Absolutely appalling service from young guy serving, who completely ignored me. Only one other customer who was waiting for ice and he turned his back on me to take app orders. I waited patiently for several minutes then had no choice but to leave and get a drink elsewhere. As I did this I heard a sarcastic goodbye from the bar area. I am a regular customer in the sugar Loaf and welcome the opportunity to speak with a senior manager and identify the barman as I think this behaviour should be highlighted as clearly customer service should be a skill required for the job he is employed to do.

It wasn't too busy for a Friday lunchtime. Found a table and ordered a couple of drinks. Sat and people watched. The food looked good as well. I'd liked to have said the same about the men's cubicles, but ....... The checklist was ticked, but no way looked at. That made my mind up about not ordering food.

When we got there is was busy but what I noticed which I didn't like was that booths of 6 were occupied by 1 or 2 people. We had to sit on 4 separate tables. We ordered breakfast and it came in an OK time but food was either tepid or cold. Not presented nice and not the best quality ingredients. We had to ask for a refund on one breakfast as was freezing cold. Won't be coming back. Wetherspoons has gone downhill. Better experiences had in the past.

We know it's cheap and cheerful when visiting a Wetherspoons. However, smaller plates might make it look a little better. A little more pride needs taking. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what the answer is to make the chicken burger taste like chicken. No sauce, limp salad and hardly worth putting in. £7 for the burger chips and a coke and it was £6.50'too expensive for what it was. There were no clean tables and sauce bottles were filthy. Won't return.

Sometimes you visit a Wetherspoons establishment, and it feels a bit fish out of water. And so it is Market Harborough. It’s a nice town, picturesque and well-healed. And there, in the middle of the place sits Wetherspoons. All beer and a burger and cheap drinks. It’s an odd juxtaposition, that’s for sure. Light and shade. But you know what? The Sugar Loaf fits right in and makes a decent bash of its place in the town. We had a curry each, a masala and a madras, if you’re interested. They were delicious, very nice indeed. We ate with friends from the town who seemed to enjoy their meals too even though they hardly ever went in the pub. They might do now though. Very nice pub, great service, lovely food, and comfortable surroundings.

We were shopping in Market Harborough & decided o stop here for lunch as the rain was getting heavier. We found a table then studied the menu & decided on 2 panini’s with 2 Pepsis which we ordered at the bar. After less than 10 minutes the food arrived & was piping hot & well presented. It also tasted good & was good value for money. If you want a quick bite to eat then I would highly recommend the sugar loaf if you are in market Harborough.

Visited on a lovely sunny day so thought we’d sit out in the beer garden. We thought it odd that not many people were sitting out there, but soon realised why….loud monkey chatter and other bizarre noises were intermittently being blasted out of the speakers. I’m not sure if this is to scare off the birds, but the pigeons on the roof didn’t budge. Alas we couldn’t bare the noise and went inside. What a shame the beer garden is almost unusable especially as I’d mentioned this in a previous review last year.

Awful. Chef definitely not taking pride in anything. Breakfast arrived with apologies for no syrup for pancakes. Realised there was also no maple cured bacon. Hmmm. Asked for some and it came. Grey, flabby and stone cold. All food was tepid. Eggs undercooked and snotty. Cheap yes. Horrified to read other reviews mentioning ‘multicultural hellholes’ and it must be a real kick in the nuts when even the racists are giving you two stars. The staff were nice tho!

As people have comment before a typical spoonies. Friendly staff, but everyone seemed to be food orientated as they all are now. Sat morning mid day, bar was rammed but only 1 person serving but a throng of staff serving food which is the same all over. A general comment on spoonies now, as they used to be known for their real ales and champion beers and ciders but they are getting less and less on tap and you always see abbot, ruddles and doombar, but because of it, you have seen the re growth of the real ale pubs in most places now. Its a shame as I have spent hours in spoonies before, but the brand has just become a fast food and have a quick drink place, but there are still some cracking spoonies out there and I will continue to visit.

Visited for a birthday and it was a typical Wetherspoons. Single men occupying full tables with their lonesome pints. Hard naan bread, semi frozen samosa, worse of all no mango chutney. When we complained we were told oh well we have new staff , and nothing more said or offered.the food is all microwaved so should be the same consistency which ever weatherspoons venue and all they have to do is warm and present, The lovely town of market harbough has many good cafe and restaurants so I suppose they think why bother competing with them ,well why should I bother giving my money to you ?

