Second visit to the jolly Postie for a birthday party. We were looked after very well Especially by Alanis. All the staff are very kind & helpful especially with children

Really delicious fresh food! Definitely a big improvement since the last time we were here a couple of years ago. Our server (Alanis) was so lovely and made great recommendations. Will definitely be back!

We had a lovely meal for my friends birthday. The manager Jason was lovely as always but our waitress Georgia was amazing, she was smiley, friendly and chatty. Definitely the best service I've received in awhile.

Five out of five. Georgia was amazing, very quick and efficient. Very entertaining, was able to cope with my allergies and needs. Wonderful service all round.

Server made our day. Grace was friendly approachable and attentive. The food was great and reasonably priced. The manageress squeezed us in and we had a great time. We are both professional entertainers from London and our server both met and exceeded our high expectations. Thank you all for an amazing experience.

Last min stop for dinner on way home from Norfolk Called ahead to ensure we could take our little dog in with us Very pleasant meal and waitress Grace was lovely Very friendly and accommodating even brought our little dog a bowl of water and some snacks. Its a very nice venue and the food is nice, service is quick and nothing is too much trouble if you want something slightly different. The waitress who served us (Imogen) was so nice, friendly and very professional. She is an asset to the Jolly Postie and any future employers. We will be back :)

Had a lovely meal for my nieces birthday last night. Food was great, didn’t have to wait long at all. The waitress Izzy was very attentive and so friendly! Made the experience even nicer. We will be back

I go there regularly but today was exceptional the young waitress who served us was so polite and went out her way to make me and my client feel welcome. Food was incredible just a lovely place to be ! Well done to the young waitress today super impressed with your 5* customer care

Love coming to the postie but unfortunately this fathers day was a disappointment! Had a table booked for mid-day and was told it was until 2 as they was going to be very busy, we was still waiting at 1.30 for our meal. Despite the efforts and great service from Grace and an explanation and apology from the assistant manager including an offer of free drinks and dessert it did sour the occasion, apparently the roast dinners are all pre prepped and because some of our order was non roast it took longer, but to wait 90 minutes is not acceptable especially when we see desserts being handed out to groups that arrived long after us. On the plus side the food was lovely when it arrived but after waiting so long our enthusiasm had diminished somewhat., despite all this we will continue with the postie but in terms of special occasions it seems like they get overwhelmed and will think twice. Maybe should be pointed out that if you have anything other than a roast it will take longer to wait .

Had to stop on our way through Royston for lunch. Stumbled across the Jolly Postman. We had our dog and he was welcomed with open arms and our server Grace was a delight.

Came a long way from witham because I heard good things about this place, arrived here to an absolutely amazing waiter called Jason who handled me and my friends with warmness, familiarity and politeness, food cost was average and nice priced, service was fast and food was unreal, jason even went above and beyond to bring our food out to us even tho they don't do outside table service, dude was an absolute legend will definitely be coming back! Thanks again Jason......(give him a raise)!

I shared a rotisserie chicken and we were so impressed with how much flavour there was in the chicken. My husband particularly loved the peri peri sauce too. Quirky decorations with a lovely atmosphere, definitely recommend it.

Decided last minute to go out for lunch with our 3 children ! We chose the jolly postie as my wife had been last week and was really impressed , I personally hadn’t been for a couple of years , but can safely say I too was very impressed Although they were fully booked inside they said we could grab a seat outside We were served promptly and the food was great ! Will definitely be back again soon and will be recommending to friends

Great family weekday treat for our family. We were greateed by our waitress (Grace) who was cheerful, helpful and pleasant. She waited patiently whilst our son explained what he wanted for his dinner and then later whilst he chose his desert. Great place to take your family for something to eat and drink

Very enjoyable catch up with my grand daughter - we try and meet up regularly and this is our favourite we almost always have Hunters Chicken and today it was even better than it usually is!

I couldn't manage a dessert as the main was so large don't managed to eat it all the gammon steak had all the trimmings, the plate was so big I had to look twice.

Came in with my friend for Sunday lunch. As a former pub cook myself, I do have high standards (my family would say I'm fussy!) Service was friendly and quick, food was really good, lovely and warm. Great atmosphere, made even nicer by the very helpful and friendly Charlotte, who looked after us. I will definitely be back. Thank you for a lovely experience. Xx

The post office theme is great and the place feels lively and cosy at the same time. We have been to the Postie many times and can honestly say that the staff have always been so friendly and helpful. We also had a lovely experience Valentine’s Day with live music, making the evening feel very special. So pleased to have this little gem in Royston. Thank you to all the Postie Team!!

