Amazing food. I was very very pleased with my visit. I was served by a woman called Emma with blonde shoulder length hair and glasses. She was so lovely and welcoming! Gave me exactly what I wanted unlike last time when I was served by Sharon who I found to be quite rude. There was a good selection of food that was reasonably priced. I’m very happy with this service. Thank you. Also love your cream cake!

Stumbled across the Cathedral refectory on our walkabout of Lincoln. A small but warm place with enough variety of food and drink at a reasonable price. You can sit outside on the grass(next to some graves) or at the side so you have a choice. The staff are very pleasant and a good place to refuel.

I had the dish of the day quiche and salad but my wife that only had a sausage sandwich was charged the same price as my full lunch just because she asked to have a little salad with her sandwich. Inside was dark so we sat outside on the benches. The staff weren't particularly helpful.

I do wish TripAdvisor offered a "good" rating. I was torn between giving 3 and 4 stars. This place is not well advertised and has the curious air of feeling like the "works canteen" for the cathedral staff, many of whom were indeed dining in.I had steak pie, new potatoes and veg which reminded me of when I used to work in a hospital and ate in the staff canteen. That's not intended as a criticism, but if you are looking for "finesse" you'll be disappointed. (My dad, who doesn't like his food too messed about, would have been in seventh heaven.) The girl serving was very nice, and generous with the accompaniments. Given that we ended up paying about £12 for two hot meals and two drinks I'm certainly not complaining, and I would probably try Cloisters again for mid-afternoon tea and cakes. I'd probably only go back for lunch if I was in a hurry. I liked the fact that all profits go to the cathedral's mission.

We visited here twice whilst in Lincoln on holiday, so it must have been good! The first time we ordered 3 cakes for the three of us (two huge cream cakes and a lavender and honey cake), plus a pot of tea, coffee and soft drink. The second time we shared a cake along with the drinks. We found the prices to be good along with the choice of options. You can eat inside or outside here, though I guess tables will be a bit limited at busy times as this place is quite popular.

Not well signposted, the main entrance to the cathedral cafe is on the opposite of the cathedral opposite to the castle so is off the tourist route and the little wooden door is so easy to walk past and miss.Once inside it appears a small, dark coffee shop but go out the little side door on the left you get to sit in a lovely setting of peace and quiet (except when the bell tolls but this adds to the atmosphere). Great selection of tasty hot and cold foods and good prices and even better knowing they contribute towards cathedral upkeep.

When exploring a cathedral it is always good to find a source of sustenance! I enter this café from the outside after enjoying the flying buttresses of the Chapter House, and Tennyson! I always try to get here as early as possible for a better choice of cakes, pastries and snacks, and you generally find it is a little more tranquil. There are so many excellent eating places to choose from in Lincoln, but if you want a quick inexpensive meal we can recommend the Cloister Refectory. The food is served cafeteria-style, and one can either have a snack, soup or a full meal. Some bottled local ales are available, as well as white or red wine in small bottles. There is an indoor dining area, but one can also sit outdoors or inside the cloisters. There is always vegetarian food available. We liked the cloister area best – spacious and quiet.

My friend is gluten free and they had made her 2 hot gluten free rolls to go with her soup. Meanwhile 2 of us had the burger and I have to say this is definitely the best burger I have tasted in a long time, meaty, thick and juicy with fresh salad that was more than lettuce and tomato, a chunky slaw and wedge chips all nicely presented, delicious! My husband said his Croque Monsieur was very good too. All this was made even better by a selection of beers and wines to go with the meal. A very pleasant and filling lunch

Went to the Fox with 5 friends (couples). This pub is close to home however we dont tend to go in there often. The night started well, drinks were flowing and we were having a good time. We overheard one of the bar staff asking for illegal substances, one of the group made a passing comment, and another lady (presumably the owners wife) stormed upto the table stating she'd be "watching us like a hawk". We calmly explained that we thought she was directing her hawk like vision at the wrong group and maybe she should assemble her nest a tad closer to home... She was clearly and unfortunately intoxicated herself (professional for working behind a bar, I know) and demanded that we must leave after our next drink. Despite working behind the bar, she was outside drinking and smoking most the night, one of the group asked her friends for a lighter, to which her and her group said "do not answer"- as if we werent human or present. We are local people and felt personally attacked by the lady's mannerisms . Especially baring in mind she was a senior member of staff (owners wife!) We put plenty of hard earned money in the pub tonight and were left feeling like criminals, we even volunteered to be searched to prove our innocence, which was promptly refused. All we wanted was a few nice drinks at our local pub for a change and were left feeling like outsiders by individuals (staff) who are clearly incapacitated and incapable of deciphering between drug users and young working class persons trying to enjoy a drink. At the end of the night I went to talk to the actual owner about how we'd been treated, expecting some clarity and lord forgive me for asking but perhaps an apology. Baring in mind this man is supposed to own several pubs, he seemed to have absolutely nil sense of customer service and even though he wasnt in the pub most of the night night was talking to me like I was in the wrong, solely due to his intoxicated wife (staff member) giving him an extremely one sided version of events - which were totally incorrect. One of our group didn't appreciate the way he spoke to me, and was rude back - as anyone with a backbone would be after the way we were treated tonight. He raised his voice and declared us all barred, despite me talking to him politely and calmly, all he was worried about was that he'd had a long drive, not that us as a group have lives, problems, and jobs too. Its unfortunate that a pub in such a good location treats its local punters so poorly after spending a small fortune in their unkept pub. Other than us, there were two people in the pub - I now understand why. I appreciate there are two sides to every story, however other bar staff have since said we were treated unfairly and that the owner and wife were extremely rude to us as a group. Its disgusting and people like this should not be running a pub. Until new ownership is found we wouldn't dream of returning even if the man (who'd through no fault of ours had a long drive) thought with a level head for a second and decided to unbar us. We are young couples who felt discriminated against through totally poor judgement tonight and what was supposed to be a great night out with friends for a change has been morphed into a poor display of total incompetence by its own owners. This pub is always closing down/re-opening and with owners as such it would come as no suprise to happen again. Hope new ownership comes and we can make the Fox a proper local.
