What a delightful friendly restaurant! Service was excellent. Food was absolutely stunning. Will rave about this place for months to come. You don't have to be vegan or plant based to simply enjoy the excellent food. Will be definitely returning

I probably should start with saying I am not vegan, however, we have seen the great reviews for no 12 and were really interested to try a plant based tasting menu. We do like to eat out at Michelin star restaurants so understand balance of flavours and are very open to trying new things. I am sad to say that unfortunately we did not enjoy no 12, we didn’t feel the flavours were balanced and sadly the dishes were quite bland. Some of the courses we didn’t eat much of which has never happened before at a tasting menu. The restaurant is lovely, small and intimate and the staff were very friendly, however, the food was very disappointing. We actually asked for the bill before the final course. If you are vegan you may have a different take, but if you are not, with regret, I would have to say there are so many better places to go for the price (£130 for 2 people for tasting menu).

Incredible restaurant. Wonderful experience from start to finish. Beautiful location, excellent service… and then the food. Wow. Mouth watering flavours, lots of choice, delicious combinations - and all entirely plant based. We had the most wonderful romantic evening and couldn’t have enjoyed it any more.

We went for an early pre-concert meal at No: 12. The meal was fantastic and beautifully presented. Every dish had such complex flavours and tasted so fresh. We now always go to vegan restaurants whenever we eat out and this is one of the best. Very good value and lovely staff! Well done.

No. Twelve is probably the best restaurant I’ve ever been to in Nottingham. I’m vegetarian, and often I find vegetarian food quite weird and not like the delicious, filling meals I grew up with. It was nice to visit a restaurant with a ‘proper’ plant-based menu, as it were. I ordered 3 dishes and all were stunning. I liked the coffee and the tapas experience was excellent. However, the toilets were slightly uncomfortable, being underground by about 3 stories, but that wasn’t a problem at all with the food being so nice.

Went yesterday with a group of friends, none of us Vegan. We tried the lunchtime sharing menu and chose some other dishes too. Lovely food and the service was excellent: attentive but relaxed. The food came out gradually, unlike at some tapas type restaurants. Would recommend. The mash and hen of the woods were my highlights.

First visit to this delightful vegan restaurant. We came as a group of 12 for a work lunch. All of us meat eaters. I have to say we were all more than pleasantly surprised. Each dish packed with flavour good portion size, desserts were a hit. Friendly service in a quaint building. Timings were good nicely spaced out and attentive to our needs. A must for all not just for vegans. My only suggestion warm bread would be a nicer touch.

This is one of the best restaurants I’ve visited. It is not hyperbole to describe the food as utterly incredible, it truly was. Aside from the beautiful presentations, to taste each plate exemplified that the combination of flavours had been carefully considered down to the very fine details. The Cast Iron Girolles, Brussels Kimchi Risotto and Best Mash were absolute favourites! All left me and my partner very satisfied by the comforting flavours exhibited, particularly at this time of year. Service was also impeccable - very welcoming, polite and efficient. The venue was cosy, yet spacious enough to enjoy your meal. The ambience was a peacefully happy place created through evenly-balanced, good music and soft, warm lighting. Specialising in plant-based small plates, During the evening, we were served some of the most creative and delicious dishes. Who knew mushrooms could be so tasty. It's amazing what can be done with good quality British ingredients. Even if you're not vegan, it's well worth a visit to see what can be done with plant-based ingredients.

We were really excited to eat here for our anniversary dinner after seeing great reviews online. Positives - the staff were really friendly and seemed to genuinely care about the food they served. The timing between courses was slow which might not be perfect for everyone but we enjoyed just chatting! Not so perfect…. We finished our drinks as the first course arrived and weren’t asked if we’d like any more for the duration of the meal. The restaurant prides itself on its relaxed approach to fine dining but asking if we’d reuse our cutlery for all courses felt like a bit of a niche way to save on washing up. We actually ended up leaving 4 courses into the 7 course meal mainly because of the heat in the restaurant. It was honestly unbearable and whilst, clearly, the restaurant can’t control the weather, you’d think that 5 days into a predicted heatwave a fan might be a good purchase. Overall I’m pleased we tried it but food would have to be absolutely spectacular to enjoy it in a sauna like environment without a drink and for us it just fell slightly short. Presentation was lovely but none of the ingredients packed any decent flavour.

