We enjoyed our afternoon tea (which has to be pre-booked, via email). The cakes and sandwiches were nice, although nothing particularly stand-out about them. However, the selection of loose leaf teas was great - innovative flavours and great quality teas. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and attentive.

I would recommend the Humble Cat to anyone. The food was fresh and delicious. Vicky was incredibly helpful, meeting a tight schedule, flexibly accommodating our specific needs, picking up extra items of decoration, providing a full catering service, even including oversized tablecloths and takeaway containers for leftovers. I appreciated the simple and understated style of her presentation. And her work ethic should be envied by everyone. Thank you Humble Cat!!

As a vegetarian of 40 years I was so looking forward to coming here for some original, flavoursome food especially based on the reviews. The place is small and cosy and beautifully set up. However, on walking in even though there were other diners it felt as though we had to whisper and was a little uncomfortable to start. The service was fabulous. The food however didn’t live up to expectations unfortunately. The veggie dumplings were good as was the hispi cabbage. However, cauliflower cheese was lukewarm, too thick and did not have a sniff of cheese about it and was quite bland. The flatbread was an overpowering mix of the spicy hummous, then loaded with onion relish, topped with a tasteless cheese. The chocolate and miso tart was the show stopper - amazing. Such a shame overall as had such high hopes for real flavoursome food. Final thing was the ‘additional charges on the receipt - charity and service. Felt obliged to pay them.

We booked three for lunch at 12.30 but could find not staff when we arrived. The one we did find did not know they had a brasserie.! We were offered a table but the waitress could not find the wine list. We left.

We were regular visitors for food but after three visits of returning cold food, only to receive more cold food. We have decided enough is enough. Complaints only got us apologies. We will go elsewhere in future.
