Came for a Sunday carvery. The roast beef and lamb that I was served were the end bits, dry, fatty and without flavour. I thought they would get new roasts from the kitchen rather than serve me the very last parts of both, but I was wrong. Roast potatoes were not crispy. The vegetables were nice, and the peas were cooked perfectly.

Woozzzeeerrrsss this meal was Devine. Delicious, hearty, warming to the core! The staff were exquisite. Charming and helpful. I will be returning with my chum in the following weeks, many thanks friends.

went from dinner with the family tonight and i must say we had a lovely time from the moment we got there we was met at the door by the male manager who showed us to our table and our waiters was Jenny who was lovely and the food was nice we loved the selection of meat there was and the veg was full and looked fresh. we will be coming back again soon

Miserable staff. Unhelpful and useless manager. Food ok, although not a great selection of meat or sides/veg. Gravy and sauces were not regularly topped up so scraping at the bottom of the dish to get a little out. Generally underwhelming.

The gammon was terrible just a couple of chunks of meat and the vegetables were all over cooked potatoes were stale. It was a takeaway from Uber eats and was very bad worst food I have ever had delivered. I have eaten in and food was much better should not do delivery if it's like this awful.

Our visit to the carvery was pleasant , the food was yummy and the service was great too. Portions were generous and the general areas clean.

Went for dinner out of beef which was fine but the service was slow the foot was stale and hard not fresh and to top it off a few hours after we got home my whole family was sick including my 1 year old we have all been sick multiple times! This is the only thing we have eaten that could have made us all poorly!

The food was fantastic, and the service was amazing. The chef Jake was brilliant and always smiles. Liz is also fantastic with her service and always makes time to talk with you.. Overall, I can't fault Toby in hemel Hempstead for a fantastic, friendly service.

Sometimes, during the week, you may have to wait for dishes to be topped up,which is not a bad thing as it is fresh,but this doesn't help if you are in a rush or short of time.

Where do I start? We had an impromptu visit this evening and it was horrendous. We were first greeted by a waiter who informed us the ovens were playing up so the menu was limited. Although I don't understand how the ovens could only cook certain items?? We went for 3 adult carverys (£30 odd) plus a child's one. The meat was over cooked and dry. The veg selection consisted of peas, carrots, rock hard mash, anemic potatoes, sweetcorn and pasta!? All were luke warm at best. It was totally shambolic. The only positive were the staff, who were trying their best despite the poor showing. I travel with work and have eaten in many a Toby Carvery, the Hemel one is by far the worst I've ever been to. I have spoken to quite a few people who agree with this sentiment. I really don't understand how such a simple menu can be executed so poorly. Very disappointing and certainly not worth the money. Please avoid.

Staff were polite and attentive. The food was good and the meats were very tasty and tender. The roast potatoes were actually ok as normally roast potatoes in these types of restaurants that sit under the heat lamps are often dried out and poor. The only slight negatives I can give is the cauliflower cheese that I love was not so good as they had absolutely no cheese flavour. The other issue was the fizzy drinks refill machine must have needed the flavours topping up as the cherry coke and the lime one had no taste at all. Other than that we had a good feed.

At Toby Carvery you get what you pay for, it is cheap but there are drawbacks. The portions of meat were small even the large portion was by no means large. There was a little confusion with our drinks order. There was a 20 minute wait for Yorkshire Puddings how can they run out of such an integral part of a roast meal? The roast potatoes looked attractive but were hard in the middle. The vegetables overall were good and plentiful. Service was fine, the restaurant was clean and well maintained but as ever the tables are pretty close together. Overall an OK experience.

Absolutely delicious food. I have been before several times at toby, but it was my husband's 1st, so he was a toby carvery virgin. He was so impressed, with all what he ate, from the service, selection, quality of the food, value for money & a great choice of refillable drinks.

Good value for money. Sarah J was smiling, pleasant, helpful towards us and attentive to another customer with special needs.

My friend and I treat ourselves to a huge roast every now and again. We love Toby, we both live on our own so don’t get to cook ‘with all the trimmings’ such a treat to stuff our selves silly! Our lovely server Sarah was so helpful, sorting out our pudding request. The young man carving the meat was lovely too, veg could have been a bit warmer, but not really a problem; just ate it quicker. Super little treat we both enjoyed so much. Thank you xxj

Unfortunately the carvery had obviously been sat under the lights for hours. The beef was dry and overcooked. The vegetables looked like they had survived the apocalypse! Wine glasses had lipstick marks and the attitude of the guy on the carvery was terrible! Unfortunately the duty manager was no better.

I visited this toby carvery last night and it really was a great experience. The service was amazing. Fatima was the waitress and she made sure that my experience was the best, very knowledgable and kind. The food was brilliant. I went for a good selection of meats on the carvery and every one of them was cooked to perfection. I will 100% be returning soon. Who needs a roast at home when you’ve got this place nearby.

Absolutely awful service, inexperienced and unprofessional staff, wasn't even busy! The food was terrible, Mac and cheese was tiny and dry, chicken nugget burger was laughable and the carvery was so hard and dry, you could build a brick wall with the stuffing and the Yorkshire puddings...avoid avoid avoid and it's not value for money AT ALL...go to subway next door instead! Will NOT be going back, it was a joke

We went to Toby Carvery with 50 of our Explorer scouts for a Christmas meal. All the staff were very accommodating and friendly especially Sarah our waitress.

Place is a nightmare, booked for the family and when they had all finished gossiping at the bar, were greeted and told all they have left is some roast pork as they have been busy (place was half empty). Every single time we book to go there, when we arrive there is always a problem! If you are running out of food why allow people to book and waste their time. Place is a joke and after multiple times have given up and would urge everyone else to do the same

Came for lunch today (19th Nov) after about a year and a half as we didn't have a great experience last time. Today though was lovely. 12.30 on a Sunday lunchtime and there were plenty of tables, food was all fresh and cooked well, service was fab (our server was Sarah). Very happy, polite, was there if we needed her. Great experience and we will be back!

I am vegan and this is not a lifestyle choice. There was only one vegan meal available Spinach & Mushroom Pithivier. The Pithivier was 90% pastry, 8% spinach and I was unable to find the mythical 2% mushrooms. The peas were dry and tasteless, the roast potatoes were rock hard, the red cabbage was also dry. The veggie gravy was more akin to a solid rather than a liquid and it was cold. I decided on the seasonal crumble for dessert and this was hot and tasty but it was full of sugar and far too sweet for my palate. I did enjoy a 0% alcohol beer. The total bill was £18.03 - far too expensive for what was offered. The staff were friendly and attentive but the food was awful!!!