I am so blown away by the beautiful eatery my friend Ritchie and his fiancé Lauren have established together. If you seek plant perfection or you’re a flavour fanatic this is the place to go. The team at No.Twelve have created a foodie haven nestled in city centre. Sublime taste, striking presentation & attentive hosts. It is clear to see this culinary power couple have invested all their passion and creativity into the dining experience and it is incredibly inspiring. I couldn’t fault it and I can’t wait to go back so I can order the whole menu all over again.

The food was terrific. There were 7 of us so we had everything on the menu and couldn't help sharing it. The staff were delightful, the atmosphere relaxed. As a vegetarian for 40 years I am so pleased it's getting easier to find fine dining plant-based menus, but No. Twelve is trying just that little bit harder. In short, it's a real little gem and they deserve all the awards, including the ones they haven't won yet.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon as a group of 4. Had the brunch menu with a couple of sides and cakes to share. The food was presented beautifully and was absolutely delicious! Great choice of drink as well, and fantastic service. As a non-vegan there was so much on the menu I wanted to order! Will certainly be back.

I celebrated my birthday here and it was amazing! There were 14 of us so they gave us a room to ourselves. There were 3 separate tables but the staff were perfectly happy for us to move them together. The staff were really organised. Even beforehand, Lauren and other staff kept in contact for updates in numbers and menu options, allergies etc. On the night, they brought the dishes through and called the specific people’s names, which doesn’t always happen in restaurants. It saved all the stress you normally get when no one can remember what they ordered!! All the food was absolutely delicious, I even had to order a second tofu steak (well, it was my birthday!) Everyone (non vegans) loved the food and I loved the fact that we’d had vegan food done properly. We stayed there quite late drinking wine and the staff were so accommodating and friendly throughout. We had such a lovely time and my friends were raving about it. I don’t know Ritchie and Lauren personally but I imagine they work bloody hard to provide such a quality establishment. Nottingham is very lucky to have such an amazing vegan restaurant. Hugely recommended.

We had reserved a table for 16 people for my partners birthday. We arrived and had a great meal. The food choices were delicious and the whole of our party (all non-vegan) commented on how amazing and interesting all the food was. Even the cocktails we thought were great. We didn't except the portion sizes to be so small but we all said we were surprised at how full we felt. On asking for the bill we informed them we had already paid a deposit towards the bill but they informed us that they would be withholding part of our deposit because unfortunately we were not aware we had to pre-order food until after our visit and we hadn't arrived with 16 people but rather 11. We were informed they had kept the whole top floor empty for us to cater for us in case we wanted to stand by the bar which we had never requested. On our arrival we informed them that everyone was here and there was a spare table that could of been utilised. There was another table being used by another party on the top floor also anyway. We spoke with Lauren and I couldn't believe how rude she was to us. We basically got told off because we hadn't informed them that 5 people had cancelled last minute and we had failed to answer her emails when she was requesting pre-orders and ignored her. If we are completely honest we didn't check our emails and they had our phone number and received no phone call so didn't think anything of it. Overall, they withheld £25 from our bill which meant we didn't give a tip so it wasn't a complete loss. I would say our visit was very unfortunate and probably a once in a lifetime occasion as we loved the food and the whole food experience. The decor and staff was good too. I must say it left a very bitter taste on leaving and ruined my partner's birthday. We have visited many times before but won't be returning.

Every single time I visit No Twelve I am blown away. The food and drinks are absolutely outstanding, I always leave absolutely stuffed and my tastebuds buzzing. The decor is beautiful, calming and modern. Finally the staff are UNREAL, Lauren and her team are wonderful, attentive, caring and eager to help. I always feel so taken care of and look forward to returning to No Twelve again soon!!

Honestly one of the best cafe/restaurants I’ve ever eaten in. I’m without doubt a meat addict but the meat alternatives they have are genuinely incredible - I’d be hard pressed to find a better chicken dish than their popcorn chicken side and that includes real chicken!Not only is the food delicious but the building/atmosphere is unmatched in Nottingham. Plants and cooky decor where ever you look and lovely artwork (apparently drawn by art students!) adorning the walls.Finally, the staff are fantastic. Attentive but not pushy and a great knowledge of the menus.10/10, five stars, A+ and will be back soon!

