The Ned Ludd in Nottingham

Nice "proper" pub. Only had a drink, but it seemed a nice place. Not too expensive albeit quite close to Market Square

Very rude and arrogant staff.. Went on a Sunday night for a quiet drink with a friend..it was not busy apart from some regulars who were sat near the bar and well engaged with the bar staff..I asked the bartender if they would welcome some feedback on the loudness of music..it was far too load you couldn't hear yourself talking.. The bartender was not interested at all , instead she went to the table next to the bar she was repeating what I said to the table..there was about 8 people.. They started laughing and suggested I went elsewhere..actually the manager to me to go elsewhere and maybe listen to Opera instead. I told them the staff were very unprofessional and at that point the manager told me not to talk to the members of staff about being unprofessional..at that point the whole crowd near the bar managers clearly the bar managers friends were trying to make a mockery of me .My friend who has recently.been diagnosed with a brian tumour was most upset and so was I. With over 45 years experience in the hospitality trade I have never seen a place which has staff so arrogant and disrespectful.. Whilst I was I there I also noticed the place was filthy ..run down and the toilets were very unhygienic.. Not surprising as all the bartenders were seen upon spending more time with the crowd near the bar instead of checking and ensuring the premises and its surroundings are fit for purpose. I would strongly NOT recommend this place for a social drink.. I will also be notifying the Hygiene Agency and the Licensed Authorities about certain Privacy Policies.

Food, service & atmosphere I have no complaints with; but I visited with 4 friends on a festive night out (Dec 30) for some quality beers, and despite having 16 hand pumps, not one was a bitter / dark ale. (Included in the 16 were Guinness and a stout, both of which were off - and would have been my next choice.) The other 14 were: 6 x lager 4 x IPA 2 x cider 2 x white / wheat beer. What is wrong with so many city pubs now? Surely people want a decent bitter instead of a choice of 6 lagers?? We’d just been to the Roundhouse which is a great venue, they had 3 pumps off, all of which were real ale / bitter (Timothy Taylor’s was one I think?) - doesn’t this, and the Guinness & stout both off in the Ned Ludd, tell you what people favour?? Ned Ludd is a historical local-ish character associated with resistance to change; so please don’t change our traditional beers!!! I won’t be visiting again, but if you like lager, go for it.

The pub in itself is lovely until you walk through the door to the toilets. Seeing this atrocity the pub should be shut down. No door on the no2 toilet and no toilet seat Disgraceful. Shut the place down now H & S.

Nice relaxing atmosphere for a quick stop for a cold one. Staff are helpful, Friendly and had a laugh which always makes you feel welcome. Only stayed for the one but good location while waiting for my son doing his driving theory test. Thank you 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I've never been in this bar before, but it was really busy and vibrant. The fact they can "open up" the side of the pub to join with its outdoor seating gives it an open, European feel to it....and and the drinks and staff were great too!!

Bueno, entró, fue al baño, se sentó, revisó el menú. 2 camareros yendo aquí y allá me vieron varias veces. Bajar el menú y estaba listo para ordenar. Esperaron... los camareros vinieron, se fueron a un rincón y charlaron, sin molestarse en venir a preguntar... esperaron de nuevo. ¡Se hartó y se fue! Mal servicio!

El personal era agradable. El bar en sí era decente, tenía un menú de aspecto razonable y no era estúpidamente caro. Pero necesitaba usar las instalaciones mientras estaba allí y los baños no tenían puertas o incluso una puerta de entrada. Fue una experiencia desagradable.

Lots of beers and ales to choose from, some you will not find anywhere else in Nottingham!

Durante nuestra visita de 2 días a Nottingham recientemente nos topamos con este pub del centro de la ciudad para almorzar. El personal era muy amable y acogedor y Cian se tomó el tiempo para tener una charla encantadora con nosotros. Hay un montón de asientos y la comida es fabulosa y tan buena relación calidad-precio. Fuimos a tomar 3 tapas deliciosas que nos dejaron con ganas de más, tanto que volvimos a visitar para almorzar al día siguiente. Esta vez me tomé el más maravilloso sándwich de bistec y queso azul con papas fritas cortadas a mano (¿con qué frecuencia las ves en estos días? ) y una deliciosa ensalada aderezada junto. Fue tan, tan sabroso e increíble valor. No puedo calificar este lugar lo suficiente. Si tienes la oportunidad te recomiendo encarecidamente que les hagas una visita.

Some good outside seating, classic choice on tap. Two smaller screens.. mixed seating high chairs and low tables

They didn't have a bitter on. Apart from that was good.

I am in a photography group of about 30, for people with mental health challenges. We have a photography gallery up in Sobar. Six of us went to Ned Ludd today and one of our members went in and asked for the cheapest beer they do. They have difficulties with cognitive disabilities and because of this the manager accused them of being drunk and wouldn't serve him. The security staff were rude and derogatory to some of our members when we questioned why they were descrimating against people with disabilities. The refused to serve us all so we went elsewhere and will do every week from now on. Its a shame because the food is really good and the beer is too but we will not be subjected to discrimination and abuse.

Excellent pint of Guinness. Friendly and helpful staff. Tasty food and great city location. Really enjoyed our visit.