First time visiting here. Service was extremely slow even though there were very few customers at the bar. Outside in the beer garden we were suddenly bombarded by animal noises coming over the outdoor speaker (screeching parrot and monkey sounds?). I’m not sure if this is how the staff clear the beer garden, but it definitely did the trick. We found a booth inside to finish our drinks, but this still had food and drinks that had not been cleared. We would see that the milk jug by the coffee maker had not been refilled and a customer had to wait at the bar to have it done. A shame as the prices were very reasonable and it looked a nice venue.

Not only that but we ordered via the app to receive our food before our drinks (the drinks were sat on the side for 5 minutes prior to us receiving them because the staff were too busy chatting about being late for work.) The meal we received was not complete as we ordered the sweet chilli halloumi wraps which arrived without the sweet chilli dressing. The toilets were filthy and clearly hadn’t been cleaned for a prolonged period of time. Overall we are deeply disappointed with the safety of customers and cleanliness of this pub. Came to Market Harborough yesterday for a family wedding, we arrived early and decided to come over to have a drink why we wait, the atmosphere seemed lovely. However the service we received or should I say lack of it was atrocious! We were stood at the bar waiting to be served for a good 10-15 minutes, it was not busy, there were 3 bar staff on and people who came up to buy a drink of food were served before us. We then needed to leave to go to the ceremony but as we travelled a long distance to be there we would’ve liked a drink even water which we didn’t get either. The water dispenser was empty and no glasses were available either. So all in all we had to wait for 20 minutes and had no service which I find pretty appalling for the standards weatherspoons like to show for their company.I intend to not come here again when I visit my family. It’s a big disappointment for the company I’d like to give you a zero but unfortunately I’ll have to give you one as that’s the lowest I can go.

When asked about where the maple syrup was we were told they ran out the previous night. Why did they not say at the point of ordering the food??The large breakfast also arrived. Vertically everything on the plate was cold. Fried eggs were better placed in a joke shop with the yokes crusty on top and rubbery on the bottom. The food was awful and did not represent any good value in the slightest.Dreadful experience. We visit this spoons outlet regularly..each and every time there is an issue you always chat about..poor bar service. Never enough stat behind the bar.Finding a table that is not either cluttered with plates and empty glasses..when you find a table it is usually stained with beer dregs or food crumbs. On this occasion 4 of us visited for breakfast around 10am, ordering was not a problem.. Food arrived in good time, then it was down hill.. My wife ordered eggs Royal the eggs were semi hard boiled, not runny as you would expect. On checking my traditional breakfast and my friends who had the same it was Luke warm, the beans not even warm.We sent the food back, the dishes were returned with little or any apology..the eggs Royal was much better, my breakfast was no different my friend couldn't be bothered to send is back again, my beans were the same as before .I asked a member of staff to try my beans he said he was not allowed to, the meal was returned.. Finally my breakfast was returned in an acceptable hot state.Only to find my other three in the group had finished theirs and now had to wait for me to finish mine. You know there are busy times at these establishments but to send out cold or food that is not as it should be is unacceptable. We were not the only customers who complained, others took there's back to the bar. There is always change of staff at this spoons you hardly ever see the same staff one week to the next. Trying to identify a manager is not easygoing issues with front of house appear to not improve here, why do staff serve food then walk back empty handed when there are tables with plates and glasses on empty table. Why is the glass wash area always full of stacks of glasses and cups.Witness a table wipe if you see one and it's so unhygienic a mist spray and a couple of wipes over. The tables are generally in very poor condition. You also have to ask why do customers have to remove glasses and plates to another table before they sit down. This organisation is proud of its toilets and win awards for them in a number of outlets..this establishment has very poor toilets, inspections never done on a regular despite it boosting an inspection sheet, which was 2 hours behind the last inspection.A good manager and continuity of staff that care were they work and appreciate that customers pay their wages might go a long way to greatly improve the overall customer.Designated front of house staff removing plates and glasses and cleaning tables correct that difficult to organise.Providing enough staff behind the bar to serve customers quickly again not rocket science.Surely staff who work here know the situation and customerFeedback from this platform. Do staff meetings not highlight what basic good house keeping can do to first impressions when entering the premises.Whilst in a spoons outlet in Ross on Wye similar in size to the sugar loaf...glasses and plates were collected on a trolley a simple method of quick clearing of tables. Stack the trolley, clean the table correctly, stack the menus and make the table presentable for the next customers.....simples. And a cheap fixOne good point to mention is there is always a good selection of real ales.A good manager with an interest in their staff and who values customers can turn this around without to much effort. Can improve - should improve-will it improve Time will seeAs some reviewers state it is not always negative its lack of consistency that brings this establishment down.Come on management you can turn this around Roll up your sleeves, motivate staff and put yourselves in a customer mode...the evidence is there to see before your very eyes.PsCan you move coffee machines back please . Stuck in a dark corner with little space next to a high table when the table is occupied.Graham, Leicestershire

