Soggy veg and rude staff. 3 rd time I’ve been here and it’s been bad 3 times. Won’t be going again

Lovely visit today the pizza was top notch. Also a good range of ales, ghost ship and doom bar and a lovely cider.

Amazing food, amazing service. Yulia was so attentive, really made us feel so welcome. Came yesterday too and caitlin and Bella were absolutely amazing too. Would highly recommend, would definitely return 😀

Third visit and the food was tepid when it came to the table again. Only ale available on tap was Doombar

The service today was excellent, the food was outstanding and not to mention the service was impeccable. My servers were bella and georgia and they made the whole experience very pleasnt. very polite and willing to help. the mac and cheese is very nice. very good way to spend a friday evening

Perfect pub in a great location.

We had a motorhome stopover, stayed 2 nights and dined both nights and a breakfast, good choice of food excellently presented. Great location, fantastic staff. no negatives at all about this location. Only problem I experienced was an aggressive driver, obviously trying to protect his car from the trees whilst I was wedge against a hedge scraping a full 7 metres of motorhome. He was insistent on trying to get through on the narrowest part of lane as I was leaving, there was no where for me to reverse- not your fault but he swore and yelled, refused to reverse his significantly smaller vehicle...upset my dogs, it's not as though he couldn't see my vehicle above the trees, other drivers (not many at 9.30 Sunday morning) saw my vehicle approach and paused in wider parts - as did I. It's only a short stretch of single carriageway. We'll be back, we have a note of staff names for a Google review, thank you for a great weekend stay

The waiting staff were polite, but not especially friendly or welcoming. We did not have the cutlery we required on our table, which we dealt with ourselves by taking it from other tables. It appears that we were expected to use the same cutlery and napkin for both our starters and main. I selected a dish particularly because it was served with broad beans and yet when the dish arrived it had approximately 4 broad beans on the plate which had been cut in half to give the appearance of 8 beans and then supplemented with a lot of peas . The new potatoes were undercooked, but it was otherwise tasty and acceptable. My partner was unhappy with his hunter's chicken and says that chicken burgers taste better than this. There was a tiny bit of salad to accompany this dish, he prefers more vegetables than this with his meals.

Catling our server was brilliant, efficient and friendly. We had Seabass and the gammon. It was all delicious 😋

Nice pub...good location and food was good. Staff lacked any humour and were not friendly which was a shame.

Top notch. The manager welcomed us and our guests and took us to our table for 8, which was in a more secluded part of the restaurant. There was an open fire should we need it lit. The tables were set perfectly. I added my decs for the joint birthday celebration. Nothing was too much trouble even though they were busy. Caitlin our waitress was first class in every way. Professional friendly polite helpful … very calm and collected - as was the manager. All the food was hot and very tasty. The drinks were great. Timing was perfect for each course. We can only say a huge thank you and fully recommend this pub/restaurant in a beautiful setting. I need to add that we are not basing our review on that one experience as each time we have been everything has been great-consistently - but well done serving a large (ish) party especially on a busy evening. Thank you.

Visited for a post work drink and some nibbles with a friend and what a find it was. A really lovely location combined with friendly service and good food sets the perfect backdrop for an amazing evening. Lots of drinks on offer and really reasonably priced for what you get. The service was really friendly. Food well presented and although we only had the 3 for £10 which was really well priced (with some fries on the side!) it was a really lovely way to spend a few hours. Really hoping to make it back soon!

Fab Sunday Lunch and had a gravy refill, waiting staff were very attentive but not overly. Only thing was the roast potatoes werent roasted very well, but this did not spoil a great sunday dinner. Will definitely return and possibly in the week also.

Had the perfect visit. Great atmosphere and very cosy. Wouldn't change anything about the food, and our server Kian was a delight. Very welcoming, friendly and even took our order by memory. I was impressed by everything and can't wait to come back. Many thanks to the whole team!

Went for mid-week lunch, not busy as expected but still plenty of staff and good atmosphere. Good value lunch menu offer for 2 or 3 courses with plenty of options. Food was great and served efficiently. Easy to request substitutes out of preference.

Went here for Mother's day. The service was great, the food beautiful and ambience great. Even the background music was lovely. Loved everything about it. It made my Mother's day very special. Slightly more expensive that your usual pub, however, worth it as it was restaurant quality. Not your average Pub meal.

Large pub restaurant by the river and canal. Beer good and food a little more inventive than some. Good value. Car park flooded so interesting getting there. Must go back in the summer when large riverbank garden will come into its own.

Amazing experience for my family and I celebrating my birthday and Mother's day. I had the pie of the day chicken leek and pancetta, with spring onion mash and roasted carrots and vegetables. Followed by a mini dessert and pudding: hot chocolate and brownie with honeycomb ice cream. It was all delicious and cooked to perfection. Mark was our waiter, he was very friendly and attentive. The venue is beautiful lots of William Morris designs on the furniture, wooden beams and old pictures of Long Eaton and Sawley. Very reasonably priced. Because we had signed up to Vintage Inns 24 hours beforehand we managed to get £20 off our bill (having spent over £40). Would highly recommend.

