Went here midweek lunchtime, glad we arrived at 12:30 as the place soon filled up with other diners. The staff were very friendly. The menu had something for everyone. I had lasagne, and honestly it was one of the nicest I’d had in a pub. It was tasty, with loads of cheese sauce, with a small bowl of mixed salad.I could see it hadn’t been frazzled in a microwave. Well done to everyone, I’ll be returning soon.

We have just visited the Hallaton Tea Rooms, next door to the Bewick Arms and owned by the same people. It has opened in the last week or so and is a delightful place to visit for coffee, light lunch or afternoon tea. Situated in a lovely refurbished building with oak beams and with plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, it is trying very hard to please and served us with good coffee and biscuits on our mid morning visit. Dog friendly too! We look forward to the next occasion.

Great food and service. The Sunday roast dinner was lush, followed by custard and crumble 😍the staff were also very friendly and very welcoming, and I would definitely return 😀 thank you, Karen and Di 😊

Picked up a family (4 of us) Sunday lunch takeaway today and we were all very pleased with everything. All the meats were tender and juicy and the vegetables all good, finished off with plenty of very tasty gravy - great value. Very friendly manager / owner(?) who was extremely helpful by calling me back in response to some email questions. Highly recommended.

We booked for a lunch to fuel ourselves before walking round the locks. The conservatory part felt a bit dated and decor was tacky, also our table was dirty. I was dripped on through the roof but was able to shuffle to the side to avoid this but there was a bit of water on floor. Staff very friendly and attentive as they could be with how busy it was. We waited a good 45/50 minutes for food so were very hungry when food did arrive. My husband had a burger, which he said was okay but nothing special. Lettuce in it was brown and it seemed odd to have raw red onion in it. Chips very good though. I had the homemade chilli in a Yorkshire pudding, it was okay but again nothing special, I felt overpriced at £13.95. Presentation on both meals was very basic. Drinks also seemed expensive. Overall a bit disappointed, wouldn’t return anytime soon.

Following a meal with friends in town we went in for late drinks on Saturday night. It was very busy but we managed to find a table for 4. I'm sure they were all old enough, but there was a lot of young people in there, it's probably us just getting old! My husband and I returned for breakfast. Can't beat a wetherspoons breakfast to sort out a hangover! Food was excellent. They ran out of milk but the guy at the bar quickly filled up the jug when I asked, even if he couldn't figure out how to shut it!

Unfortunately, I cannot review the food, as after waiting over 30 minutes for someone to come and serve me, I decided to give up and go elsewhere. The restaurant was not busy at all being a Wednesday night (at most 10 tables, with most having one person dining from individuals staying at the hotel). However, I was obviously not a priority and it was more important for the staff to stand behind the bar laughing and joking with the locals, rather than serve customers!! Its fair to say I will not coming back!!

Visited on a weekday at 12 noon. Two people sitting in the window. My order was taken by an unsmiling, scruffily dressed girl who didn’t greet me, smile or say Thankyou when she took my order and payment . I would have ordered some cake but what was on display looked dire and unappealing. I waited over 15 mins for a cup coffee which was slammed down on the table! The cup wasn’t full and not very nice and together with the too loud jazz music playing in the background was not an experience I will be repeating. Strays is in a prime position in the square and should be a thriving business. This place needs an overhaul, a manager, and good staff to re- invent it to its full potential.