We couldn't have picked a better place to celebrate my Sons 21st Birthday! There were 25 of us and everyones meals came out at the same time. Nothing was wrong or forgotten. The staff were amazing too and couldn't do enough for us. Thank you to all the Team for making this special night an amazing one. We will definitely be back!

Lovely place for families or groups of friends. The food tastes great and is good value. The atmosphere is always warm and inviting. But the best thing of all is the staff, friendly efficient service every time we visit. The manager took our wine off the bill last time because we had to wait for clean glasses when it was busy, we hadn't even noticed it was taking longer than usual. All the little things mount up to make this a local gem.

The menu had bin changed didn’t quite like most on the menu my meal was hunters chicken with melted cheese chips and coleslaw but the coleslaw was disgusting but my partner ate it to b poilte coleslaw shood b with mayo but taste like made with vinegar yuck Hubert’ chicken shood b with chips or veg not coleslaw my partner had the gammon he enjoys it no probs we had ice cream for after in a cone lovely wi to chocolate sauce saucy but nice partner had a coffee after quite small only cup saucer and we had 2 cold drinks I had pineapple juice and coke so altogether £43 not bad prices the prices no probs it wa just most on the menus so I give 9 out of 10 staff kind

Called in, it was very busy but the waitress managed to find us a table. Ordered a roast which came with a good amount of brisket but was a bit lacking in vegetables. The carrots were also a little too al dente for my liking. However it was very nice. The staff attentive and good atmosphere.

Went for a birthday treat and my free bottle of birthday bubbly. We were impressed with the new menu, the burgers were great !! Our server was Emilie who was excellent and definitely provided service with a smile 😊 👍

On way home to baldock past royston and popped in for dinner. We will definitely be back, the service was superb, Jason and Slanis were great hosts. I had the ribs and they fell off the bone my son had a detroit burger and demolished it and my partner went for the goats cheese pasta. We had a side of korean wings. All of which was superb the best meal out i have had in a very long time

Had a fantastic meal here this evening. Our meals were; ribs, goats cheese pasta and buttermilk burger and they were all delicious. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and empty plates all round. All the staff were so friendly too. Definitely will be going back!

This gem at the bottom of the road in Royston. We felt like a nice plate of fries and a good burger. We were not disappointed. The waiter was also promt and knowledgeable about the menu. Will definitely be back.

Sadly ordered Grilled Peaches with ham and salad. Sadly a bowl with salad leaves a few canned peach slices not grilled and 1 small piece of ham with salad leaves. For £14.95 a very dissatisfied customer. There were 6 of us so really disappointed.

Always a tasty and good sized meal here. We had two people with different food intolerances at the table and our waitress, Evie, made sure we were well informed and well taken care of. Plenty of gluten free options and vegetarian options. My mother-in-law's chilli intolerance was catered for easily with a couple of tweaks.

My recent visit to Jolly Postie in Royston left me absolutely delighted. Accompanied by my sister, we were captivated by the adorable and fun aesthetic of the place. What sets this place apart is the clever use of a post office van as a dining area, adding a unique touch to the experience whilst commemorating on longevity and history of the post office For our lunch, we opted for the goats cheese pizza, which was an absolute delight. The flavours were rich and satisfying, making each bite a pleasure. We also indulged in some perfectly cooked fries and a selection of beverages, rounding out our meal perfectly. The staff at Jolly Postie were friendly, checking in to see how our meal went, which I always appreciate. If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping by Jolly Postie for a meal that combines great food with a charming atmosphere.

We had the most fantastic meal tonight. The nachos were excellent, but the new dish of goats pasta was phenomenal. Tasted absolutely lovely. The service was fantasic, the waitress was brilliant. Really friendly, really knowledgeable and gave fantastic service. Gutted we didn't catch her name, but she wore glasses and long dark hair.

Waitress was excellent but the food was dreadful . We sat down at 6 pm to be told many things on menu were not available including their signature rotisserie chicken , which immediately cancelled several items off the menu. No coleslaw available ! We were a group of 14 of all ages . Two chose burgers , soooo overcooked it made you wonder how many times the burgers might have been reheated . One chose ribs which they said was good . I had fish and chips but they gave me 2 small pieces because they were out of the larger fish normally served. The batter looked crispy but was gloopy inside , so I picked off the batter to only eat the fish . The drinks were good , but we all said how disappointed we were with the food .