Efficient staff. We had to send one meal back as not hot and my salad had avocado missing. The salad looked untidy and looked as if a bag of spinach was dropped on the plate with little else. No Little Gem as per menu. Far far too much spinach. Not enough chicken and far too much bacon. Everything was rectified quickly and efficiently.

The only issue I had was that I did not get a loyalty card stamp, yet again. The last time I visited my card was scanned, but after 24 hours there was no stamp. We have a meal booked for Friday, and should now be on 2 stamps, so it's rather frustrating. Our chips were quite cold, but they bought my daughter fresh ones, so that problem was solved.

Good place to meet family, unfortunately couldn't see much of the grounds as they and the car park were under water, I am sure would be lovely gardens.

Terrible service and food, sausage and mash consisted of 3 sausages 2 burnt and inedible camouflaged under copious amounts of onions, the waiter then appeared with a dish of small Onion rings and disgustedly sprinkled them over my meal by hand Won’t visit this establishment again

Love the fire area in Trent lock and the staff are always super friendly. Only thing I think could be improved is the cider and ale selection and it’s very limited given how much selection other pubs have these days.

The homemade cottage pie was delicious on a cold and wet day. The pub itself was very pleasant and warm. I would definitely recommend this place.

Dog friendly. More expensive than other places near by. Comfy, good well stocked bar. Nice and friendly atmosphere. We didnt eat but what came out of the kitchen looked great!

The Valentines Day set menu was really amazing. Loving this place at the minute and highly recommend. The staff are super friendly and can't do enough for you.

Every time I visit this place I get a wonderful welcome. The food is always good and it's difficult to decide what to have as they do so many great dishes. The temperature is always spot on and the atmosphere is just right. Looking forward to coming again soon!

Absolutely fantastic experience. The team were really welcoming and couldn’t do more for us and the food was great as well. It was so cosy and the valentines menu had really nice options on. Will definitely be coming back soon and would recommend.

Early afternoon dog walk down the canal to the Trent Lock Tasty lunchtime snack followed by mini pudding and coffee. Fantastic friendly service as always.

Two good pubs for drinking and eating, lots of outdoor seating at both, a very good cafe serving delicious food, lots of boats activity around the lock and plenty of places to have a walk. Very big free car park.

Great recommendation by staff at Long Eaton sofas, interesting menu..both had 2 courses, ( one a starter, one the desert) The aranchini served with beetroot and humus were excellent.. may both have them next time. The duck and hoisen pizza was light and tasty without...

Service was awful, no acknowledgment from staff upon arrival. Staff were finishing shifts and sat drinking in the bar area, leading to the staff still working to be more distracted by there work friends than the customers. Food was brought out with no cutlery and did not ask if the food was satisfactory. Starter plates were still on the table when they brought main course out. Had to collar attention from staff to clear plates main course after 25 minutes of finishing our meal. 3 other tables around us were there for longer than us that also still had empty plates. Food was absolutely lovely but would not come back again because of the poor lack of acknowledgment and professionalism of what seemed like it was being ran by a youth club.

Stayed over night in campervan in pub car park ( phone ahead to check). Lovely busy pub with good atmosphere. Fires, very dog friendly and welcoming staff. Good food selection which was tasty and good value. Also open for excellent breakfast after a good walk along the river Trent. Really couldn’t fault the experience a lovely stop off.

Terribly poor food. Beyond bland…first the veg and chips had to back due to them been ice cold. Secondly the next set of veg was just a bowl of broccoli which had no taste. The chips were not seasoned,there wasn’t really much to say good...

We booked a table as a group and were made to feel welcome by friendly staff particularly the male waiter unsure of his name but we were seated near the log fire which was lovely. Food was nice aswell, with plenty of vegan options available...

Just been for something to eat in the afternoon. Started with a camembert 2 share. Really nice which we enjoyed. Then had a fish finger sandwich and sticky chicken starter. Really disappointing. No salad or dressings with the sticky chicken and the sandwich was served in ciabatta bread.. supposed to be doorstep bread and chips were like bullets. Awful. Really wasn't happy after paying £40.

We had a Sunday roast and it was delicious. They must have been very busy during that day because, by 4pm they had run out of cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets.

I think this pub is probably the best it has been in the last thirty years. It has a warm, classy air about it with shabby chic wood finishers throughout. The food is slightly more expensive than the average pub but the location more than makes up for it. We walked down to look at the flood water which you can see has affected the beer garden. When it's dry, the garden and sheltered gazebo are lovely.

Went on a Saturday lucky to get a table. Staff were rushed off their feet but we received good friendly service, didn't have to wait long for the food which was well cooked and very nice, good choice of beers will be back again soon.
