Went in there at a busy lunchtime. No tables available for 30 mins. Staff seemed very disorganized, with everyone running here and there. Customers were supposed to wait at the door until called, but this was was abandoned by the staff. We eventually got a table and were given a menu. Waitress said she would give us a few minutes to decide what we wanted, but never came back for 15 mins. She informed us the hot meals would be subject to a 40 min delay, so we ordered scones. A few moments later a waiter arrived and requested we paid for what we had ordered, but still no food. After another 20 minutes they told us they had no fruit scones but we could have plain ones. Fine. Another 10 minutes before said scones arrived. Mine was almost burnt around the edges and very hard. In all, this meal took 75mins from start to finish.

I regularly eat at the Refectory, the hot food is lovely. However, I recently went to the refectory at 2: 30-2:45 to grab something hot to eat (after reading online that they are open till 5:30 and '...Refectory Kitchen, where you can find delicious hot food throughout the day – from full English breakfasts in the morning to freshly cooked main meals in the afternoon'. (Taken from the Bishop Grosseteste Website). When I arrived, the refectory hot service table had food on it, however the lights were not on, I asked a woman behind the counter if they were still serving food, to which she replied no. I looked at the Starbucks counter to see there was only a few paninis left to purchase and decided I wouldn't bother. The refectory is usually one of my favourite spots to each, however, after this I don't know if I can trust the information on the website.

Stayed at Longdales House in the University grounds, and the breakfast was served at the refectory, really good service, and good quality food. It must be good the local Police seem to use it for there own breakfast service. would recommend using it if staying at Longdales.

I ate breakfast here while staying at Longdales House B&B and was very impressed. It is a modern building that caters for the University staff and students as well as the B&B. It was modern and well decorated with mainly long wooden tables. There was a good choice of food including a choice of cereals, yoghurt and hot food. I was pleased to see they had veggie sausages which were served away from the meat options, as well as hash browns, tomato (halved & tinned), beans, mushrooms, fried egg, bacon, black pudding & sausages. The portions were good and toast was cooked to order. There was a choice of different teas, coffee as well as other hot or cold drinks. A great way to start the day!

Food is lovely but highly priced. The restaurant interior is very modern and nice but the place is a mess. Plates all over on every table and rubbish on the floor. I come here every Saturday due to my son at drama here and its always the same. A little off putting.

The cafe is spacious, plenty of tables and seating. Staff are lovely, but on our visit I think they may have been understaffed? There was empty plates, cups, rubbish on every table. The counter was sticky, I'm sure the till staff could have ran a cloth over it in between serving customers. I only had a coffee, I wouldn't want to eat there.

Our daughter studies at Bishop Grosseteste University. Although this restaurant is on the campus it is open to the general public. We have had several Sunday lunches when visiting and the meals have been lovely. Not only do you have a great choice of meats, vegetables etc for the main course, but also a great variety of desserts. Great value for money which is perfect for students! We have also on several occasions come for coffee and cake and these have been equally good. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Although the restaurant is a bit 'canteen' like in layout this should not put you off trying out this little gem.

Visited for breakfast and lunch on a couple of days. The food was hot, well presented and a great choice. Just what we needed at breakfast time, and really good soup at lunchtime. Very friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. A very good venue in uphill Lincoln.

Canteen style with two service areas one serving hot meals breakfast till 11 am then lunch from 12 noon. The seating is in long table or more casual but uncomfortable seating areas (near door so can be drafts). Air conditioned so on a hot day it is nice. There is no background music so things can get noisy especially at busy periods. The design is obviously for students on campus, gym members and visitors to the campus. So if you visit during term time expect parking to be difficult. We had a lovely breakfast and cups of tea although they had to be purchased at different counters! Very pleasant

The Refectory is on the campus of Bishop Grosseteste University, where our daughter is studying, so we met her here for Sunday lunch. It was a really nice lunch, meat and veg etc, tasty, warming and filling. Glad that there is somewhere close where she can get a decent meal, and we are looking forward to eating there again.

