Fish chips and peas straight out of a packet I think. Not good value for money either.

Really nice pub, food was really good and the staff were friendly. Best bit, dogs are allowed inside.

First time going here, and it was great. The food was fantastic and nice outdoor seating areas. Definitely will visit again. I'd recommend it.

My brother took me out for lunch and we went to the Harrington, the food was excellent and well worth the money, I had the steak and kidney pie ( home made 😋) with cullcannon mash and peas,the gravey was smooth yet thick, and a cup of tea (and their not using EL CHEAPO tea bags here👍👍) my brother had a pint of beer, and was full of praise, and just to finish,I used the rest room, and it was the cleanest and sweetest smelling pub rest room i was ever in (and I've been in more than a few😷😷😷) great pub ,great service and very friendly, give it a go ,you won't regret it 👍👍👌👌

We had a fantastic visit to The Harrington Arms in Sawley. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with that classic country pub charm that makes you feel right at home. A special mention has to go to Chloe, whose service was absolutely outstanding. She was friendly, attentive, and genuinely made our visit more enjoyable. It’s clear she cares about the guests and goes above and beyond to ensure everyone is looked after. Nothing was too much trouble, and her positive energy really stood out. The food was delicious and served promptly, and the overall experience was just what you'd hope for from a great local pub. We’ll definitely be returning—and hoping Chloe’s on shift when we do

Sunday roast beef was nice however quite cold, we have previously recived cold food from this pub so seems to be a common theme. never asked by staff if we would like desert or any more drinks. Unfortunately the pub seems to have gone downhill over the last few years.

Lovely pub and restaurant, the staff are super helpful and efficient. We had dinner and it was lovely couldn’t fault it. Will definitely be going back. We have also just been for drinks and the garden is a relaxing place to have a drink.

What a difference 4 weeks makes since our last visit! In for a tea time weekday meal for 2 adults and 2 children Ordered fish and chips, shepherds pie, steak and ale pie and crispy chicken burger Fish was maybe twice fried? Chips were cold and stale ( re-heated? Or sat waiting for other meals to be cooked?) Sent it back. Came back the same and tasteless. Returned it. Disappointed as Wethersoons in Stapleford do it brilliantly for much less! Order wrong for grandsons burger, sent it back. Pie and mash didn't go down well although this could be down to individual taste alone. Partners Shepherds pie was a let down with the thinnest crust of potato and mostly cheese topping and presentation of veg didn't look appetising. Waitress admitted wrong order with apologies. Got us free drinks and offered both of us with issues free desserts. The second burger looked over done but my Grandson too hungry to care by then. I would have appreciated a deduction off the bill which was still £60 after removing my item. Not sure what happened but that was not an example of good pub food especially at those prices! - £15 for Shepherds pie (with no real layer of potato?, a few peas and a carrot cut in half) Waitress was very polite and apologetic otherwise it would have been 1 star

We enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch for 7 at The Harrington Arms with the family, and overall, it was a delightful experience. The standout of the meal was undoubtedly the minted lamb shank – beautifully tender, rich in flavour, and cooked to perfection. While the lamb was a star, the roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese didn’t quite meet expectations. The roasties lacked the crispness you’d hope for, and the cauliflower cheese needed a bit more cheesyness and punch. It was pretty tasteless. However, the meal ended on a high note with the sharer pudding platter – a real treat! A delicious variety of desserts that pleased everyone at the table. A warm, welcoming atmosphere and great service made it a memorable meal. With a few tweaks to the sides, it would be a solid 5-star experience. Looking forward to returning!

I would like to thank Kimberley and her team for an amazing send of for my partner Andy on 4th April it was a perfect day and nothing was too much trouble. The food was amazing as were all the staff. Kimberley reserved Andy's favourite table for him with a photo obviously a pint and a lovely candle which was such a beautiful gesture to his memory. I will be forever thankful for the love shown for Andy. I couldn't recommend this pub and the hospitality highly enough. Thankyou Kimberley and the team for making a sad day full of happy memories to treasure.

Prices are steep but there is excellent service and great seating.

We visited by foot and chose the Harrington because there used to be an extensive menu for both food and drink (wines) ... bur not any more for either. Difficult to comprehend how there is no longer 'from the grill' options, i e. one steak choice, gammon and no mixed grill. Half the wines choices are no more and half those on offer, weren't even available. We won't be visiting again with so many other choices nearby, e.g. 2x Marstons, Esquina and 3x options down Lock Lane. UPDATE: Have read through response from the 'owner' but struggle to understand how another GK pub around 3miles away DOESNT have stock issues nor a severally reduced menu for both food and wine choices.

We've only been here twice before, and the last time we had to wait 25mins for our puddings, and they were not even busy, not even half full.

Used to love this place but they've recently switched to Greene King which is disappointing. They used to do multiple options for steaks - now it's the boring same old menu everywhere has.