You start by going down a quaint walkway leading you away from the bustle of Notts city centre to a place of attractively good times.

Absolutely wonderful! Such lovely service from all the staff, especially owners Ritchie and Lauren! Delicious food - would highly recommend the garden risotto. My go to place for an oat milk latte, and not forgetting their delicious berry and lemon cupcakes. Best veggie food in Nottingham.

We tried No.12 for the first time on Fri 7th Feb with high hopes but were very disappointed. Most dishes were delicious so the main issue is portion size and value for money. We were so hungry after the meal that we honestly went to another restaurant afterwards. Portions were overly miserly and it would have been easy to have more bread with the sharing platter and more rice in the risotto. Sadly we won’t be returning.

As I’m doing veganuary I sought out a plant based restaurant for a catch up lunch with friends.

Visited this lovely place for lunch today as a treat. The staff were attentive and smiley as we walked in, and were quick with service. The menu we were served was the Brunch menu, which while not massive has lots of options for everyones taste. We eventually went for the 'Chicken' and Fries, and the Roasted chestnut & Root Vegetable stew, along with a small side salad. Both dishes were fabulous and full of flavour. Whilst not massive portions they are definitely not too small, and the price is such that you could have a couple of dishes to sample. The House Lemonade is AMAZING !! We also tried the coffee and cardamon cake which was the best vegan/ non vegan coffee cake I've ever tried ! Throughly recommend taking the time to visit.

We booked a table here for a family gathering; friendly welcome on arrival, attentive staff, great atmosphere especially the pianist playing subtle background music.

Very small menu without much choice. Ordered the whole menu between 3 of us and it was nowhere near enough food. The food was terrible and had absolutely no flavour. 2/3 of us who attended are vegan and were extremely disappointed with the food taste and quality. The selection of drinks was very poor with only 3 different gins and no cocktail menu. Would NOT visit this restaurant again.

Stumbled across No.Twelve via an internet search, whilst looking for a good breakfast.

A party of 4 meat eating friends went for lunch and what a pleasant experience it was, the setting is very cosy the staff very welcoming and service excellent ( the restaurant was very busy on Tuesday lunch time recommend booking) there was a good choice of food and all the dishes we had were very tasty and good sized portions we all had pudding too can thoroughly recommend the tiramisu and the various cakes. Overall well worth a visit will be taking members of the family soon for an evening visit

My first time in Nottingham and I was delighted to find a cafe offering a variety of plant-based food. From the moment we walked in the door we were made to feel welcome. It is small and compact but beautifully kitted out and very comfortable. The menu was wonderful and it took me some time to choose. It was brunch so I went for vegan French toast - it was utterly delicious. I watched a variety of food coming out and wished I could eat more. I would highly recommend this place and wish there was one nearer to my home.

First visit to the new location (off Wheelergate, where Mayfields/Le Mistral used to be) and they now serve alcohol (which is not obvious from the website). Make sure you book.

This place is amazing - had a variety of dishes - crispy poached egg and tofu steak particularly stand out - absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Outstanding service topped it off. Shame I don't live in Nottingham otherwise would be visiting every week

This place is absolutely amazing! So nice to have a fully vegan friendly restaurant to go to. New venue is lovely, the food is better than ever (all so fresh and flavoursome), very reasonably priced and the staff are super friendly as always.

My friends and I were visiting Nottingham for the weekend and we were very glad we tried this new restaurant. We tried eveything but one on the menu and shared them and we enjoyed every dish. The service was great too and there was a very calm atmosphere to it. I would recommend sharing a variety of dishes as some were too large or small for one person. We hope to come back soon!

I’ve been meaning to visit 12 Hounds Gate for a while as it ticks boxes for us... in Nottingham, dog friendly & vegitarian/vegan menu for my son. It is a little out of the way for us but, as we discovered yesterday, we’ll worth the extra walk. I love everything about it from the decor to the friendly service to the quality of the coffee and of course, the absolutely gorgeous food. I first came here with my boyfriend who didn’t know it was a vegan/vegetarian cafe (I daren’t tell him as he’s a big meat lover), after I saw someone post about it on Instagram. He ordered his Great British Fake Off and didn’t seem to understand still that it wasn’t going to have any meat on it. He absolutely loved it and that’s saying something! I was so happy cause I love going there and have since brought my mum and brother along, who are both vegans. Such a lovely couple own it and they’re great! I tell you what, I always have a hot chocolate with oat milk and it is to die for!!! Will be back again soon for sure. My partner and I have been here twice now. Both times have been lovely. The atmosphere and decor is right up our street, very mellow and relaxing but with a nice atmosphere - just the right balance. The food is wonderful. This place offers veggie and vegan only, but I’ve seen non veggies walk in and adore the food because it’s that good! It’s reasonably priced and the portions are decent. Okay the coffee is the best we’ve ever had, quite literally. We are not local to Nottingham but we’ve been dreaming of this coffee since we last came and couldn’t resist coming back for another.

