establishment is currently CLOSED. No sign yet of new owners: nothing but rumours! Hopefully a new venture can bring it back to what it was 20 years ago.

We have visited the Peacock a number of times over the last year and have never been disappointed. We visited on a Saturday lunchtime with family and as usual got a lovely welcome from Jack and the team. I had the mackerel, followed by a superb risotto, my husband had the quail then the Halibut. We then shared the delightful petit fours, a nice alternative to a traditional dessert. All the food was beautifully presented and incredibly tasty, I would not be surprised if the Michelin people show an interest soon as the restaurant does deserve recognition.