Had Sunday dinner there the pork was dry the lambs shank was tough should fall apart but the veg was lovely dud get plenty

Pint of lager tasted like vomit. As I said, looking through the comments reveals similar comments problem. So weird and off putting. Edit to reply to comment: Bewildering reply, I don't know why you're attacking me (although I now realise attacking customers is common looking through reviews). Maybe you need to change your glass washer or look at your line cleaner, as it seems a recurring issue, rather than getting angry at customers who bring up issues needing rectified.

Always love it here. Staff are great, happy and enthusiastic. AMAZING beer and spirit selection and reasonably priced too! The food is incredible! Always love the atmosphere in here, and the love acts they have on are top notch!

popped in with family for food (5 of us) were not disappointed, steaks are done to perfection, home made chips to die for, toasted sandwiches amazing, no leftovers here. compliments to the chef. great bar staff, well mannered and attentive, highly recommend if you are in nottingham.

Alright pub. Service is good and good selection of drinks. Love the strawberry beer. Music is a bit loud for my taste and toilets weren't the cleanest. However, still enjoyed the visit.

This is purely for the food. I was told about trying the Nottingham Pie and I wasn't disappointed. AMAZING 🤩. The only thing that let my meal down was my knife wasn't sharp enough lol.

Nicely decorated inside. Loads of photos on the walls. Guinness was top class. Descent sized room. Music being piped through which was low and enjoyable. Visited here with friends. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great visit.

Nice pub but reviewing poorly due to their sheer lack of regard for disabled access and health and safety. Fire escape route blocked by chairs as well as access to disabled toilet being blocked by said chairs. Fire extinguisher being used to prop open a fire door which should be closed at all times. HSE would have a field day. Can't comment on food but drinks were decent enough and a selection of board games to play *** Visited again a month later, low and behold the chairs were there again, blocking access to the toilet. What's your excuse this time?

Great atmosphere, great selection of Gin and Rum. Also a good selection of Beer, Lager and Cider. Overall a great experience. Only drank, didn't eat. There was quite a varied range of music being played which we didn't mind. 👍

Bunch of goths running the bar, playing hardcore metal rock music in an "irish bar/pub". The ginger one couldnt even look me in the eye and the wannabe viking didnt give a toss.

Well what a hidden gem was included in a party to one of the upper function rooms approx 35 /40 guys having our twice yearly Christmas dinner the venue the staff and a five course Christmas dinner Gordon Ramsey would of been proud off …..five stars all the way…..everything was cooked to perfection and the portion size was ample ……smiles all around thanks guys we will defiantly be booking again 10/10

Booked in yesterday for a family Birthday meal for Sunday Lunch. Out of our 7 dinners that came out 3 of them were stone cold!The young waitress(who was very polite and apologetic)took them away to be warmed up.By the time they came back the other 4 had almost finished theirs.We were offered a free round of drinks and the manager said we did not have to pay for the 3 dinners.Although it was a nice gesture it took the shine off things because the food was absolutely fantastic and we would've all liked to eat at the same time.Not sure if we will be returning after this experience but like I've stated the food was incredible and the waitress was very kind and helpful.

One of those situations where it would be nice to get a refund and just leave. Staff nice enough to change my steak, but the taste of burnt was overpowering. 45 minutes to get our food out. The Mac and cheese was a sloppy mushy powdery liquid nightmare. You could make a smaller portion with better and real ingredients, you could clean the grill before cooking on it, you should tell that takes 30 minutes for a pie. Maybe nice to go for a beer.

Brought a group of friends here to watch the rugby recently. Everyone loved the pub Extremely friendly and efficient service by Jordan and his team. Back in today for food. I had the ribeye steak, with amazing chips and a perfect home made peppercorn sauce. Fantastic food and great portions. Having the best Guineas to follow. My friend had the fish and chips. Huge portion. Extreme good quality. Jordan is very friendly , warm and welcoming. The perfect host. Will absolutely be back and will be recommending to friends and family. Mark

What an establishment! Warm, friendly environment and the food…woah, where do I start? On the recommendation of Jordan (who by the way, gave me and my friend top class service with his huge beaming smile) I had fish and chips - it was huge! Batter was incredibly crispy, and the homemade ‘granny’ chips (because they are literally like the chips your gran would have made you) were divine. Everything cooked to absolute perfection. Worth every penny. If I could give this more than 5 stars I would. Thankyou for your time, enthusiasm and kindness Jordan, a true asset to this pub and I’m sure your efforts have not gone unnoticed by your seniors. Thankyou!

Popped in for a quick pint and ended up buying the majority of the specials menu. Spoke to the staff and they tell me , they have a new specials menu every week , was very good and very good value for money

Had a Sunday lunch and can honestly say it’s one of the best I’ve ever had. Confit carrots and lamb shanks :)

One empty Octomore is disappointing. Four empty Octomores is a tragedy! Do buy a full one or don’t have them on show behind the bar.

Nice place for a pint in the sun on a warm day

There were 4 of us but we all had mixed experiences. My lager I noticed straight away it wasn't right and they changed it ,my friend sat down tastes his and realised that it wasn't good so had to change his. The food was okay but not great. Staff were pleasant enough. Maybe because it was a Saturday and they were all rushed but it was just average.

Staff were friendly and attentive but not overbearing in this very cosy and welcoming bar just a short walk from the city centre. But the real star is the food. We had Sunday lunch and everything was cooked perfectly and very tasty. The only issue is hauling my over full stomach back to the car. A hidden gem