Went with my family for Mother’s Day lunch. Most of us had roasts, absolutely lovely. I rarely leave reviews but the food and staff were brilliant, well done!

Disappointed to be honest , we always visit for the steaks they were always cooked to perfection , but on our recent visit the menu has changed and only sirloin on the menu 😢 the food we had was OK but not up to the usual standard, staff were lovely and attentive though .

Had the pulled lamb shepherds pie. It was delicious but I would say expensive for the size of the portion. Sticky toffee pudding was amazing.

Food was amazing. Went above and beyond. I had a roast and I really wanted mash potatoes and all the veg and they delivered. The service is outstanding,always a warm welcome . Great atmosphere when it's the summer the garden is always full and dogs are welcome too which is a great bonus.. 👍 👌

This is a lovely little spot ...always a go to when im on my bike or quad ...food is 10/10 everytime which is rare nowdays and priced very reasonably ....quality towers over the price thats for sure ....i dont even have a bad word to say about any of the staff from management to glass collectors they are all very happy and more than helpful ....garden is also lovely in the summer months with events for all ....ohhh and the dog is allowed in too ...BONUS ....honestly this pub is outstanding in my opinion ....well done team harrington 💪💪💪

I had the mixed grill and it wasn't quiet has good as it was on my previous visit ,the black pudding was to hard and the steak well done, and the chips were only just warm .I should have complained but I didn't

not a review I ever thought I would write about this place but the last 2 times the service has been shocking, last night we waited 25 minutes for a drinks order, and after 40 minutes of being there I had to ask for someone to take our food order, there were a few tables that had already been served and staff standing about, so being busy wasn't an excuse the sharer came and we had to ask for bread for the cheese, then our mains were over cooked not like it was months ago.

Went here with my family on Sunday for a family meal as we dont catch uo often enough! And all of our meals were beautiful! Everyone complimented on how fast the food arrived! And how tasty it was! The kids ate all their chicken nuggets which is a first! We booked a table for my mums birthday on friday aswell as we were that impressed! Thank you

Food was Delicious nice and hot and very tasty! The service was pretty quick too I was quite suprised for how busy it was! The price very reasonable, Manager & Staff were very friendly! Went in for lunch 12o’clock , brunch menu was on the bar . Barmaid was crouched putting things away , took her couple mins to acknowledge us and we were talking amongst ourselves so she knew we were there . No smile or apology . Just looking at the brunch menu and the manager came over and just said it’s finished no offer of where the lunch menu was , no smile either . Food arrived , was warm not hot parts of it was cold , taste was ok . We had 3 starters as they didn’t do sandwiches , just told to fetch own condiments and cutlery and the cloth and cleaner to wipe the table in amongst it all ( didn’t look nice) . Used to be much better , sorry

Daughters pasta was cold, partners steak tough and then to cap it all a dog did a poo near our table (indoors(. We couldn’t carry on eating and immediately left. After complaining we were told that “these things happen occasionally”. Well a proper apology would have been nice. Will not be returning - value your customers more!

Asked for pinot blush. Was not what I got. Too dark for pinot Asked for chicken burger with honey. Was so greasy when mentioned to server I was told that’s honey. I do know the difference between grease and honey. Wasn’t nice. Menu was nothing like what was on website. Will never return

We had a lovely lunch.The service was excellent, from the friendly greeting to the ending goodbye. The girls were attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good. Well presented and tasty. My salmon was cooked perfectly. It was arelly nice lunch. Thank you 😊

Food was lovely, one of best burgers I've had however Staff were clearly talking to us behind our backs, pointing at us and covering there mouths with menus. Made the meal awkward and uncomfortable

Lovely food, quiet and excellent service

Me and my partner came on Valentine’s Day for food and I ordered a sirloin with peppercorn sauce I ate some and it was sent back as even the chips were hard. Since then I have had awful food poisoning, sickness and diarrhoea.. even to the point it caused acute pancreatitis due to the amount I was sick. I have contacted Harrington arms left messages, have had no response from a manager or the owner. I am appalled by this pub I wouldn’t recommend to anyone as they clearly have some sort of food hygiene problem.

We do "secret shopper" for Green King and this is one of the few Pubs we choose to spend our own money in. On this occasion it was for my birthday treat. All food was cooked to perfection and portion sizes were good. I have only given it 4 stars because a) although I booked and reserved the table for 2 plus 2 dogs the day before, they did not reserve the table and someone was sitting at my table of choice (this has happened the last 2 times I have booked here) , b) nobody asked if our meal was okay whilst we were eating (not a big deal as everything was okay, but it is on the Green King's checklist), c) nobody asked if we wanted deserts, or cleared our plates within 15 minutes of us finishing the meal. d) Sadly we were forgotten about and had to go to the bar to ask to pay our bill. We were prepared to pay a £10 tip but felt they did not deserve it. There doesn't seem to be a dress code for staff as the waitress felt it was appropriate to show off her bare stomach! Not a sight we wanted to see for lunch! Such a shame that we don't feel our £60 payment for lunch was appreciated. There are plenty of alternatives who would make us feel more welcome.