having been drinking in this establishment since it opened we have seen it go from a very nice place including staff to a dirty and dingy place even after a few refurbs the last being only 2/3 years ago. The staff have no idea who is next at the bar it seems to be who shouts loudest gets served first, short measures and not liking to top them up when asked. customer service is out of the window with the majority of the staff not wanting to even be there.order your drinks on the app is a complete joke waiting for 25 minutes then going to the bar to inquire as the member of staff doing this job is to busy talking about general life, request to speak to the manager who says she will sort our drinks and find out what the problem is, comes to speak to us and agrees with all our comments acknowledging she inherited bad staff etc etc. We didn't return to the pub for over a week and then had a drink on the Saturday and the Sunday and my husband returned on the Monday as per usual, half way down his second pint whilst talking to a couple of Londoners was told that he and myself were barred for being abusive but you can finish your pint. If this was there intentions why were we served at the weekend and my husband 2 pints on the night in question. the moral of this is if you complain criticize you are being abusive we are not the first to be barred another local was barred for posting pictures of how dirty the place is. Unfortunately the order took about 40 minutes to arrive but we were given no advice from the bar staff that there was any delay. My wife's burger was extremely burnt and and we had major difficulty trying to alert a server to the problem and get this sorted. In another Wetherspoons the servers always return and ask if everything is alright. Unfortunately at this Wetherspoons, the staffing teams seem completely overstretched. In the end we asked for our money back because the whole experience was poor. To their credit they did give us a refund. However it should have never had to come to this! Great we thought, ordered the food and drinks so it shouldn't take long for them to sort that. First off they got my order wrong, took for three meals not two, I had a refund. Next whilst we were waiting for the food to arrive we noticed three people complaining about their food, not hot enough. That went back to be changed, meanwhile I had to chase up my food order, server admitted to it being overdue 25 mins. Why is it with hardly anyone eating just drinking (I looked around) it took so long to prepare two burger meals?

Ci siamo fermati per caso a cena senza consultare Tripadvisor. Servizio inesistente, tavolo pulito da trovare ma abbiamo mangiato del fantastico pollo e delle altrettanto splendide costolette annaffiate da buonissima birra. Prezzo basso. Se capitassimo in zona torneremmo.

Visited on Wednesday around 11.30am with my friend. The Eggs Benedicts were almost cold and eggs were hard. We spoke to the waiter who informed us there were only two poached eggs left but we could have fried egg on toast instead! Apparently the eggs are already poached and then heated up so no wonder they are hard! We opted for beans on toast, again only luke warm and weirdly the butter was in the sachet on the side of the plate. First time we have had to move beans to butter the toast!!? Must say he waiter was really helpful and refunded the difference.

We visited for the first time today for breakfast. The staff were friendly and the food was hot and well presented. For two breakfasts(one extra egg!) and two coffees (which we refilled)we spent £10.40 which we felt was very good value for money.

Another brilliant conversion of an older building. The pub was very busy but staff were well in control. It was easy to get served, plenty of choice at the bar and the food arrived within a short space of time. The menu selection was the standard Wetherspoons. Our choices were well cooked and nicely presented. All in all a really good pub in a good location.serving good food and providing a wide range of drinks at sensible prices.

The food was thrown together on the plate. Tables were filthy at 0900 in the morning. The kitchen thought it appropriate to be plying grime and rap at this time of the morning at a ridiculously loud volume with songs featuring the “N” word.

I live locally and would describe myself as a regular at this establishment. I have grown to love the beer stained bar stools and the sodden carpet, the friendly chirping bar staff never fail to cheer me up on a miserable day. I no longer have to order a drink as the chap behind the bar knows that I always drink John Smith's Extra Smooth. For £1.99, can I complain? To my knowledge thats the cheapest pint in the Harborough Parish. Thank you Tim Martin for this wonderful pub.