We visited on Sunday, 25th February for lunch, meeting up with friends as the Jolly Postie was approximately a half way point between Cambridge and Saffron Walden. We were not disappointed, our waitress, Grace, was super efficient and friendly and was not unfazed when one of our party presented her with a list of allergies to food, carefully checking with the kitchen that all was in order. The food was excellent and well presented. We will definitely be paying further visits.

My friend and I decided to go to the Jolly Postie this evening for dinner, safe to say we weren’t disappointed! We shared the crispy honey chilli chicken starter, and we had the hunters chicken and mac and cheese for our main. Lovely relaxed dining experience. Good food and well presented . Quiz night was on the night we went , gave a very friendly feel of the place. Grace our waitress was outstanding. Very kind , and understanding of our dietary needs, and checking in with the kitchen many times to confirm certain ingredients. The most delicious Biscoff waffle for dessert makes it a winner all round ! Recommend!

Just had a very nice meal with my mother, at the Jolly Postie. I had the beef burger and my mother had the chicken burger, all rounded off with a ice cream Sundie, very nice. The service was excellent, and the staff were efficient, professional, and very friendly. We needed wheelchair access, and this was no problem. with plenty of space to guide the chair around. There were alot of people there, but it felt cozy, and not overcrowded. I will be going back there!

Really quirky having a postal van to have dinner in. Best Hunters Chicken I've had out, sauce not as runny as some places. Due to now having disabilities I was helped up a couple of steps to our table. Faultless service. Breaded mushrooms & the Cottage Pie very yummy 😋

Delicious. Quick Service. My only criticisms would be that the lamb was served on a plate sized Yorkshire Pudding which was a waste as I only eat crispy yorkies, so only 1/2 around the outside was eaten and there was literally only a dessert spoonful of veg, so a little more of that would have been nice

Usually a huge fan of the jolly postie, service was great as always, with a great ambience. Riverstown is a fantastic pint and it is normally our go to for a weekday night out Unfortunately this time my burger was burnt, as you can see. Very disappointing, as tbe rest of the meal was great.

Firstly, Positives - pub is atmospheric, lovely and warm and quirky. Niamh, our server was excellent - friendly, efficient and deserved 5 stars - especially as she was faced with being the smiling face to the negatives - the food availability. 66% of our tables food choices were not available - no chicken, no fish, no pizza. It's a speciality chicken pub and there was no chicken - that's pretty poor. So great service let down by the kitchen/management.

We went as a group for a Christmas party, the food was terrible, items missing, the suffing balls were so hard you couldn't eat them, such a shame as the atmosphere is lovely, they just need to sort out the chef or training

Visited on Christmas Eve lunchtime with my family and 2 dogs and from the moment we checked in until when we left the whole experience was top notch. The food was well presented and piping hot and the waitress with the long blond hair who served us was very professional and polite( a credit to you ). Well done all at The Jolly Postie

I have been coming to the Jolly Postie ever since it opened in Royston and - bar Covid, when we even had a takeaway Chrismas lunch - I have had every Chrustnas lunch at the Postie. But I have to say that this year's Christmas lunch was absolutely spectacularly ssuperb. The food was so tasty and portions very generous. Thanks to Chef Ruben (and all in the kitchen), Chloe, Wilco, Dave, Evie, Alanis and all the waitress staff who worked so very hard to make it a wonderful experience. Highly recommend. Another lovely meal at the postie, California burger was lovely! Great selection and staff very good. Update 19/11/22: lovely meal again at the postie, busy so obviously very popular, but nevertheless great service and lovely food and drink, keep it up. Update 24/12/23: unfortunately downgraded this time, burger was a bit overdone however other meals were very good. Didn't get any sauces offered unfortunately. Wanted a pizza but not prepared to pay 4.75 for extra toppings, hopefully this is a typo on the menu

The drinks and there atmosphere fine but oh dear the food was a total let down the starter was ok but one one slice of bread with prawn cocktail and the pate the main from the Christmas menu was a disaster the carrots basically raw same as the cannon ball sprouts and broccoli not Al dente just not done and the parsnip on my meal that I asked for with not gravy came flipping me the bird they said everybody’s came like that but no other person at out table the deserts ran out of brandy cream for Christmas pudding ran out!!! Very disappointing meal overall

20 of us had out Christmas meal, pat’e starter bread not toast, main meal looked like it been cooked in one massive pot then spooned onto the plates, potatoes dry, stuffing like bullets. We ate here last Christmas & it was excellent, this year, no live music & no coffee & mince pies at the end, however the staff were excellent and friendly, to sum up no atmosphere and very poor food ,wouldn’t rush back.

Excellent restaurant. Very tasty vegan burger and other vegan dishes, including a delicious vegan dessert. Highly recommended!