Overall a good experience. Bit disappointed that we made the waitress aware of an allergy and were told that because it wasn't one of the 14 they weren't allowed to check with the kitchen about if some of the foods contained it. Made eating a bit nerve wracking as I was watching my husband constantly for signs of a reaction. They did make his food with an allergy and as he didn't react then I think they were careful, nevertheless it was pretty poor they couldn't, or wouldn't, check for an allergen. The service other than this was pretty good but I don't think I'd go back, when I go out for a meal I want to relax, not stress about whether I'm going to have to rush to a&e.

The two stars are for the lovely young waiters who were friendly. The customer service in general was the worst i've ever experienced. On arrival said we had no booking. Wanted to see confirmation email still said no booking until my sister saw the booking on their computer screen! No acknowledgement no apology just a smile-less 'follow me'. My food was awful. Grilled salmon. The salmon was fine, prawns inedible like rubber and the veggies all completely undercooked, pale and tepid. All very dry. I complained and they brought another which was marginally better, ie I ate the fish and potatoes but the 'char grilled' veg was still raw. No apology and in fact the man walked off from me while i was talking. We ordered more drinks - they did not arrive! My sisters meat pie pastry was a hockey puck. She was unable to eat it and he took it away to 'look at it'. He didn't return. They removed the fish dish from the bill , we paid and left. All a shame as the restaurant area looked great. We wouldn't return or recommend.

The food at this restaurant was exceptional and offered at a fantastic price. Every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. Our server, Renata, was absolutely amazing—so friendly and attentive, making the whole dining experience even better. She went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and made us feel welcome from start to finish. Highly recommend this place for both the food and the wonderful service!

Stopped off for light lunch with a friend. Warm welcome, excellent service. We both chose steak ciabatta. Nicely presented, fries perfectly cooked, steak tasty but very chewy. Had to be taken out the ciabatta to eat,maybe steak knives would be better. Reasonable price.

The Katsu chicken is normally spot on but tonight it was a little too crispy. Chips had not been cooked long enough and were white with a texture of undercooked potato. However, service was great for a busy night

Called in when passing, not been before. Had a lovely meal. One gluten-free and one normal. Would Definitely recommend to family and friends. Looking forward to visiting again soon.

I suppose this place is ok if you need to eat quickly but it is what it is - pub grub. It lacks taste, seasoning and could do with being a bit hotter. I've been around 8 times over the years and I don't think it's improved at all in that time but some friends wanted to go there. If I go again I'll just order soup and a roll as nothing I've tried excites me sorry.

A very expensive Sunday carvery, the beef was very undercooked, I complained it was that bad but they replaced the whole meal with extra pork instead.. .

Don't order the vegan avocado and toast. Barely a smear of avocado and no substi tution for egg but same price as non vegan (which alone was hardly worth the money). Breakfast baps looked good though.

Didn't have food but there was a festival on and it were packed. I guess not the fault of the pub but feffivately spoilt the meeting up with friends bit.

Food was disappointing, only 3 pieces of chicken in the Fajitas and the crumble was pretty tasteless. Somehow ended up with an upset stomach the next day. Work that one out.

The Harrington Arms has the best beer garden in Sawley, friendly staff, nice atmosphere and good service. Convenient location with car park.

Been here a few times and unfortunately always been disappointing. The food is poor, meat usually either cold or overcooked, with vegetables looking old or just of poor quality. The food just looks like it’s been stood around too long or is straight from the freezer. The staff seem tense, angry and rushed, there also always seems to be something wrong between everyone. I would not recommended, not only because of the food, but the atmosphere isn’t very welcoming and I was always glad to leave.

We've been here a few times and the food has been good. However today the veg was cold, the meat cold the vegan pie uneatable, the roast potatoes rock hard. Several other couples around pub were saying the same. The kitchen really let there waiters down. We will give it a miss for awhile now in the hopes they improve standards. It felt more like a hungry horse than a pub and grill. And reading the latest reviews today isn't isolated.

Food delivered very slowly, with big gaps between dishes so we couldn't eat at the same time. Two dishes overcooked, looked like they had been reheated (pastry the consistency of concrete). When we gave feedback we were offered free desserts, loudly, in front of our kids - fine, except we weren't going to have any and have birthday cake at home for my son.

The staff there were very good, the food was nice and fresh, a very good place for any one looking for somewhere good for a beer and some food, both are very good, I would recommend the Harrington Arms to anyone.

It's a great pub with a nice relaxed atmosphere. The landlord is fantastic. Great rapport with everyone. Her regulars obviously love her.

Great experience and lovely garden. Been here a few times recently for drinks and food ,always excellent service and good value tasty food. The garden is great and looks better and better every visit someone clearly takes great care and puts lots of effort and into making it the best outside space in the area. Thanks will be back soon.
