Lovely and quirky canal side venue with a great selection of drinks and huge outdoor area, my last 2 reviews of other places have been damning of the cleanliness of the venues so it is only fair to say this time how immaculately clean it is here, very refreshing to see spotlessly clean toilets especially with how busy it gets. Didn't have any food but will definitely be back to try some.

Food was good, huge variety of beers, and the alcohol free stuff was really nice. A really cool building with a great atmosphere and friendly staff.

Brilliant place, as you walk in you can go over a little bridge where a canal boats is. Lots of seating good friendly staff. Wait time at bar was 6mins. Seating area is nice and comfy with good views 👌

Great quirky pub wonderful service

One of the unique pubs I’ve been to and it has a lot of space. With the canal in built to the venue, it adds up a pleasant vibe. Also, a great selection of beers and the staff is friendly. Ideal to bar hop as there are a few other pubs close by.

I highly recommend this place! I went there with my dog, who is a Belgian Malinoa. The staff and customers are really friendly. Also, foods are so delicious. If you want to take your dog, you should go there.

What a lovely place, it has everything food, great service and atmosphere. Very friendly and a great setting, even on match day.

Great range of ales: local, national and international. Cozy feeling indoors on an early spring afternoon. Crowd seem welcoming.

The chicken burger and chips were pretty disappointing, quite dry and not very flavourful. Bar staff were attentive, friendly and really informative with regard to the beers on offer.

Popped in on the way back home waiting for a train. The selection of craft beers is great, but a bit pricey. The atmosphere is good, with loads of sitting space inside and out. Great service! Can be very busy at times

Always enjoy our visits here. Great selection of beers and food. It’s a popular spot so gets busy but the staff are efficient so you don’t have to wait long.

Didn’t eat so can’t comment on that but it was a lovely setting by the canal, likely an old wharf/warehouse related to the canal. Staff were friendly and efficient at clearing glasses. We enjoyed ourselves.

Never been in a pub that had a bridge over to the bar and a canal boat in it really nice atmosphere we didn't eat here so cannot comment but will do next time highly recommend

Just popped in for a drink before my train arrived, seemed an interesting place with a good choice of real ales.

Arrived at canal house after reserving a table for Valentine’s Day, our first time visiting. Lovely place and atmosphere, however, paid £16 for a steak, medium rare; it came medium/well and was basically burnt on the outside, every mouthful was like eating coal. Not only that, it was so cold in the building (which I can understand why) but being placed right next to the doors, my dinner went cold. Staff service wasn’t too bad at the bar, but having issues with my meal& not being asked or spoken to when collecting our plates was the reason I’m writing this review. Very disappointed, especially for the price paid

Great place , good vibe and interesting decor. Food a bit hit and miss, steak filly cheese sandwich out of this world, chips a bit hard and refried in places, peas abysmal. No excuse for cheap frozen peas on a 12 pound meal.

If you've never seen a pub with a canal running through it and a barge on the water, then wait no longer. Quirky (given that canal/barge combo) but a fantastic place too.

A great Castle Rock pub. Where others on the canal fail, the Canal House thrives, serving good food, good beer and good service.

Here for Sunday night comedy great show from Hayley Ellis thoroughly enjoyed it. Nice venue for pre show drinks friendly staff, reasonable prices Back again for 3 shows of the Nottingham comedy festival. Lovely venue and atmosphere for a great evening of entertainment. Will be back Thursday for moe.

Bonita ubicación justo al lado del canal y a 2 minutos de la estación de tren principal. Muy acogedor lugar agradable, gran zona de estar. Buen servicio incluso cuando están muy ocupados. Asientos al aire libre. Me encanta la idea de una novia dentro del pub con luces de ensueño. Tenían una gran variedad de cerveza artesanal, cervezas, sidras y vino, así como bebidas sin alcohol. Tomé un par de copas y disfruté de mi comida antes de tomar un tren.

Unique, 19th century canal dock building repurposed as a pub with function room for hire and spacious outside, glass-roofed deck. Sit here, drink, eat whilst watching canal water traffic gliding serenely by. Good food menu with daily specials and a wide choice of drinks too. Well worth the effort to seek out the Canalhouse!

There's a canal going through the middle of the pub! Really atmospheric and unusual (complete with barge) It's a castle rock pub so expect local brews. Food menu is small but well executed (we had the spicy shrimp pull boy, gammon with added pineapple and a perfectly cooked rare steak) Both entrance and loos are up lits of stairs so no good for anyone with mobility issues and we didn't see any alternatives. Upstairs has a private function room too. Friendly staff, would come again

Lovely place, great character, and a great history, but bloody hell, the gents toilets are very poor. The smell absolutely hits you when you walk in of stale urine. Needs some better cleaning with disinfectant! Worst toliets I've ever visited anywhere. I've been in better portaloo's.

A unique pub in a great location. There aren't many pubs that can say they have part of a canal and a canal boat inside. Quite unique feature, even though it was a bit untidy in the water. The food was excellent. A good choice of meals and light lunches and really good quality with generous portions. A nice outside area with lots of seating and good canal views.

Really enjoyed coming here. This pub is unique with a boat and canal inside. It is situated not far from the train station so great for a drink before catching a train. It is a spacious pub inside and out. Garden back onto the river which is pleasant. The bar had a huge range of beers from Europe. Didn't eat here though just drinks. Staff were friendly and happy to serve us.

Discriminatory pub with selective action on the law. From other reviews staff are clearly lacking a clear understanding of the law. Do better and don’t be so defensive. Went to the bar with a friend and she was ordering an alcoholic drink. I did not at any point ask to order a drink, I simply asked for a menu. I was told I needed to provide ID before my friend could order a drink, as it was policy and that my friend could potentially be doing a ‘proxy buy’. I complied and brought my ID. I came back to find that another waitress was serving my friend and providing her with an alcoholic drink. I questioned this action, as if you challenge someone to provide ID, you don’t then provide those said people with alcohol without confirming that they are all of age (that is the law). When I questioned this they replied with oh well my colleague is doing ‘separate service’ I don’t have anything to do with that. But if this was a so called ‘proxy buy’ like they said, what was to stop my friend in that moment still buying alcohol for me. Your duty under the law and as service providers is to notify all colleagues that you have challenged said people and they are not to be served alcohol until all parties show ID. You were wrong, working against the law and out of order. Furthermore challenging me for a drink when I haven’t even ordered anything is strange behaviour but not challenging any of the other people in the work group.

Nice busy pub on the outskirts of the city centre, large choice of craft ales and cider. Service takes a while but this down to the sheer volume of customers (on my visit at least). Only negative is it's tad on the expensive side. Would visit again though.

Smart, modern open plan city centre pub.

Staff were pretty unfriendly and the food was very average. I had a plain burger which was plain… it’s a nice location on the water and the canal comes into the restaurant.