We popped in after dropping grandson off. Quick service with the app. Fiancées food was great. What I had was great. Missing the coleslaw which wasn’t the end of the world. But should have been there.

So... we came here for lunch about 3 weeks ago. Just wanted something cheap and cheerful. Food was fine. The place was filthy though. Sticky tables, menus covered in sticky stale drinks and food, the floor around the bar area was so sticky my shoes were literally getting stuck and I was peeling them up as I walked, there was a big queue as nowhere near enough staff, but the worst thing was that the place was completely filthy everywhere. The poser tables in between the booths looked like they hadbt ever been cleaned. The wood was caked in old dirt. I felt dirty in there and said I would never return. However, we were meeting friends on bank holiday Monday and this was their choice to meet for lunch. We thought we would give the place the benefit of doubt seems as it had been 3 weeks since we last went. I have to say though that again the food was fine, but the place was even more dirty. The cleaners need sacking! I actually wouldn't believe me if someone told me there was cleaners it's that bad. This picture is the same filth on the poser table that was there 3 weeks before! And trust me... you cant see how bad it was on this picture. Definitely wont be back! Other wetherspoons we have been to have been lovely... this is dirty old dated and never enough staff.

I don’t make a habit of going here because there are bars with a better atmosphere a stones throw away but we were there and just had a couple of quick pints that were well served and very cheap.

Was in the town shopping so decided to pop into our Harborough local for lunch whilst there. Food was quick and tasty. Staff were polite and friendly and one lad took the time to recommend an ale to my other half which he was delighted with! Will definitely be back during the ale festival!

There are so many things wrong with this establishment.. it would take more time than I am prepared to give. All I will say is the "staff" work their backsides off and management fail. on every level. It is by a long long way weatherspoons worst pub. If senior management would like to discuss the faileings of this pub, I am happy to discuss it with them. So I look forward to a reply

Today I visited here for the first time, I was disgusted at how rude one member of staff was. I politely asked if they could fetch me a straw for my drink to be replied with no and then I’m on my break. I explained I was unable to get to the bar and this member of staff gave me a dirty look and ignored me. I feel customer service is a big part in the role of bar staff and I was made to feel unwelcome just because I couldn’t manage to get to the bar. I managed to catch the name of the staff member which appeared to be Lukas. Thank you for the unwelcoming experience I won’t be coming back. Also the food was was just about edible. My burger was falling apart and my chips were cold.

To start with I would like to say that I have visited this establishment a few times without any problems, However on this occasion the bar manager was out of line and in my opinion intimidating. We had a baby with us (who was asleep the whole time) and as per the rules of the house needed to leave before 9pm. Totally understandable. However at about 8.25 the manager decided to come over and point this out to us in quite a rude manner, then realising he had upset a large number of customers decided to come back and try and justify why he had been so rude, causing more upset. Then just to top it off he decided to position a doorman to watch us until the couple with the baby left. It's such a shame that this manager had such poor people skills and I would like to see him being retrained as there was no need for the way he behaved.

. Service gets steadily worse with each visit. Staff are clearly not trained in customer services or even able to pour a decent pint. Wine choices are minimal. Not uncommon to wait up to half hr to be served. One of the worst spoons pubs I have visited.

We have been twice in the last 4 weeks the first time there was a large group of 18 of us. Food was fantastic on both trips but the service was slow. To give them the benifit of the doubt we went again just 3 of us the service was even slower. We were seated and ad rinks order taken but then just forgot about we waited 20 minutes and ended up having to go and find someone to take our food order. We were a little disapointed that the table behind us of at least 10 that arrived and were seated and order taken after us had there mains come out before we had even received our starters. Once we had finished 2 of us made our way to the carvery which was fully stocked, hot and smelt delicious. We waited a while for the plates to be cleared and to order deserts when they went off but didnt return we saw another waitress with the giant desert board walking around with it and tried to gain her attention. 15 minutes later we gave up waiting and ended up paying the bill at the bar and leaving. The resturant is lovely and as mentioned the food is fantastic but its just the service that lets it down. The novelty of the giant desert menu board is ok for quieter services but in my opinion I think just having regular printed desert menus would be more than ok for busy days. We will prehaps go again but we are not in any rush to go back. Had the service been quicker and more attentive I would 100% give them 5 out of 5.