My partner and I wanted a night out but not at the rip off prices of local restaurants for Valentine's Day. The Refectory, which is quite large, had been sectioned off with the tables laid specifically for the Day, each with a rose. We had a really good meal with wine and felt, as this was the first time this had been tried (I think) they did very well for a great price with very pleasant staff..I hope they do it next year and advertise it a little more!

We had breakfast here while staying in the guest house on campus during the Christmas market. Brilliant selection of hot and cold food and snacks. Our breakfast was included in the cost of the accommodation but the prices are more than reasonable - cooked breakfasts from £3/4! Coffee was nice too and there was a good selection of juices and soft drinks etc. Seating is plentiful, modern and comfortable and the staff were really nice, we were told we could have as much tea/coffee and toast as we wanted too!

Poor service, order was not taken until we had been sat for 1hr 30. When food was served, potatoes and veg were cold except where gravy was poured. Starter was not as ordered. Altogether a great disappointment for a Fathers day meal.

Went to the Fox with 5 friends (couples). This pub is close to home however we dont tend to go in there often. The night started well, drinks were flowing and we were having a good time. We overheard one of the bar staff asking for illegal substances, one of the group made a passing comment, and another lady (presumably the owners wife) stormed upto the table stating she'd be "watching us like a hawk". We calmly explained that we thought she was directing her hawk like vision at the wrong group and maybe she should assemble her nest a tad closer to home... She was clearly and unfortunately intoxicated herself (professional for working behind a bar, I know) and demanded that we must leave after our next drink. Despite working behind the bar, she was outside drinking and smoking most the night, one of the group asked her friends for a lighter, to which her and her group said "do not answer"- as if we werent human or present. We are local people and felt personally attacked by the lady's mannerisms . Especially baring in mind she was a senior member of staff (owners wife!) We put plenty of hard earned money in the pub tonight and were left feeling like criminals, we even volunteered to be searched to prove our innocence, which was promptly refused. All we wanted was a few nice drinks at our local pub for a change and were left feeling like outsiders by individuals (staff) who are clearly incapacitated and incapable of deciphering between drug users and young working class persons trying to enjoy a drink. At the end of the night I went to talk to the actual owner about how we'd been treated, expecting some clarity and lord forgive me for asking but perhaps an apology. Baring in mind this man is supposed to own several pubs, he seemed to have absolutely nil sense of customer service and even though he wasnt in the pub most of the night night was talking to me like I was in the wrong, solely due to his intoxicated wife (staff member) giving him an extremely one sided version of events - which were totally incorrect. One of our group didn't appreciate the way he spoke to me, and was rude back - as anyone with a backbone would be after the way we were treated tonight. He raised his voice and declared us all barred, despite me talking to him politely and calmly, all he was worried about was that he'd had a long drive, not that us as a group have lives, problems, and jobs too. Its unfortunate that a pub in such a good location treats its local punters so poorly after spending a small fortune in their unkept pub. Other than us, there were two people in the pub - I now understand why. I appreciate there are two sides to every story, however other bar staff have since said we were treated unfairly and that the owner and wife were extremely rude to us as a group. Its disgusting and people like this should not be running a pub. Until new ownership is found we wouldn't dream of returning even if the man (who'd through no fault of ours had a long drive) thought with a level head for a second and decided to unbar us. We are young couples who felt discriminated against through totally poor judgement tonight and what was supposed to be a great night out with friends for a change has been morphed into a poor display of total incompetence by its own owners. This pub is always closing down/re-opening and with owners as such it would come as no suprise to happen again. Hope new ownership comes and we can make the Fox a proper local.

Amazing food. I was very very pleased with my visit. I was served by a woman called Emma with blonde shoulder length hair and glasses. She was so lovely and welcoming! Gave me exactly what I wanted unlike last time when I was served by Sharon who I found to be quite rude. There was a good selection of food that was reasonably priced. I’m very happy with this service. Thank you. Also love your cream cake!
