Called in for carvery, good choice, nice food.

Went today for lunch couldn't fault the food at all. I have been in hospitality for many years and the only thing that let's this place down was the appearance of the young staff with white trainers ,hair not tied back on the boys, dirty aprons. No staff asked us if our food was ok and the young staff justed walked up and down not clearing tablets and even asked for our table to cleared before we had our desserts.

Was recommended this place by another pub to go for some lunch. Went and had the carvery and got to say the best one I have had for a long time. The vegetables were cooked well and was not mushy. The deco to the place was lovely. Very clean and tidy, my only gripe would be the salt pots either didn’t have salt in or no bottom to hold the salt in. Plenty of parking, lovely out door seating. Would definitely come back if I was in the area again.

wow 🤩 we are happy regulars at the other stonehouse pub The shepards and thought we would give the gap inn a try and we were amazed with the quality of the food and the friendly staff plus the refurb is done to a very high standard and the whole place smells great including the toilets🤣 it is a little bit more expensive than the shepards but the extra cash goes a long way due to the quality of the meat and vegtables they serve. great job guys👍

Well, thought we’d try this Stone House as we are regulars at The Shepherds, and WOW…AMAZING 😳 Kelsey said how good the mash was made with butter, and it was 🥰 I’ve never had better tasting mash anywhere. Callum said the roast potatoes were lovely, they were 😍 Vegetables done to perfection, cauliflower cheese, could actually taste the cheese well done Leon 👍 Thanks Kelsey and Callum made us realy welcome, can’t recommend this place highly enough 🤗

We were told on arrival that the roast had all been used because they had a busy day, which was disappointing. We settled for fish and chips, the fish was excellent but the chips were not made with fresh potatoes but the frozen kind, which on our last visit were real potatoes, so again disappointed. The queue to order and pay was 20 mins wait only one person taking orders. On a better note the staff are unbelievable, so friendly and happy to help with every detail. I will return as the value for money is amazing.

Very disappointed with Sunday lunch only 2 choices of meat when asked about other meat was told it's still in oven. Roast potatoes were hard as was the stuffing peas were like bullets rest of veg was tasteless needles to say we won't be going again. If I could give it no stars I would.

Stopped for carvery . Very busy ,but service was quick and food choice was good. We both had carvery which was cooked well and was very tasty.

Awful service, extemely rude staff will never go again. Official complaint left with there head office after being sworn at by there supervisor on the bar.

Not child friendly, no play area or play ground anymore, just drawing stuff which is for more young children, it's more catered to adults drinking now it seems than families, soft drink prices are very expensive, would be a great thing if they did soft drink refills or a machine for them! Like Harvester or other places, the food is rather standard the carvery is slightly overpriced and not great quality and the toilets are quite dirty, especially the mens.

Just arrived looking forward to seeing the refurbishment to find they have completely removed the play area for the kids..... We left immediately. The only reason we started to go to this pub was the reasonably priced food and the outside play area for the kids. They now only have "colouring books". We won't be coming back as a family anymore. Only place that made us all welcome and watching the kids play outside. That's gone so why bother. Disappointed as they never once mentioned the kids area would be going.

Lovely meal. Food freshly cooked. Very friendly staff and good value for money. Plenty of choice on the menu or cheaper daily deals. Highly recommend.

The staff were nice. The carvery not so great. Roast potatoes were so hard on the outside even aftera 15 min soaking in gravy. Gammon was dry. Turkey was nice but that was because it had just been brought out. Cauliflower cheese, peas and sweetcorn were nice. Carrots were bland. Gravy had a weird taste of burnt about it.

We left half of the meals and thdn left it was dreadful not cooked properly most was hard or cold

Had a Too Good To Go bag and the carvery was atrocious. Besides being a tiny container, not enough for a portion, the potatoes were indelible and stuffing like a boulder. Wasn't impressed with the flavour either. Wouldn't entice me to come inside for a fresh one.

Served by the wonderful Kerry,big smiles every time we go in and very welcoming and a warm environment! Brilliant food

Extremely disappointed with the removal of the play area. No point in coming here now as we liked being able to let the kids play whilst we had a drink.

Great is staff friendliness, however queues of 8 or more people at the bar causes long queues and waits. Very understaffed. Zero dairy free ice cream for our allergy child. He could have the toppings tho!! What 7 yr old wants an apple pie for dessert? Not mine, he wants the same as other kids. It makes no difference to us anyway as we won't return for our weekly meals as the recent refurb has removed the child's plY area and it is now no longer a family friendly pub. So we are off searching for a new place for our meals.

food was nice and good portions and quick service however i came to order a “berry burst” with no alcohol which i got id for even tho it’s a mock-tail and got no alcohol in which i didn’t understand

Absolutely loved our first experience of a carvery. Luke was brilliant and positive towards both me and my partner, as well as the manager. Food was amazing brilliant value for money! Couldnt be happier with our whole experience. Will now become a regular place for us to visit on date night.

