We bought a Groupon offer based on the picture on the advert on Groupon. All we got was 3 tiny finger sandwiches with minimal filling. A cheese straw which was half the size shown in the picture. No pork pie. No sausage rolls etc. A packet of crisps shared between us. Scones were nice but our cakes were cherry slice which was topped with a very runny icing & a tiny child size fairy cake topped with hundreds & thousands. Don't let the pictures fool you!!!

I visited here with a friend for afternoon tea. I’d heard about Carriages but never been in. I loved the decor and all the vintage stuff especially the tea cups and saucers. The afternoon tea was lovely - fresh sandwiches, a small piece of quiche, a cheese straw and a savory scone to start and then sweet scone, cupcake and Victoria sponge for after! We managed almost all of it but for those with a smaller appetite you can take your leftovers home for later. Everything was beautiful, I’d definitely return. I have added photos but we’d already tucked in before I remembered to take one!

Visited this tea rooms the other day like I have many times before and we were rely looking forward to our usual choice of afternoon tea. Upon opening the menu we noticed that almost all the prices had increased which at first I just thought fair enough the cost of living goes up etc and so do ingredients so I made my order for the afternoon tea as it usually is an excellent choice of offerings including delectable scones which I wouldnt have minded paying extra for. However once our food arrived my excitement dwindled and to my horror we were presented with what can only be described as chucked together leftovers and half the amount that we usually receive for a cheaper price. The delectable scones were no where to be seen but instead in its place was a tiny stale plain scone. We only received 3 small finger sandwiches, a small stale piece of pizza YES PIZZA on an afternoon tea, a few cheap tasting crisps and oddly a tiny pot of mints and the slice of cake we recieved had been cut that thin it was nearly see through! I'm terribly disappointed as I have been many a time beforehand and been given generous portions for £3 cheaper. I believe they are running an offer on groupon which is brilliant but unfortunately I really dont think a small business should take on this scale of an offer if you're going to half your portions and not look after your regulars! I will not be returning I'm sorry to say. Such a shame!

Had a truly delicious afternoon tea, with the best "melt in the mouth" scones, I have ever tasted. Lovely atmosphere, great staff. A must visit for anyone visiting Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire.

Had amazing afternoon tea over there, food was amazing. The only thing I didn't like there was more cakes and sweet stuff instead of sandwiches. But besides that it was great. And they have old fashioned sweet shop as well 👌

What a glorious hidden gem. The food was very fresh and all home made. The scones need a special mention no wonder they are award winning. Just to mention the owner and staff it was a pleasure to go in and the 40s decor is brilliant. Give yourself a treat go and see them

Me and my daughter had a groupon voucher, which we paid £12 for, which was half the normal price for 2 afternoon tea’s,all looked ok on arrival a big pot of tea which was nice n then they brought what was supposed to be for 2 people after tea, we literally got 1 thin oblong ham sandwich 1 cream cheese n cucumber n 1 ham ( a tiny pot of crisps n a tiny pot of salad ) between 2 of us a hard plain scone each we wasn’t asked if we wanted the fruit scone 2 pieces of cake which was ok n 2 fairy cakes, now if I was paying the full £24 I would of been fuming, I’m still fuming as it wasn’t even worth the £12 we paid

A lovely little Tea Room with a 1940s theme and a comforting homely vibe. All food and drinks are served on vintage china and you can listen to the sounds of Vera Lynn as you while away your visit. The cakes are outstanding... I chose a slice of Coffee and Walnut cake which was absolutely delicious, a huge slice and lovely and moist. The creamy filling was so smooth and not too sweet or sickly. There's a full range of teacakes, sandwiches and scones to be had.I have a feeling that Carriages will become my new favourite place for a coffee and cake. - Be Gone Costa, Carriages wins for atmosphere, coffee and cake hands down.UPDATE: I've since been back for the AfternoonTea (Pre-booking is essential) and it's everything you want Afternoon Tea to be. Finger Sandwiches, Crisps, Crudités, Brownies, Fairy Cakes, Scones with Cream and Strawberry Jam, a huge slab of cake and a large selection of Teas. Served as you'd expect, on a cake stand and on vintage China and in china cups. All for £12. Luckily I managed to eat everything, but if you can't, they'll wrap it for you to take away. Perfect.