I have never been disappointed with 12. Hounds Gate! The service is always very friendly, polite and welcoming. The staff are enthusiastic, happy and helpful. There are plenty of drinks to choose from, to try for the first time, and are often very tasty. The food is made within 10 - 15 minutes and always comes extremely well presented. You can tell the chef takes great consideration in the assembly and presentation of the food - like an artist. The food always tastes fresh. It is soulful and, for vegetarian and vegan food, it is exciting. The ‘chicken’ is a must to try. It is personally the best chicken substitute I have ever eaten... the bacon is not far behind too. If anyone thinks the new Gregg’s sausage roll is good, you haven’t tasted anything until you’ve eaten the vegan one by Hounds Gate. The portion sizes are not overwhelming, which is understanble as a lunchtime restaurant. The prices are a bit higher than average, but I am happy to pay this as the food is always great. The cafe is beautifully decorated, intimate and bright. The only downside is how early it closes... a true gem in the heart of Nottingham.

Very creative menu with great flavours and lots of care placed in every dish. Excellent choice of cakes and creative drinks leaving you feeling full but not weighed down with meat and caffeine!

Really tasty food! I’d recommend the mushrooms on toast. Lovely atmosphere and great service. Really looking to coming back!

We stopped for breakfast on two different mornings during our stay in Nottingham. Everything was delicious and can be made to be vegetarian if needed (which we did). Very friendly staff.

We enjoyed our visit here today. A small cafe, we were very lucky to get a table. We had a nice homemade lemonade while waiting for our mains, which was very welcome on a hot day. We had the soya chicken based salad, which contained excellent malty bread. In addition we shared more ‘popcorn chicken’ and marbled potato sides. All were very tasty. Almond and blueberry muffins were also tasty and the chai latte well made and not over sweet. Overall a pleasant visit, our only observation was that the mains were on the small side and we were glad that we had supplemented these with a couple of sides.

I popped in with my two daughters for a drink just before closing time, the cafe is very homely and cosy and the owners were so friendly and welcoming. We had the apple & caramel cake and banana loaf. The presentation of the food was excellent and even though it was the end of the day the cakes were so moist and fresh, they both tasted absolutely delicious! I had a very refreshing homemade passion fruit soda and my daughters had fruity water complete with lemon and mint sprigs and felt very grown up. The prices were very reasonable too which is always a bonus. Whilst we were here I checked out the breakfast / brunch menu - it had a good variety of tasty sounding dishes - will definitely be coming back to try some out!

We always take friends who visit us in Nottingham to number 12. Consistently great coffee and veggie food run by a lovely couple. Highly recommended!

My girlfriend and I had been meaning to come here for a few weeks and after we had, our only wish is that we had gone earlier! To make up for it, we have now gone 4 times in just over a month.

The food was amazing!! And so many plant based/ vegan options! Definitely recommend! Also, pretty close to the train station and notts town centre.

The food was lovely, fresh and so so tasty and reasonably priced, the chai latte with coconut milk was fantastic, thank you and so please we have found a new place for brunch, lunch or just a coffee. Vegan or vegetarian the choice is your but I can recommend you try it. I wish you every success.

Everything about this place is the highest quality, polite friendly service, outstanding food and delicious coffee! This place has become my new Friday lunch spot. Highly recommend!!

Delicious! As a vegan I often struggle to find a menu with such variety, No 12 offered that and more!! Absolutely delicious, can’t fault anything. Will be returning very soon.

Tried the veggie ‘posh beans’ when I went with my friend who is vegan (the menu is completely veggie or vegan) and really enjoyed the food - very fresh. The couple that own the cafe are very friendly and even though it’s always busy you get served very quickly.
