We visited this pub just to try it out as friends had recommended it to us. Even though the pub was not busy it had a nice homely feel to it. The lady serving was very polite and efficient and promptly took our order. I had the gammon steak which was outstanding, no thick layer of fat around the outside just tender meat, my partner had the steak and Guinness pie with vegetables and chips, which was equally as good. For pudding we shared an apple crumble and ice cream. We both enjoyed the food and will be visiting again!

It’s a truck stop expect nothing more ! Parking facilities looked ok But they need to learn how to cook Had to send the beef roast back before I choked on the beef The manager came offered a new dish so chose the chicken wings which was choosing a dish the same price ! That’s another bad choice came with no meat on and wing tips intact ! They were fresh from the micro wave , drenched in the sauce and Luke warm chips Salad tasteless No sauces where available only salt and pepper as they think the drivers paying £31 night take them ! I’ll use the overnight parking if I have to ! but as for the food give it a wide berth

Called to eat this year to find it is the middle of being demolished, inflatable bar at the rear at present, could not get answer to if it will be rebuilt, it was a spit and sawdust place but the roasts and other food was good, just hope they do put in a new pub with a very similar menu etc, time will tell.

We had called by a few times previously for a drink and a bite of lunch when it was the Atlas, so we called by again for lunch. The immediate greeting was that there was a 20 minute wait for food (no hello), we went to order at the counter, but were told that the orders were now taken at the table, whilst the waitress came to our table in good time, the wait for the drinks was tedious, so tedious we considered leaving. The place was freezing, the front door was open all the time, everyone was sitting with coats and scarfs, it was like sitting in the garage with the freezer door left open. We saw so many people waiting for food, someone returning their food to the counter, that we decided just to wait for the hot drink (we were going to order food). We saw the tea bag (for one of our drinks) dropped on the floor and then put back on the saucer and served to us (we asked if we could swap it for a tea bag that hadn't been on the floor) - the waitress apologised, but come on this is basic hygiene surely staff should know not to do this? All in all, very, very average and not at all as we remembered when it was Atlas

visited today Tuesday 7th May2024 and not been here for a very long time. Was very quiet so getting a table was easy. Drinks were good, staff friendly, clean toilets

The bouncers were not friendly and seemed to have a problem with my friend for no reason at all. There were lots of single men leering and trying to touch us or make us drink their drink. I feel it would be safer if people weren’t allowed to attend as singles

If you haven't tried this restaurant yet, please do, you won't be disappointed and I cannot recommend it enough. This restaurant needs it's own clear listing on Trip Advisor to differentiate it from the Donington Manor Hotel, please claim it Donington Manor! The Sage Restaurant, situated inside the hotel currently has Craig Riley as their head chef. Craig is extremely talented, dishing up Michelin standard food. We had the A La Carte menu here a few weeks ago. I read the excellent reviews but initially discounted the restaurant because dinner service is 6.30-8.30 and we struggle with babysitters. However we happened to meet Craig in the hotel car park during the Castle Donington Fair and he offered to serve us dinner on a Friday afternoon, on a day we had booked off work to celebrate my partners birthday. We're so pleased we went and are already trying to find a way to return with friends as soon as we can. The food was incredible and such good value for money considering the quality and cooking techniques used. We were served more courses than we bargained for and the service was brilliant - they're clearly just a really good bunch that want to wow customers, it was an all round enjoyable experience - and the kind of food you think about for days after!! If you live locally and take Donington Manor for granted, look again and make the effort to go, we are so luckily to have Craig's talent on our door step.

We expected a little village cafe with a welcoming smile and selection of cakes and savoury food. It is a lovely building on pleasant country site, however there was no interaction with the lady behind the counter, she didn’t look up at or talk with us once - despite our being the only customers at the time. Perhaps it was a bad day for her, but the sun was shining, the birds were singing and we felt as if we were just getting in the way and little more than an annoyance. An entirely disappointing service and we left having felt wholly unwelcome.

I visited this place a few weeks and one of the items was donner meat. It looked awful, pale and not very appetising. Decided to try it one more time, The donner meat looked OK but the chicken donner was not great, with loads of burnt bits. Agree with others complaints about the portion of the chips ie small especially for the prices they charge!