great idea and lovely looking cafe! was empty when we went in but decided to stay anyway and support local trade instead of usual costa. Big mistake!A nice friendly chap gave us a rundown of the place and I ordered two coffees and a Stilton and walnut scone which looked amazing on display. my wife watched the young serving girl make the coffee with a cheap looking sachet (kind of thing you get at home bargains) for which we paid £2.00 each! come on guys, everyone expects fresh coffee for that price nowadays, we're not in the actual 1940's !needless to say it was awful. then came the scone.....it was obviously several days stale and took me a while to cut it without dispersing it all over the shop. the spread i got (no butter) was the most tasteless thing i'd ever eaten and i spent 20 minutes trying to eat the thing because my wife didn't want me to upset the nice man. it was awful, no walnuts or Stilton in sight and dry as a bone.I desperately want to support independent local trade and hope this was a one off problem but unfortunately it was so bad for a very simple order I won't bother again.

Visited here for the first time expecting a great place with great drinks etc having seen it on local facebook and people raved about it.I remember it as a public house years ago but now a tea room. decorated in olde world effects. Good choice of snacks like teacakes scones etc. The coffee was not very nice being made from Instant and not the usual Italian steaming machine. The food we had was ok. We liked the decor and the inbuilt sweet shop with lots of the old fashioned sweets. Found it to be a bit pricey compared to other tearooms locally, Staff were friendly but seemed in no rush. Sorry to say we will not be going again. When wanting an old world looking place the Vintage Tea shop in draycott beats this by miles, a lot better menu and a lot cheaper and lovely food and drinks

Have been to this lovely place twice for pre-theatre food, as it is located very close to the Duchess Theatre. On both occasions we were made to feel very welcome by friendly and helpful staff members. The atmosphere is relaxed and chatty. The 1940s theme is backed up by vintage items and posters. There is a good selection of savoury, sweet and vegetarian food, and it is extremely good value. On my second visit I was accompanied by my friend who was using her wheelchair. I forewarned the staff and they were very helpful with regard to where we were seated, access and mobility.

I took my Mum here for Afternoon Tea as a treat for her birthday. It has a lovely atmosphere with 1940's songs playing and memorabilia scattered around the room. The cakes are amazing and £12 each was great value for money considering all we got! There's also a nice selection of vintage sweets and different teas. The owner is a lovely lady and was really welcoming and friendly. We will definitely visit again!

Stopped off for a cuppa while waiting for our train; very quirky and lovely decor! The lady who served me was very friendly and chatty (told me all about her love for cats lol) and was a very inviting place. There were a few instruments in the corner so it suggested to me it possibly does some events at times which I thought was cool. Would come back again :)

Come here every few weeks with my daughter after school. Always feel welcome. The cakes and scones are beautiful. As a new business they're doing so well and trialing new ideas. Love the new retro sweets being offered. Great little place.

Lovely little tea room with a great 1940's feel. Came with a group of friends for a pre-booked afternoon tea. Although we had requested two Gluten free afternoon teas this had not been noted in the booking - was worried that this meant two of us wouldn't be eating however the chef was brilliant and managed to whip us up some gluten free sandwiches and scones. The food was divine and there was way too much for all of us and we ended up taking loads home. Would definitely come again!

Decided to have breakfast here this morning, it was quaint and picturesque... so thought would be lovely, pot of tea ordered by my husband and 2 sausage and egg cobs, ... when they came we were terribly dissatisfied, one sausage that was too small for the bread and the egg it was more like having a fried egg sandwich, the egg was an extra 75p which is OK I guess but £4.35 for one sausage 1 egg in a breadcake did not feel like good value for money. Can get a dozen sausage for less than that. Queried the waitress and she just said that's how we do it 🤨 not sorry about your disappointment or anything, seamed a little rude a response if you ask me. Safe to say we won't be returning.

Great old pub that we visit every year during the summer months, food was ok, and this year seems like standards have slipped, paddock area in the garden looking very tired and in need of a makeover, had 2 pints and only one was decent, would return but hopefully improvements made