What a transformation! Service and food was spot on. The new dishes are really nice. The Feta and Spinach dish was lovely and creamy. The Gap looks amazing!

Dirty tables and plates all over the place, not enough staff, and you can not have a small carvery on a Saturday 😉 absolutely no idea so never stayed would not recommend

It's ok but for the price they need to do something about the wait time. The vegetables are hard and sometimes the food can be cold. Definitely recommend paying the extra for three quid and going to the Welby arms!

My family and myself come to The Gap Inn most Sunday’s for a carvery. It is absolutely brilliant. At our most recent visit we were served by Char. Very polite and friendly! We will be returning next week! Would recommend to anyone!

Food is ok, what you expect for the price. Very good value. Staff nice. The older lady had a case of RBF but was lovely and friendly. The place just need a bit of a clean that’s all.

Resonable breakfast,bacon was too dry and mushrooms very fatty but over all it was nice. Price is very good and love that it's proper tinned tomatoes!! I'd like to thank kerry who was the assistant,she was very friendly and went out of her way to help

Called in for lunch. Food was really good and Kerry looked after us very well, going the extra mile to help Mum on her 95th birthday. Only gripe is that the music was not really appropriate for the average age of the customers. Otherwise, excellent visit.

We come here often. The prices for the excellent breakfasts and carvery, even without offers, is amazing. The place is clean, warm & spacious with good staff (particularly the georgeous Kerry, who has a very welcoming attitude).

We arrived and it was mega busy. We were advised of the 30min wait for food but after an hour we still hadn’t been served. I spoke to the barman, who spoke to the kitchen (our order had been lost in the rush) and then the manager. We were given a full refund and our food was still served super quick once they became aware, with extra huge portions. I really can’t fault how it was handled. I know that wouldn’t have worked if you were in a rush but fortunately we weren’t.

On 26th June we enjoyed a great breakfast and were looked after by Kerry who was most efficient and delightful. We always appreciate good service as experienced on Wednesday and for that reason we will continue to return. Looking forward to the new refurbishment. Thank you.

Awful.... the food but more worrying the 2 female staff working 26.6.24 pm. We were given extra order and charged for it, when I said we didn't order it she told me I needed to still pay for it!!! After a brief introduction to No I was told to go to the bar for a refund rather than her correcting the error at our table where we were eating. So, after food waited 15 mins to get a refund, an elderly lady using a walking frame struggled to return to her table with her plate of food... no staff offered to help so I did. Food, dry cucumber and HUGE uncut pieces of lettuce, rabbits would dine here gloriously! Hard for those with dentures or poor hand mobility to cut and eat! We sat outside, offered no sauces or cuttlery. Once finished I asked the waitress if I could give some feedback- she told me to speak to manager and walked off! No care or customer sensitive approach. £33 for scampi, awful pale salad, no dark greens shoved on a plate. Never again!!!!! Embarrassed for you. Get some decent staff!

Another breakfast for 3 hungry guys ! Food always freshly cooked, very hot and plentiful. Special thanks to Kerry who, as usual, greeted us with that cheerful smile and catered to our every whim. Would always recommend to anyone looking for excellent service at a more than reasonable price.

Your average chain inn but the food and staff make it a notch above. Very nice veggie carvery and the meats were also exceptionally good. Ample parking and clean toilets are also not to be underestimated.

Both servers were lovely. Leah and kerry. Food was great for the value. Overall a great lunch experience.

Went to the bar to order dessert and drinks but as we approached, girl behind bar saw us and walked away pretending that she was doing something with the ordering tablet. Waited for 5 minutes at bar. She then walked past us I then asked what we had to do to get served. She said she was busy. We eventually got served at least 10 minutes later. Totally unacceptable in an empty bar. Won't be visiting again.

Came for breakfast today and brought my dad who has dementia. James in the kitchen was fantastic . My dad got it into his head that he was having sausage eggs chips and beans . So james made that for him . So I have one very happy and very full dad .

Came in yesterday(Monday) ordered a hot porker pizza and dirty filly burger was told Irelands on there so won’t be disappointed and boy was we not. One of if not the best pizzas I’ve ever had and will definitely be back for another

This was our first visit because we wanted a carvery and our usual place was fully booked. We're glad we went because the food was delicious, hot and plentiful and the staff were really helpful and friendly. We will definitely be going back, The Gap Inn may even become our usual Sunday carvery now!
