The best restaurants serving British food in East of England

Second visit to the jolly Postie for a birthday party. We were looked after very well Especially by Alanis. All the staff are very kind & helpful especially with children

Went for dinner out of beef which was fine but the service was slow the foot was stale and hard not fresh and to top it off a few hours after we got home my whole family was sick including my 1 year old we have all been sick multiple times! This is the only thing we have eaten that could have made us all poorly!

CHOSE THE KINGS HEAD FOR SUNDAY LUNCH BASED ON SOME OF THE POSITIVE REVIEWS AND PICTURES PROVIDED. CAN ONLY SAY THAT WE MUST HAVE CAUGHT THEM ON A BAD DAY. TABLE FOR 6 WAS BOOKED FOR 2PM. ARRIVED AT 1.45 AND TOLD OUR TABLE WAS READY. THIS WAS ACTUALLY TWO SMALL TABLES PUSHED TOGETHER WITH 6 CHAIRS CRAMMED ROUND. ORDERED FOOD AT ABOUT 1.55 AND TOLD 40 MIN WAIT AS BUSY. NO PROBLEM AT ALL. FOOD ARRIVED AT 3.10 PM! OF THE 6 OF US 5 HAD ORDERED ROAST DINNERS: 1. PICTURES OF THE MEDIUM RARE SLICES OF BEEF WERE A LONG WAY FROM THE SLAB OF OVERCOOKED, TOUGH AND DRY MEAT THAT WAS GIVEN TO US. 2. THE ROAST PORK WAS IN FACT A PORK CHOP. THIS WAS ALSO DRY AMD OVERCOOKED (THERE'S A TREND DEVELOPING). 3. THE CHICKEN WAS A BAKED CHICKEN BREAST. THE SHOULD HAVE COME WITH STUFFING AND PIG-IN-BLANKET. BOTH WERE MISSING SO I WENT TO THE BAR TO ENQUIRE AS TO THEIR WHEREABOUTS. STAFF WERE APOLOGETIC AND WOULD CHECK WITH KITCHEN. ABOUT 5 MINS LATER THE WAITRESS INFORMED US THAT THEY HAD RUN OUT OF STUFFING BUT THAT THE PIG IN BLANKET WOULD BE OUT SOON. AFTER FINISHING OUR MEALS (AS FAR AS POSSIBLE) THE MISSING ITEMS STILL HADNT ARRIVED. WAITED ANOTHER 10 MINUTES AND DESPITE TRYING TO GET STAFF ATTENTION THEY NEVER DID SHOW UP. GAVE UP AND LEFT. OVERALL FOOD WAS POOR AND IT WAS A DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE. THEY STAFF WE SAW WERE VERY HELPFUL BUT PERHAPS THEY WERE SHORT STAFFED AS THEY WERE RUSHED OFF THEIR FEET AND PRETTY MUCH EVERYONE THERE WAS HAVING TO CHASE THEIR ORDERS. IF YOU HAVE STAFF ISSUES THEN MAKE PEOPLE AWARE AND/OR CANCEL OR POSTPONE THE BOOKING. I'D RATHER THAT THEN BE FED A LINE OF B.S. ABOUT FOOD TIMINGS THAT MEANS I WON'T VISIT AGAIN AND I ALSO FEEL COMPELLED TO LEAVE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK. IF YOU HAVE RUN OUT OF ITEMS OR INGREDIENTS THEN GET THAT COMMUNICATED...DON'T TAKE MY MONEY AND THEN FAIL TO DELIVER. AND MAKE SURE THE FOOD REFLECTS DESCRIPTIONS AND PICTURES.

Another great Olio’s restaurant from Gianni and the team. David runs the General’s Arm’s and the food and service hits the usual perfect spot we’re familiar with from Olio’s. Steak was perfect, fish was superb too and the wine suggestion from David went down a treat. We caught a cheeky drink in the garden afterwards which was really nice and spotted the BBQ was open and serving some great looking food but we had no room left after lunch. Cheers, Kev

I am from Australia, and must say the battered fish was a bit dry. Chips were great though.

We had the jacket potato with tuna mayo served with a small salad. Really enjoyed the food in this quaint ancient pub. We just had to have the apple pie and custard to finish and we were not disappointed it was superb. Highly recommend our choice in this great pub.

I was served by a lovely lady called mira ( I think ) she was lovely excellent customer service was happy chatty and very helpful I'd give her 10 out of 10 unfortunately the blonde lady who was incharge who publicly had a go at her infront of customers can't cook an egg for toffee was rock hard !! 0 out of 10 for her !

Such a shame Harvester is closing, but I’m very glad the team will be back when the place reopens as Miller & Carter. And what a brilliant team it is! Everyone welcomes us warmly and goes to great lengths to ensure we have an excellent visit. The food is always great and the service is spot on - not in your face but there’s always someone there when you need them. Really looking forward to being able to go back in May.

Decided to come out for a meal with my family and we was not disappointed food was lovely and hot had a little wait for some of it but we didn’t mind that it was made even better thanks to our lovely waitress Sarah who went above and beyond to make sure we was all ok and had everything we needed! I will say we have been a few times and even if we don’t have Sarah as our waitress she always takes the time to come and say hello and check that we’re all ok which I just think is so lovely and makes us feel so welcome We will definitely be coming back!

Great evening for our family wedding. Such great service couldn’t ask for more. Staff made it extra special and lady who helped us couldn’t have been better, sorry I’m not sure of her name. Lovely evening with our family

A fabulous spot overlooking the river. Food was good and reasonably priced. Can order at the bar or download their app. Table service. Can definitely recommend.

Only ordered hot drinks and server (Tilly) was very friendly. Took a while for drinks to be prepared. Lots of staff making drinks so no need for delay Atmosphere good
