The best restaurants serving British food in East Midlands

Had an excellent supper in the restaurant of this charming hotel - was above expectation, taste and presentation great and made for a lovely evening I’d recommend for sure as one to visit

Mamma Mia event lovely surroundings and entertainment for the kids. Food was good quality cheesecakes absolutely exceptional. Altogether a nice chilled afternoon with music. Scoffed cheesecake way to quick to get pic lol

This ice cream restaurant has been here for years. So many flavours you won’t know which one to choose. Plenty of parking across the road, with a little play area for children as well. There are tables and chairs inside if the weather isn’t great, and it’s a lovely drive through the countryside.

We arrived at this hotel for a wedding, on arrival I found it unusual to be asked for payment upfront? We were staying in the grounds, in a block of about 20 rooms (approx) The door to the lodge was entered by security fob. It soon became clear that the door closure was worn out, as the door slammed shut every time someone came and went, including drunk golfers at 2 - 3 am in the morning???? My room was the first one inside the door the door frame was connected to the wall of my room so the slamming door was annoying!!!! Three times I reported this problem to the receptionist (when I could find one) who promised to sort it, this never happened. The shower in my room was leaking into the bath for the duration of my stay (2 nights) I reported this also but again nothing happened. A family member had an executive room paying over £100 a night more than my room, when they arrived some of the wallpaper in the room had fallen onto the floor, damp was obviously an issue? Whilst on arrival the hotel seemed rather nice it soon become clear that all was not as it seemed (hence payment taken upfront). The staff were all young and lacked guidance or training the guy at breakfast was just damn right rude, if I hadn't been at a wedding I would have left and found somewhere else immediately. This hotel requires a good maintenance man, a full time receptionist as well as a manager. The other noticeable point was the reception, which was in a small office. The reception door spent more time locked than it did open. Even on the morning of leaving, the reception was locked, when I went to leave and discuss my complaint with someone, six sets of room keys were just left lying on the floor outside. When we tried to book our rooms the phone was never answered, the same with emails, now we know why, lack of staff. Nevertheless the experience of the Dower House Hotel, Woodhall Spa is over and I won't be returning.

El más pequeño, y me refiero a la porción más pequeña de pescado que he visto en una comida para llevar, sin excepción. Ni siquiera hubiera sido suficiente para mis 7 años. Las patatas fritas estaban bien. Sabor promedio. Definitivamente no molestará de nuevo.

Went with friends , we were all so dissapointed , the food was cold , only one veg which was cauliflower which I don't like , all I had was 2 tiny slices of pork and roast potatoes , I was still hungry when id finished so were my friends so we went off to another place for a hot pudding , never again , disgusting food

En primer lugar, el nuevo salón de comidas. Por favor, por favor, ¿quién soñó que necesita un dulce olor a chocolate impregnando todo el salón de comidas y más allá en la tienda principal? También sienta pena por el pobre personal que tiene que soportar todo su turno en la caja. No puedo ver ninguna razón para esto. Ciertamente no es para mi beneficio, preferiría que estuvieran sentados. Prefiero tomar un café en la cafetería de abajo. Todo el personal es amable y trabaja duro.

Rather disappointed by the service, unhelpful and rude. Bacon was dry and had been cooked sometime earlier. Did not help the front staff being downright rude. Shall not be in any hurry to use them again.

Went this evening 10th June 23, we have friends coming over next week and was looking for places to visit with them. What an absolute s**t hole The beer tasted like vinegar, children in the bar, no evidence of food being served. The place was utterly filthy cobwebs stained brown they were that old. We should have taken heed before we went in, we commented on all the dead hanging baskets. Didn’t finish our drinks, husband left his because it was so bad. Avoid at all costs, I don’t understand why so many good reviews it’s awful, in fairness we didn’t sample the food. Woman behind the bar was pleasant enough.

My daughter went in for 1 lot of chips with her bank card while I waited outside, they charged he £7 for a cone of chips , when I went in to ask them about the price they charged her they just chucked the money on the counter with not one word ! Not even an apology! The manager couldn't even speak to apologise either and was stood next to the girl who has no voice ! It's not how you run a business How many kids do they do this to ! You can't see the price on the card machine as its behind the screen facing them . Very rude staff , I will not be returning

We had a fantastic experience at The Olive Branch. The staff were incredibly friendly and efficient, going out of their way to accommodate us when we unexpectedly overran our time. The Stretton hogget tartare was full of flavour, and the roast pork for the Sunday roast was absolutely faultless — cooked to perfection, tender, and beautifully presented. A real treat from start to finish. Highly recommended for both the quality of the food and the warmth of the hospitality.

Great staff, brilliant service. One of the biggest collections of Irish Pot Still whiskey.

Excellent pub restaurant in a country house with plenty of parking and a lake in the grounds. Carvery is excellent and good value for money. Well worth a visit :-)
